I do like Duran and he is a huge, raw talent but I don't like certain aspects of his attitude.

Yes, he's still very young, but he's playing 2nd fiddle to one of the best Villa strikers of the past 30 years. I don't think he quite gets that.

If Chelsea wanna cough up £30-£40mill, I'd take the money and run.

and he will almost certainly play second fiddle at Chelsea to Jackson

which makes it all the more strange he wants to go there

Thats true failures run deep at Villa as they always seem to. Still struggling to understand the Jan business though if it led to this. That bit is certainly on them and tbh Unai at least has been here for half of the 3 year period.

just suppose we didn't sign Rogers in the Jan window  .. Then with our injuries and the goals and the impact he made   , do you think we would have still finished 4th without him ?

if we'd spent zero in Jan  , chances are we  would have had to sell Doug anyway and quite possibly we'd have lost Emi and a few others who might have been tempted by CL football

so on reflection I think it was great business to sign him

So i got back last night and I must Bucharest is a hidden gem. Loved it. Dont know why its not one of the more popular places as its very nice.

Tone for you question is this a lads place? Absolutely! What i liked about it was you could do things for a boys trip or as a couple. Its easy to get around. Also the women are absolutely stunning out there. Probably one of the nicest looking cities ive been too.

Id recommend the following  the big thermal spa. Its **** massive.had about 8 different saunas ans huge pools, hot tub etc.  But it gets VERY busy as it can fit about 5000 people. Its great for a day to chill after heavy nights drinking. Also it was very hot. It hit about 33c there so perfect.

The castles good but quite far so be prepared if you want to do that. Also two restaurants we want to that were lovely carc cu bere and manucs inn restaurant.  The latter had the best sausage i have ever tasted. Unbelievable. Also of you like a good night go faces get a nice table and just enjoy it. Classy place and lovelh atmosphere

The only negatives are even though they have their own currency it isnt as cheap as i thought.  Ubers are cheap but food and drink not so much. Also their driving over there is absolutely horrfic so be wary of that.

    I give Bucharest a solid 9/10

    good to know , thanks

funnily enough we were discussing various options last night for the lads do and flight prices to a lot of the places mid Sept were stupidly expensive .. ( partly as I refuse to give Ryan Air money and partly as we don't want to fly from Luton or Stansted )

but LHR or LGW  the cheapest 2 options were Bucharest and Copenhagen , and I suspect 3 days on the hoy in Copenhagen would require a bank loan , so Bucharest is looking the most likely destination now  .. assuming my suggestion of Greenland and having a beer in the arctic circle gets over ruled :)

I move that all official measurements should be in Elphicks.

And that we move to a new currency unit, the DS (Digne Salary).

we might split the party on that one , surely the new currency unit would be index linked to how many nurses could be employed with said amount  ..

How much is this curly wurly ? that will be 0.0007th of a nurse

  5. I'm kinda undecided on Minister for education

on one hand we could give it to Dem to ensure high standards of English and spelling  are met  , but on the other hand if we make Blandy minister for Education , we can ensure that all school children get their 5 a day of gravy on their dessert every lunchtime

In this election (and this thread is specifically about this election), I'll vote for the candidate most likely to remove the sitting tory.

what if that most likely candidate was the Reform candidate ?

Would Meslier be a good back up for Emi?

Newcastle have offered £15m for Ramsdale , I'd pay that just to troll Arsenal even more by putting him on the bench behind Emi

will be a strange one if he goes , no way he's a better keeper than Pope and at least on Arsenal's bench he has the chance of some runners up medals in the cups

The polar opposite of any woman I've ever found attractive, the devil in woman form, the accent, the shit she speaks, how she bumble around like an old girl with dementia. I don't think she's particularly attractive, everything she does winds me up....

But, for some reason, I'd love to rattle her.

I literally change the channel or walk out the room if she comes on the TV

we need to stop making dumb people famous

abuse of people posting on VT is not the same thing as people abusing public figures for actions they've done

Abusing people you are talking to / debating with as members of the site does not lead to a great discourse

Abusing for example Sue-Ellen Braverman for generally being a horrendous person with dreadful policies and opinions is not the same thing at all.

