Forgive me if I am misreading the general thrust of what you are suggesting, but I'm not sure blazin' and bangin' are top of Mr Kang-In's decision making process while considering where he chooses to ply his trade next.

What if mandem likes to blaze?

  2. For the right price and wages, it would be a decent deal.. I think.

Maguire, Konsa, Mings and Carlos is a decent 4 to pick from for those 2 centre half positions.

Really can’t see it. Also, his agent isn’t in that photo and betting odds are a complete nonsense. Very rare to see it go as low as 1/5 on these things though.

  3. You can use stats to prove anything. Digne has been average this season and I think it’s testament to his average-ness that the first thing the new manager wants to do is to buy a new left back.

He’s a very tidy footballer. Technically he’s also very good. He just doesn’t have the pace to be a top fullback. He can’t beat a man and he can’t really dribble with the ball either. He holds us back from an attacking sense and I think teams will start attacking us down that left hand side because they know he’s slow.

We gave him a daft contract and we’ll pay the price for that. There’s no way we can afford to have players on £160k a week that aren’t first choice. One day maybe, but now now!

Oh for sure. People for some reason are having a go at Digne when his attacking output is still very very good. He's like top 20% of all Left Backs in top 5 leagues for assists, expected assists, shot creating actions. Our left hand side is a little defensively weak because we've our attacking FB in Digne with an attacking 10 in Buendia playing in front of him. Ideally Digne needs McGinn there or JJ who are experienced in covering the full back space.

Similar to the Cash / Young experiment on the right side. I can fully see Digne and Moreno in same team and I think we could often see it with a substitution where one comes on to play LM etc..

We all like how Cash and Young are competing on the right. We now get that on left as it seemed clear to me with Digne starting all the games Emery didn't rate Augustinsson at the level of Digne

Personally I think you’ll see Ramsey in front of Moreno with Digne dropping to the bench. Then McGinn in front of Young on the other side with the intention of buying a player to replace McGinn. Maybe Bailey might even start on the right.

Definitely one in and around first 11 next season. This loan has gone well - invaluable experience.

That might be the case, I just hope if we do recall him, he doesn’t just sit on the bench like Archer. Personally, I’d be happy to send him out on loan again next season and just let him continue his development playing 35+ games in a season.

No need to rush players back from loans. Kessler, Ramsey and Archer can all stay out on loan too next season for me.

Was never a fan of him but it's plain to see Emery can get more out of players.

Wouldn't mind him coming back and Emery seeing if he can fit him in. If McGinn can play in that advanced role, Traore can.

I was thinking this myself. Look, I don’t rate Traore, never really have in all honesty, but can he be worse or less consistent (being kind) than Bailey and Buendia?

I suspect Unai knows more about Augustinsson than anyone on here.
He was decent against Wolves, but in his other performances he hasn't looked the part.

If ever a manager gets what he wants - its Emery right now

Big time. This is the time to back him. He’s shown what he can do with a limited squad in terms of ability. Let him bring in 5/6 players over the next two windows and see what he can do.

Selling a back up who’s essentially a goalscorer is dumb! You can joke about all the other players all you want but selling our back up striker whose comes on and scores goals is silly, it just is.

So we should sell Watkins then?

  9. He's not going anywhere given we gave him his retirement contract. He's on the kind of money that means his children's children wont ever have to work.
This is what happens when you get it wrong in the transfer market. Ings, Digne and Coutinho have all been signings that have broken the mould over the last 4/5 years - High wages to players with no resale value and who get replaced relatively quickly due to age. At least with the likes of Buendia and Bailey, who haven't been great, they're on lower wages and have age on their side.

Digne is a decent player. One I'd be more than happy to have in the squad, but FFP exists. Having players like Digne on £160k a week means we can't strengthen and improve elsewhere.

    Daft.

surprised we're after a LB as i thought augistinson did well the other night

Augustinson has looked decidedly average for the most part in his time here. One decent performance from the bench from a loan player doesn't mean we shouldn't be trying to improve the team!

I feel like so many posters just go on the last game they've seen when assessing ability.

Looks like the deal is on then.  Ludwig goes back to his parent club and Digne is forced to up his game and compete.

I think that would be the plan if Digne wasn't on 160k a week. It's not like he's a young player happy to compete and learn.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Digne made available simply because Moreno might come in to start and we can use Young there (who is brilliant) with Cash moving over to right back.

I'd be very surprised if anybody came in for Digne considering the amount of money he's on. What a moronic signing he was (not a bad player, just the numbers/age profile)
