Wow! I think selling Ings and replacing him with Deulofeu would be up there with our worst ever moves in the transfer market.

    Makes no sense to me!

I’m not saying replace him, but there is a chance Deulofeu will be here regardless of Ings.

The club will sell Ings if somebody meets our valuation. He’s simply too expensive and we have a chance to claw back some of the money we should never have spent on him.

Non-penalty goals per 90 this season

    Ings: 0.44
    Ollie: 0.19

So many caveats to that though. Either way, the club will make the right decision and if any decent offer comes in, he’ll be on his way. He looks overweight to me.

We need another forward this window or we can't be selling Ings. There are no Strikers but maybe another Forward is enough

If we managed to get someone line Deulofeu, we could perhaps play him behind Bailey worst case?

It’s not ideal losing an option in Ings, but he’s old, he looks unfit to me (subjective), his resale value is dwindling and he’s on massive wages.

A little short term pain for long term gain has to be the answer here, shortly? He’s also really not that good.

If we sell Ings we better already have his replacement signed up and ready to go. He's the only consistent goal threat we've had this season. Also, what's this about Villa needing the money? We're throwing £20 million at teenagers! 🤣

He’s scored as many goals from open play as Watkins.

This is one of those moments when we need to take a half decent offer it is forthcoming. £20m and he should go. No doubt at all that Emery and Lange will have a replacement lined up. I like him, but he doesn’t fit.

We had this situation with AEG. We should have let him go when his stock was still moderately high. It’s clear that Ings doesn’t fit into Emery’s system, that he man may want to leave (he was seriously pissed off with the booing at VP) and that he rightly has a reputation for being able to score in this league.

His transfer was a bit of a rush form the outset, so getting anywhere near what we signed him for would be incredible. Don’t take this chance (if it’s real) and we’ll be paying his massive wages until his contract ticks down.

    This.

We’re not letting him go without a replacement, I wouldn’t have thought, but even then, you have to consider the financial side. He isn’t going to be an option long term and he’s on massive wages. He’s pretty immobile for his age and he’s not getting any younger.

Take the money and reinvest either now or in the Summer. Let him be somebody else’s problem.

If we could get him for a reasonable fee then maybe. But I dunno, wouldn't be top of my list and not really sure he improves us all that much.

I’m a bit indifferent on him. Think he’s probably an upgrade on McGinn?

  7. Wouldn’t be surprised to see us line up like this towards the end of the season…

    ———————Watkins———————
    —————————Bailey——————
    Ramsey——New——Kamara—New
    Moreno—Mings—Carlos——Young
    ———————Martinez———————

And then a new right back and a second striker being the main priorities in the Summer.

If Mcginn was playing Friday night, we'd have drawn/lost. His lack of tracking back and just letting runners go past him, while pointing at everyone else to track them has cost us so many times in the past. As everyone said, we'd have not won that normally and I think that's because, partly, Mcginn wasn't on the pitch.

He disappears when we are under pressure.

Couldn’t disagree more. He was excellent at doing what you’ve just said he doesn’t do, against Brighton. I’d also argue we haven’t played well since McGinn has been injured.

  9. Sell him, and if Watkins is injured, just play Bailey up front. Need to try and get some return on the daft 25m price we paid and we can’t afford to pay a player £125k a week to sit on the bench.

  10. I’m still surprised there’s been no links to Lo Celso. I’ve always thought he was pretty good when I’ve watched him. Isn’t the only reason Macallister stated for Argentina because he was injured?

Anyway, 25m for McKennie? Lol. Just give that to Marseilles for Guendouzi.

  11. You’d think his relationship with Emery gets this over the line…that and a lot more money.

We wouldn’t be bidding if he wasn’t interested (that’s even if we’ve bid).

He’s the one I want more than most this January. I think he’ll really improve us in central midfield and is an upgrade of Luiz.

Surely we've learnt our collective lesson on this?

Absolutely not. I really don't think we should sign him based on what I'm reading.
