Lambert needs to be backed. Look what he did with 20m. Benteke alone is probably worth that now. Westwood, Vlaar and Lowton all for under 10m.

If he isn't backed now, and we go down, you can kiss goodbye to the likes of Benteke and Vlaar. Lerner needs to pump money in because I don't like the way Reading, QPR and Southampton all seem to be picking up random points in different places.

We need a big strong Defensive midfielder so badly. We also need some teams to come in and try and buy the dross we have on high wages.

Definately some positives to come from that match. The front three looked deadly at times.

Unfortunately you cant keep defending corners like we do and manage to get points from games. I'd have taken a point before the game but it's obviously the manner of the way we gained it that hurts.

Newcastle is a huge match for us. We really need the three points from that one.

All in all, not a bad game today. If we play like that every week we will probably stay up. Lerner is gambling with our future big time if he isn't willing to throw in a few $ for signings this January. Ideally a defender and a defensive midfielder but I honestly think just a strong, quality defensive midfielder may be enough to keep us up. Would have made a massive difference today for us anyway.

Amazing the depth we have at left back, but lack of quality.

I think we have 4/5 players who can play the position, but not one of them has proved they can do it. IMO, Warnock is the best player we have in this position.

Just watched the Lambert interview on Sky Sports News.

I know his demeanor always seems negative, he was NOT a happy man in that press conference.

Really starting to believe the man may have his hands tied. He needs 2/3 signings this window because otherwise we are doomed.

Dunne back would be a massive boost and I'd also like to see Warnock brought back into the side. Thats how desperate we are. The Newcastle match is huge.

Now, we can all roll out the cliche's about them having time to gel etc. But this is a team managed by (I hate to admit it) a man who knows what he's doing in this situation and can get the best out of players. I just find it worrying that there are teams like this below us pulling out all the stops and we seem to be stood still.

Now I'm not saying that we wont do business because I think we will, but as each game that passes, and as each team tries to strengthen, we have less of a chance to avoid the drop.

I trust Lambert to find the right men, I just hope his hands aren't being tied.

He's 25. Why would it be a stumbling block? It's not as if we're signing some 30 year old on one last pay packet.

Yep, Could play him in front of Westwood and a new DCM and it might just be enough to keep us up. Throw in a quality winger and defender and we have a fighting chance. I've always liked Dorrans but not sure if his age will be his stumbling block.

So we need 7 wins from 16 games or 6 wins and 3 draws etc.

With Mulumbu and Yacob out, I'm a lot more confident going in to this one. Thats the spine of their team taken away. It at least gives us a chance.

Could possibly scrape a draw. Sign 1/2 quality players this week and you never know, we could go their and draw with confidence.

With Vlaar back, Id Play him in the middle with Baker/Clark with either Baker/Clark at left back.

This Chav just aint good enough and have seen no promise in any aspect of his game. Every manager makes poor signings, I'm afraid this looks like one from Lambert.

Coutinho is such a class player. If we get him it would certainly be a coup.

I still think we need two new defenders this window. Toby Alderweireld would be a great addition.

I usually post a line up I would like to see before every game in a match thread but I just don't know anymore.

Nobody on here, let alone our manager knows our best players in their best positions and the best XI. It's a complete lottery.

Hopefully get a draw as I see no deals being done in time for new defenders in the line up.

If we lose, In my opinion, we'll go down. You cant afford to have teams like Southampton doing the double over you and expect to stay up.

Lambert really needs Vlaar and Dunne to get back from Injury asap.

Stephen Warnock isn't going to save our season. Sadly our woes will not be so easily fixed.

Perhaps not, but Our defence would look a damn sight better with him in it rather than Bennett. We are down to the bare bones here and Something somewhere has to change.

Has to come back in some capacity. Honestly, Even at CM alongside Westwood, he'll put himself about a bit. He's a far better defender than Bennett.

Swallow your pride Lambert and bring him back, if he doesn't, it could make or break our season our defence is that bad.
