  1. I am already worried looking at the team tonight, hopefully we can put a first half performance that we did away at Bolton and the second half performance we put in against Arsenal.
  2. I spoke to Paddy a few times over the phone, when we both got ripped off in a ticket scam for the Carling Cup Final 2 seasons ago. We both exchanged email address and promised to keep in touch and update one another on how we had got on with reporting this through our local police stations. From the first exchange, Paddy came across as a genuine caring and helpful bloke and even until now, I had no realization that he was affected by cancer. I know from email exchanges that the scammer was eventually caught and Paddy got his money back, he was chuffed to pieces that he had got a 'result'. Paddy RIP mate, see you when I get there.
  3. General, I understand that you don't spend as much time on these forums as you would like too, or have done in the past. However, I have asked the question below 3 times in this thread alone and you have failed to neither acknowledge my question or offer any possible answer. Tickets for troops is a National initiative aimed at offering free tickets to serving members of the Armed Forces and their spouses. The tickets offered are balloted and the winners of the tickets are drawn at random. The initiative is being supported by a number of Premier League clubs, Chelsea, Bolton, Wigan, QPR, Fulham, Man City to name a few. It is also supported by a fair number of lower league clubs, including our neighbours, Birmingham City. My question is, will Aston Villa be offering any tickets towards this initiative? Sorry about the link, but the web address is: http://www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk/about-us.aspx A hugely worthwhile cause, I am sure you will agree.
  4. General, I have asked this question to you before, but you seem to have either missed it in the past or don't have an answer for me? There are a heavy number of Premier League clubs that have signed up for, and are now offering FREE tickets to British Troops on the ticketsfortroops website. Will Villa be joining this excellent initiative and be giving any tickets away to the site? Look forward to hearing your thoughts.
  5. General, I know it may sometimes be difficult with the media and their prying eyes, but.. Will you ever actually answer a question with a straight answer? Rather than constantly beating round the bush...
  6. I dont think I have ever felt so let down in the 40 years I have been supporting Villa.. All them dark days of HDE, days out whilst in Div 3, the break up of the European Cup winning team, losing GT to the England Job, I am completely and utterly dumbfounded about how we got to this situation..
  7. will save me a fortune too. Think I might go and watch Sutton Town next year it's only down the road 8) I am based in Portsmouth (scum), so it could be Havant & Waterlooville matches for me next season..
  8. What a complete crock of shit.. Oh well, that has save me in the region of £2.5k this season.. £80 petrol per match £40 x 2 per match Shirts x 2 Various merchandise Balti pies x 20
  9. philmcnulty Pat Murphy reports on @bbc5live that McLeish should be confirmed as Aston Villa manager "in the next couple of hours." Three-year deal. #fb At least 'someone' apparently knows what is happening.. Apparently being the 'key' word..
  10. As I was saying earlier in this thread....
  11. Facebook page update... Aston Villa Supporters - We don't want Alex McLeish. (Facebook group) The club has responded in person and acknowledged this group's letter. We will hear from them later tonight....
  12. Maybe McLeish was touted by Randy Lerner all along? Picture the scene: Late July/Mid August 2010 MON walks out of Villa The club are in chaos and desperately scampering round for a new manager. RL approaches AM, offering him the Villa job. AM preliminarily accepts, BUT only if he can stay another year at BCFC, out of courtesy. RL tells AM 'Ok, the job is yours in Jul 11, but ONLY if you promise to get BCFC out of the Premier League' AM answers - 'Deal, see you in a years time..' GH is brought in for the season, despite the club covering up his ill health. RL conveniently has to leave the club via mutual consent in July 2011, in comes AM as our 'new' manager after fulfilling his 'promise' to RL.. Thats loyalty for you!!
  13. This ^^^ post just made me smile for the first time today, thanks..
  14. Which is what they should be doing, they have nothing to tell us until they find a new manager. What do you want them to say...."We've not found a new manager yet". To which everyone will reply..."erm, yeah we guessed that" Just leave them to do their jobs and when they have something to say they will come out and say it. I second this, we have to be patient and trust the judgement of the board, no matter how frustrating it may feel at the moment.. Question for the General, Sir, I am a Serviceman in the British Army, and as such, we get to enter a number of ballots at the 'Tickets for Troops' website.. There are a high number of Premier League clubs now offering 'free' tickets to servicemen and women, yet Villa home games are not available.. Does the club offer any tickets via tickets for troops? On an Army perspective, I would like to finish by asking you to please pass on a massive thank you to everyone involved at the club that have been involved with visiting and taking time out to look after all the injured servicemen and their families that have stayed in the military wing of the Selly Oak hospital. Having spent some time on duty as a Casualty Notification Officer, I have seen first hand how appreciative these soldiers are for what Villa and the City of Birmingham have been doing for them whilst they recover from such horrific injuries.. Thankyou very much..
  15. Would anyone be happy with Ray Wilkins? Wants to get back into the game and is available...
  16. I am suprised that Bob Bradleys name has not been rearing its ugly head again...
  17. I remember Harry Redknapp saying the same thing when he quit Southampton a few years back, only for him to take the managers job at their bitter rivals Portsmouth 2 days later...
  18. On the subject of Chelsea, would anyone fancy having Ray Wilkins in as the new Villa boss?
  19. The mangers vacancy at Chelsea is completely different to the vacant seat at Villa Park.. Chelsea already have a team of world class players and can easily tempt the best players in the world and probably the best managers, regardless of who is in charge. With Villa it is very different..
  20. Ok, pre-season does not start for a month or so, the players are all away on their holibobs, there are still 2 Premier League clubs that are managerless, there are a few candidates readily available and a few that, with a bit of 'gentle' persuasion could be tempted to leave their jobs for a new future at Villa.. However, I think it is still important that Villa install a manager quickly. The players are uncertain of their futures, the transfer window is open soon and there are a number of players that could jump ship (Young, Downing, rumours of Bent), plus the 10 players that have been released. If a manager is installed quickly, he has time to identify what is left behind, what is required to build the team, convince those that want to jump ship to stay, gel the existing players together, make plans for the future, draw up a list of possible targets BEFORE the window opens and allow the club and its fans to settle down in preparation for the new season.. Graham Taylor, Ian Taylor, Stan Collymore have all re-iterated this in some shape or form, maybe they are talking out of their arses too? I know people are saying why rush, but I think it is important that the club signals its intentions by getting the right man, right now.
  21. Why the **** does a club the size and stature of Aston Villa spend so much time dithering around? We are a club steeped in history and must surely have an attraction to successful managers? Yet either no-one wants to touch us with a barge pole or we have a board that is completely inadequate of negotiating to get the right man. Having just heard that Martin Jol has joined Fulham, who for me are a lot less of an attractive proposition than Villa, why have we not bothered speaking to him, why have we not tried to tempt him to our famous club? Getting really **** off with the way our club spends so much valuable time dithering...
