  3. I agree with you Jon. I'm not saying that Warnock wont get picked (he almost certainly will in fact) I just think its wrong, its a big weakness of O'Neills this and one of the things he had said that he was going to address (using the squad more) Yes, Shorey has had his crap moments, even this season against Wigan he was shocking, but the last three games he has played arguably his three best games for the club, i struggle to see how Warnock could improve on those performances and I think dropping Shorey would send out the wrong message. throwing a guy into the derby on his debut is also a dangerous game imho
  4. This is supposed to be a squad. I think if Shorey plays well enough he should hold the shirt, so that Warnock knows when he gets the chance he will need to play at his best level in order to keep his place If Warnock knows he is always going to be selected when fit then whats the point in having a squad? Has Shorey done enough in his last three games to warrant being dropped? No, he has played well, so being dropped would just be unfair on him and extremely demotivating I'm sure Warnock will get his chance in time, but I think this isnt the right game
  5. For the reasons given in the other thread, Mellberg, although I think Southgate was by far the superior player
  6. Agreed. it was imo his transfer request on the day before the Man City game, a game where large scale anti-board protests were planned and well publicised that forced Gregory to sell him at the first available opportunity, even tho the transfer request was later retracted. Presumably Doug had a word
  7. Southgate is certainly the best player on that list however, this is team of the 00s not team of the 90s and the period 2000-2001 is one that I'm perfectly sure even Gareth himself would accept was a bit crap. his transfer request in the summer of 2000 in the face of evident tapping up from Chelsea followed by a season in which, it is true, he played professionally, but was ultimately a season that ended with him joining Boro for "ambition" So while I would gladly vote for Gareth as a partner for McGrath in team of the 90s, I cant vote for him in team of 00s Mellberg. Hmm. I think he had two great seasons - the first one partnering Alpay and oddly (and perhaps controversially) the last one where he played right back. In between I think he was a bright spot in a dreadfully poor team but I'm not sure his overall contribution is worthy of such a selection Alpay. Superb defender for me, perfectly suited to this League, if he could have managed his temperament better he'd have been huge, and yet his last season or two here he wasnt good enough So I think Laursen wins by default. he would have got nowhere near the team of the 90s or the team of the 80s, which shows what a difficult decade this has been for us. I would partner him with Alpay
  8. You cant decide whether you're happy or not with o'Neill until nearer the end of the season? You must have an opinion, surely? maybe you need a dont know/dont care option Gringo?
  9. Needs two polls I think becasue people are already voting, not for their favourite, but for their second choice, which spoils the result personally I'd scrap it and start again, but I'm a bit of a pedant like that ;-)

  13. For goodness sake people, "the question" isnt really being asked its an approval rating, like a president or a prime minister would get (although both would die for this kind of approval) View it as a positive thing. Any rating over about 65% is pretty healthy and shows the fans more or less behind the manager. Over 90% is an incredible level of support. Stop viewing everything as an attack on the manager
  14. I expect to see a small swing in favour of the manager this week. Last week was what 85% approval? I think it might top 90% this week