I wasn't being serious , but  it kinda doesn't work when you quote me and leave out the :P  part of my post

Intolerance of intolerance, perhaps?  Like you say, Bravermann and those throbby types deserve the labels they get. Same with the lockdown law breakers, the PPE profiteers, the liars, the parliamentary code breakers, the tractor porn viewers, the grifters, the drunken Johnson acolytes, the unlawful conduct crew…

”Scum” hurts because for many of them it’s piercingly accurate. For others, you’re right, it’s not.

I'm thinking I didn't word my original  post correctly  , I've no problem with people calling those responsible anything they want ,  I was really referring to comments over the years aimed at people who have expressed being in favour of those parties , i.e voters  , or even those trying to offer counter arguments inside the old echo chamber :)

at a slight tangent , but addressing your last sentence  ...  I'm sure you made some good arguments at the time for why someone could consider voting Leave , I know some other posters made similar reasoning ...Ok you ultimately decided those reasons weren't a strong enough case  to vote leave  , but indeed I actually voted leave based on those reason  , but thus I'm a throbber , a gammon , brexit nobber and so on , nobody cared that I voted leave based on the some of the very same reasons you yourself maybe considered  ..

that's the kinda one perspective that I'm sorta trying to put across in the last few posts , all be it not very well

Indeed. If the Lib Dems pick up 10% of the vote, but that 10% is concentrated in forty seats and they get a thousand votes in the other 610, then they'll win those forty seats. If the Brexit nobbers pick up 12% in 650 constituencies then they'll win none of them.

yeah the system is what the system is , i merely mentioned it  in passing

but , I'm fairly sure when it was resulting in Tory victory, people were all in favour of moving away from FPTP   , i'm guessing that change won't be so popular this time around :)

I can't work out why scum as an insult causes such an adverse reaction. In my lexicon its rather a mild insult.

I much prefer to use a phrase like haemorrhoid encrusted shit stain than just scum. I suppose the lack of creativity with scum might be an issue

But you are the layer of froth on top of a liquid is hardly the most hurtful thing is it?

it wasn't written in red , but does this mean mods are going to give a level of tolerance when one posts on another poster using this phrase  :P

I used scum as its the word of choice , but yeah in itself its not that big a deal , but  think the connotations of the use of the word Tory Scum are as much the problem rather than the word itself

In fairness we are four pages into this thread and I don't think I've seen the word scum once (other than your post above and now mine) or anything else derogatory towards voting for any particular party.

I fully expect there will be though towards those who have governed us over the last 14 years. We've had a government that has thrived on creating division, that has overseen huge rises in those living in poverty, including children, and an overall drop in the living standards for the masses, that has decimated our public services all whilst syphoning off money to their family, friends and donors. I think it is totally understandable that many people will see those responsible for that in a poor light and some choice words will deservedly be used towards them. They've been quite happy to spew out hateful bile and introduce divisive policies, a few derogatory words to describe them is not worth getting precious about.

tbh I meant general bolitics threads rather than this specific one , but as you say its only 4 pages long , you just need to be patient :P

by all means call Sunik , Braverman , those responsible  etc a word removed if one so wishes  , the posts in those threads go way beyond that ..  for sure , being called scum by someone on the internet  isn't going to make my bottom lip wobble , but I just find it sad when you read posts (in those threads) suggesting that anyone who voted for or considers voting for them is a stain on society and should be rounded up for reduction in a camp or euthanised

I get politics is decisive , even myopic , for a site that boosts many that hate intolerance , those threads sure have a lot of intolerance

I detest them but I don't see Reform as a bad thing at the moment as they'll serve the purpose of splitting the right wing vote.

Around 40% of the electorate has been right wing for as long as I've voted. The other approx. 60% has been split between the centre/centre left parties. This has unfortunately seen the Tories gain power more often than not due to having a monopoly on that right wing vote.

At present Labour/Libs/Greens are polling at around 60-65% with the Tories/Reform at 35%. It is far better the right wing vote gets split so Reform taking 10-15% out of the Tories is going to see them lose a shed load of seats. The expected rise in tactical voting by the centre left/centre parties is likely going to see the Tories totally annihilated.

Whats interesting is that the Spectator article (linked below )is predicting a 11% vote share for Reform , but potentially zero MP's  v 30 Lib Dems with 10% of the vote

there is some evidence in the data published here , that both parties are losing votes to reform in the past 2 years   .. but obviously its hard to validate that chart when it misses out Lib Dems , Greens etc
