  1. I think Albrighton is a good definition of a confidence player.

8pins, I have never seen anyone make such a concerted effort to be the last comment in every thread in the last page. Every morning I wake up and all the way down it says 8pints and now it looks like you are making an afternoon run at it.

What do you win when you do it?

  2. 30 is a horrible one. Leaving your twenties is not easy, no matter what they tell you. You're no longer 'young' Eames. And you go from being merely 'horny' to being 'a pervert' so be careful  :P

Completely agree with this. I have always considered 30 as the end of your youth. You are no longer young. The start of middle age, responsibilities. I am not looking forward to that one, but time never stops so I will just have to accept it when it comes in 5 years time.

I have a house, wife, job and child.

What more responsibility can the bastards lump on me?!?!?!

Well you will have all those responsibilities coupled with your body starting to break down plus the onset on dementia!

Having turned 30 last March, this is a very accurate summary.

  4. 1. Herman Boone ( Remember The Titans) - Denzel Washington

    2. Bryan Mills (Taken) - Liam Neeson

    3. John W. Creasy (Man on Fire) - Denzel again

    4. Andrew Beckett ( Philadelphia) - Tom Hanks

    5. Hannibal Lecter (Silence of the Lambs) - Anthony Hopkins

    6. Clyde Shelton (Law Abiding Citizen) - Gerard Butler

  5. My mate whose wedding it was on Saturday nicked a couple of bits of that one, Wiggy.

    No problem mate! :)

I asked him to make a donation for using it. One which you would like......

So he gave £5 to a group that cared for transvestites with tourettes.

    Chicks with ticks and dicks!

    :lol::clap:

  7. I see fans convinced Warnock is gone. I see them saying he has no future etc. However I see him playing every pre-season game. I don't hear the club saying he's gone in the way they've told Hutton to sling his hook. I don't see him making noises or being disgruntled and to be honest, apart from what the fans seem to think is written in stone, I see no sign from him or the club; or Lambert's team selections; to suggest Warnock is finished here. I don't know either way and of course I want a better left back. I'm just curious as to where we've got this idea that he's a dead man walking. Other than the oft-trotted out alleged bad-mouthing of the club under the Houllier reign - a reign which at times would have infuriated Gandhi himself - I'm just slightly at a loss as to what he has done - apart from being shit on the pitch which is hardly unique to him.

    Agreed.

The one indication that we have had though that he may replace him is the approach for Cresswell. Especially as we have cover already in Lichaj and Stevens.

  8. Not mine, but assisting a mate in writing his. At the moment it's just a mass list of thank yous. His brother is the best man and will be funny so he doesn't want to be outshone totally.

Can anyone offer any advice on groom speeches and how to make them amusing in a non generic way.

Examples of funny things you've heard most welcome.

    Ta

Went to a wedding last Saturday..........

The Groom's speech lasted 25 mins!!!!! It was dull. Keep it short, no longer than 10 mins.

It doesn't need to be funny.

Also worth the best man looking through it as they don't want to be telling the sames stories...as happened last Saturday.

  9. Sorry mate, but it sounds to me like at the first sign of trouble you're thinking of getting out...

You think this is the first sign of trouble? We have had death threats, racist abuse with her kid, her marital home being repossessed, her ex track her down, her mum being rushed into hospital etc....not even close.

I have to say credit to you for going through all that and still being there. After going through all that **** I would be like 'do I really need all this in my life'. But I guess some people have a thicker skin then me.

I think you should see how things go over the next few weeks, if the situation does not improve then its time to possibly move on, no matter how special she is. You only get one life and if you are not happy then its time whatever it takes to make yourself happy.

Incidentally I had issues with my partners ex trying to get back in, do you remember that thread? How did you deal with it? Death threats for what? and finally racial abuse, what is the situation there?

Spoke with her a bit more last night and we are both gonna make a concerted effort to support each other more and make time for each other. I guess we will see if that happens over the coming weeks.

Most of the stuff I treated with the attention it deserved...none! The death threats were to burn her flat to the ground with us all (inc his child) in it. That was reported to the police and added to the domestic violence file. Thankfully due to debts plus the DV it seems he has now left the country.

Racist abuse for the son was on the streets. comments, looks, shouted at by blokes one incident of spitting that missed etc.

Lost my rag on the spit but the other ones I just shake my head at the people as they are uneducated idiots. Also dont want to show the kid that confrontation is the answer.

  10. I must admit, I am really shocked with how quiet the transfer market has been. We are 9 days away from KO. I know there is the rest of the month to go but it has been so quiet even for a tournament summer.

I wonder if FFP is kicking in with clubs and there is now more of an emphasis to develop what you already have.

We're obviously doing things behind the scenes, but the transfer window is open for some time yet. PL will want to see the players in a competitive game.

I am not on about us. I was talking in general. We have been very active compared to most.

But I have never seen a summer this slow with regards to all clubs' transfers. And I am not sure that it will pick up drastically either.

Is this what FFP has brought us?

  11. See Michael Kightly has gone to Stoke, good player there if he can stay fit. Went pretty cheaply after he handed in a transfer request, which too be honest I'm surprised about, Wolves offered him new contracts throughout all his injuries and then he goes and leaves 6 months after regaining fitness..

I can understand that. Could be a number of reasons. After 2 years out injured he need a change of scene or maybe his injuries were handled badly by Wolves.

Either way he paid them respect by the transfer req so Wolves didn't have to pay him a loyalty bonus.

  12. Paris Saint-Germain and São Paulo FC have reached today an agreement for the definitive transfer of Lucas Rodriguez Moura Da Silva.

The player and Paris Saint-Germain have also signed an agreement from January 2013 to July 2017. The player will join Paris Saint-Germain and his new teammates in January 2013 for the second half of the season 2012/2013.

By signing a young talent of the quality of Lucas Rodriguez Moura Da Silva, Paris Saint-Germain is already preparing the future.

So it seems PSG will probably be the first test case for how serious Platini is about FFP. The irony that it was introduced to stop the English clubs.

  13. There is no person in the world that would turn down 60K pay rise and the chance to win things at the highest level. Unless they completely lacked ambition of course.
    steve bull, le tissier...
Le Tissier did suffer a total lack of ambition.

I am actually pretty glad he did suffer it. Southampton built their team around him therefore he could showcase his talent to the maximum. Brilliant player.

If he had gone to a bigger club that would not have happened.

The sacrifice is he never won anything. But he is Xavi's boyhood idol.

i'm not sure he'd see it as a total lack of ambition! he was the best english player of his generation IMO.

as for bull, weren't inter in for him at one point? pretty sure there was a serie a offer. my memory isn't the best though!

Le Tissier was just lazy from what I remember. Never really looked in the best shape. Its a real shame IMO because the guy was blessed with an amazing amount of natural talent. If he had the attitude to match I think he could have gone on to be one of the world greats of the game.

I liked his laziness. It was part of the enigma.

He changed games and carried Southampton season after season.

True cult hero. Genuinely not sure if a top team would have given him a free role as Soton did.

  14. Megaphone-mouth types in the office. LOWER YOUR **** VOICE.

    One sits opposite me.

And he's also the kind of guy that says random stuff out loud even though it means nothing to anyone.

"Ohhh, I knew I'd posted the same thing a couple of mins ago!!!"

What? Why have you said that? No-one knows or cares what you're referring to.

he also slurps his drinks and revels in telling people how busy he is.

    He annoys me a lot.

    :winkold:
