  1. I am waiting( and hoping) for the day when Villa is mathematically safe. Then may the abuse begin ...aimed at McLeish and Lerner. Apply the pressure and see what results. All we can do is try. If McLeish is still there next season, then God help us.
  2. After watching the game, the first thing I thought about was what VT would be saying about Hutton's performance. I don't enjoy sinking the boot in or being negative but... his performace was dire. Sometimes I wonder whether he ever learnt to be able to do the basics. Trap the ball, dribble and pass. he seems to have trouble completing the basics.
  3. Good to see Andreas score a good goal. It was a neat little one-two and superb finish. Although I don't want to comment on our overall performances this season, allowing our youngsters to play the last few games is giving them invaluable experience and can only help for the future. I hope so anyway.....
  4. This. I remember him only playing one or two games but the signing really got me excited. Thinking back, I think he had just played a full season partnering Ruud van Nistelrooy for PSV and they both had scored a lot of goals. The goal he scored against Chelsea was fantastic! He looked very promising in the little time he had with us until his unfortunate injury. What could have been.
  5. Now that Zog has scored a good goal, I hope his confidence levels stay high, as you can see his level of performance lift. A good goal, very good technique. Well done to him and long may it continue. I feel the squad is slowly raising their confidence levels... which augurs well for rest of season. I think keane, the way he plays, suits Zog. Kean always moving around into the midfield to get the ball to release zog.
  6. I agree with you Pelle, spot on. Though why he was heading it that way i dont know. Never head across face of goal. Most will back header it away...even for a corner.
  7. I don't see a problem either way. If they give the shirt to Given then fine, he is a good keeper. Guzan did well when called upon. So he can count himself a little unlucky. The important thing is that whoever is selected knows there is a backup who is itching to play and is capable of playing well for the first team. More competition is good.
  8. I've never had any problem with Warnock's desire and will to put 100% in. It's just sadly, his end result is lacking and mistakes are made. More competition is what we need. Maybe that means buying new players or playing Clarke there?
  9. I've been really impressed with this lad. First impressions were that he may not be upto grade, but it looks like he has the makings to be a good defensive midfielder. He doesn't have brilliant ball skills but he is solid who will hopefully continue to improve. Plays simple passes which I think is needed in that position and tracks back really well. He also helps out our defenders which we need at times. Oh.... and go Aussie!!
  10. I have just finished watching the replay. I am really pleased with Ireland's performance. I thought he passed well and made alot of good runs into dangerous areas. Unfortunately some of his team mates failed to pick out his runs. A few well guided passes to him could have produced a few more chances.
  11. Nzog is simply having a run of poor form which can happen. he is in a new team, is still getting to grips with how we play, and is getting to know how his fellow players play, what runs they make etc. Yes, he is playing poorly, yes his confidence is shot, but we need to give hime time. I understand fans expect our players to give 100% and if they aren't playing well to get some stick. He seems to be bereft of confidence at moment. It looks as though he is in 2 minds whether to run with ball or make the pass. He may simply be trying to hard at the moment. I hope he turns it around and becomes a success at the Villa.
  12. I don't think you can say that the poor crowd is purely down to Mcleish. There are other factors at play here. 1.Fickle fans may simply believe that we are a weaker team due to the loss of a couple key players..(which IMO the team is weaker). 2.Just because the unemployment rate has not changed does not mean that people may be more cautious with monetary spending. 3.We were playing a poor blackburn team. Not exactly creating excitement there and this could well have an impact on crowd figures. With a few more good performances like that, hopefully the fans will come back and decide to spend their hard-earned. UTV
