  1. haha huge debate going on here... However im more to the negative side i would have to admit. i am worried about going into saturday with the likes of Stevens or Delph at left back considering Clark could be partnering Vlaar and Warnocks been left out in the cold.

I think it will more than likely be Lichaj at LB with Lowton at RB. I am comfortable with that. Also ok with Delph filling in as an emergency.

Idk why but i cant see him starting Lichaj at LB idk why. .

He played at Leeds mainly in that position and the Leeds fans wanted him back. And he plays there internationally too.

  3. The fact the club are still ringing around asking folks if they're renewing worries me too. Doesn't sound like all is well does it

I get frustrated when people trot this line out.

Aston Villa, as well as being a football club, is also a business.

They have a sales department, whose staff are no doubt paid a commission or bonus on the number of Season tickets that they sell. The fact they are ringing round is to try and maximise revenue from the sale of these tickets. Any business that didn't do the same would be foolish.

It is not a sign of anything other than a business with a sales department operating as they should.

You are correct it is a business. If you went to a restaurant that advertised itself as world class food and paid a premium price for your meal only to be served a load of crap would you not complain about it pointing out what they originally advertised?

    Where did Villa say this?

I believe our season tickets are one of the lowest in the Premier League are they not?

  4. The fact the club are still ringing around asking folks if they're renewing worries me too. Doesn't sound like all is well does it

Is that not standard business practice, though? Do you really expect the club to sit around and say, "Oh, well they will come if they want, we will not bother soliciting the tickets to them at all."

They're rung me at least 6 times now. Someone claimed we'd sold 25k not long ago, dream on

The only way they'll shift tickets is by showing some ambition. Getting a new manager is one thing, but if you don't give him the tools to do his job there's not much point

I think a lot of supporters have simply just heard it all before, and have finally decided to sit back and say 'impress me'. My money is hard earned, show me why i should put it in your pocket Randy

We don't have millions, or even billions of inheritance to make up for another season of football depression sadly

Are you insinuating the reason that we definitely have not sold 25k season tickets is because you have not renewed?

  6. Stop panicking. There has not been much movement anywhere. Only Arsenal, Chelsea, L'pool, Citeh, United, Spurs and West Ham have spent more than us so far.

So quite a few clubs then?

Not really. The top 6 will always spend more. They are not our immediate competitors for this season. West Ham always go crazy too.

None of the teams we should aim to be above have spent more eg Everton, Newcastle, Sunderland, Fulham etc

  7. My fellow fans- Adam johnson is not coming to villa park. If he goes anywhere it will be to liverpool as part of an agger deal. We are not in the 13million player bracket at the moment.

I still think nzonzi will be available at around 2.5million near deadline day. Gotta be worth a punt

Nzonzi has joined Seville on loan.

Not seen any proof of that yet.

  8. I like the way you feel the need to clarify that it was, infact, consensual sex.

I figured it needed clarifying after I mentioned that I told her I WOULD keep trying to stick my dick in her

To be fair to Dante, once he'd shoved her knickers in her mouth, everything she "said" sounded like consent anyway. ;)

  9. Didn't want to ruin the Olympics thread with football talk, so thought I'd hijack General Chat for a moment...

Having spent the last couple of weeks watching the Olympics, I found yesterday's community shield to be a bit of a cold shower in terms of sporting behaviour. There was no particular malice about this game, but compared to the Olympics, football really is a fairly disgusting sport.

I do not understand why the sport has to be so full of hatred. 90 minutes of players getting at each other and the referee infront of a backdrop of 35,000 fans who all seem to hate each other for no other reason other than the football team they decided to follow.

Contrast this to the Olympics, where a hugely partizan British crowd will clap and appreciate the efforts of all athletes, even those in direct competition with the British competitors. Not only this, but complete respect between athletes of all nations and disciplines.

I have gone right off football over the past year, and watching the Olympics has made me realise how pathetic elements of the game have become.

The Olympics has been refreshing for all of the above. however, I cannot wait for the football season to start. Due to the fact I got bored of the Olympics.

I have missed the tribal feeling (without the stupidity and violence) that you only get in football. I like the feeling of being the 'away' team or the crackling atmosphere.

I have enjoyed the Olympics and I will enjoy the footy. I just treat them as completely separate.
