  1. Thank you you answered it for me.
  2. Firstly as my recent posts say his reputation played a part. But obviously looking at all the other candidates Randy saw that Houllier had the experience, the knowledge of Europe and was probably impressed by the ideas Houllier was presenting in his interview. You know they have interviews to appoint a manager to see how he would run the club not just see a manager and go "wow you're Carlo Ancelotti you're hired!".
  3. I worded that badly, I meant to say it means nothing if the manager doesn't suit the club. At both Milan and Chelsea, Ancelotti has bit strong efficient teams full of experience whilst using a lot of money to do so. He did this very well and deserved the success he had. We need a manager who can work with the young players coming through and not isolate them. It has been specifically made clear that we need to bring youth players through to supplement the first team rather then spending millions on average backup players.
  4. I genuinely don't think he's the right man for scrapping in midtable in the Prem at least (and arguably perhaps any league - he's done it once with Parma, but that was a Parma side that had some top players in it - Buffon for a start). If we were a top side, cruising with no issues, he'd do well, steady the ship and lead it to good things until things had to change drastically. But for a side that needs work, a fair amount of work, and isn't up there in terms of quality throughout the side, I really think he'd struggle to get far. It's not his bag imo. Rubbish, Ancelotti is one of the best managers in Europe. Ive got to ask how you know he could do the job we require better than Hughes or Moyes? Reputation means nothing else chairman would be appointing them on it all the time and no new managers would come through. It's about who is most suited for the job. Have you see his record of bringing through youth players? He's trying to win the Premier League and Champions League for God's sake, he's going to go with his best team week in week out, if the kids arnt good enough they dont play. Reputations mean nothing you say?? One name my friend, Gerard Houllier. And for what its worth, Kakuta, McEachran and Jeffrey Brouma all made Chelsea league debuts under Ancelotti. They had plenty of chances to play, I'm not talking week in week out, just cameos when 3-0 up etc... go and ask any Chelsea fan. McEachren has been criminally underused and Kakuta was sent out on loan to the wrong club. Bruma is now going to HSV on loan as he couldn't get a game. I'm not just talking about Chelsea either, its been the same in all his jobs. You really think Lerner appointed Houllier based on his reputation? You're wrong. Reputations are important but you don't appoint a manager just on that, he has to suit the structure and the long term plans of the club.

  6. Yeah I remember them being linked the months before, fair enough. I would have thought Hughes would have some say though.
  7. I mentioned about Santa Cruz to Blackburn! Jo signed when Hughes was in charge, so it's not clear who signed him! I agree about Robinho in a way though.
  8. Yep Hughes is decent in the transfer market. Samba as you say from Hertha Berlins B team. Dembele looks like he has something to offer. Tevez (Regardless of how good he was anyway.) Zabaleta Kompany De Jong Santa Cruz to Blackburn Warnock Dunn Bentley Bellamy to Blackburn Pedersen However there is... Halliche who has barely played for Fulham. Santa Cruz to Man City Jo Bridge Roberts Wright-Phillips Robinho It seems to me that he gets more success from the smaller fee signings he makes rather then the larger ones!
  9. At least if we get Hughes people can no longer moan about the lack of passion on the touchline Although the Trinity Road will have to be on guard whenever there is a bottle about!
  10. After reading the quotes today, I am pretty sure he's been tapped up. I wasn't sure at first but I really get the feeling now. So disappointed to be honest, I'm fine with Ash leaving he's always gave his all and given us a good couple of years service. Unfortunately we haven't got into the position he wants to be at during that time so I respect his decision to want to try elsewhere. On the other hand Downing, a player who we spent a big amount of money on which could have been a huge risk with his injury. He didn't immediately settle, and although people started to question I think a good amount of people felt he'd come good including myself. He has now given us one good season and thinks he's suddenly too good for us. He now has control of the situation where if we don't sell him now we won't get anything near the price if we were to sell him with one year left on his contract. We've already paid him six months worth of wages when he wasn't even playing. I think he owes it to us to sign a new one but I can't see that happening, it's modern day football sadly. I hope he proves me wrong and he stays but something isn't right.
  11. Lerner. Learner. Same, innit? I meant to put Larner but thanks for being pedantic. That's not pedantic, what you said made no sense. I always assumed it meant the obsession over small trivial details. I apologise if I am wrong though
  12. Lerner. Learner. Same, innit? I meant to put Larner but thanks for being pedantic.
  13. Some bloke called Dennis rang up. Kept saying Lerner as if it was spelt like Learner. Said Lerner is destroying the club and hasn't done anything for us. The host went on to say he's spent over 100m on transfers and club development and the guy refused to believe it. He then said we're just selling all the time and Randy is putting no money in. Then when asked who he wanted as manager he said Gary McAlister who apparently saved our season
  14. I wasn't sure whether he was a wind up at first then they asked him who he wanted for manager! Hilarious call that was!
  15. He doesn't know shit, I wouldn't worry. He's probably trying to wind a few fans up.
  16. Same, not my ideal appointment but he hasn't really done a bad job so far in his management career. He's a bit of a dick a times, but if he came to us he'd be our dick.
  17. no way, its lovely It looks like a small heath shirt.
  18. I am also a fan of Martinez, a manager who is very accustom to the new modern day style management. Although I feel he's not much a of a 'name' for fans to want him.
  19. "The club doesn't do it's business in the media". Lets just wait till the club have sorted it out professionally and are then in a position to make a statement
  20. Benitez has apparently rejected the Atletico job
  21. **** off, why didn't we look at him?! For £5m, that's an absolute steal. Would be great in our team, his goal return for a midfielder is very good. Another shrewd bit of business after Tiote. Ben Arfa too. Their scouts are doing a good job :x
  22. So many people calling themselves ITK right now, I can't ever remember there being so much. Don't people have anything better to do :?
  23. Yeah a real shame, hopefully it doesn't happen to Dortmund too.
  24. Cabaye confirmed he is going to Newcastle, the world has gone mad. If he was English he'd have probably cost 15m. They're going to have some midfield next season if they can keep Tiote.
