They have been living off the money from their freak premiership win.  The players they bought with the money or already had are old/contract endings.  They will be bottom half team this season and subsequent seasons.

Not just that, but because of their miracle everyone glosses over the fact they were bankrolled by their owner and violated FFP when they got promoted, and since his death the belts have been tightened a bit. Not to mention previous transfer were also funded by Mahrez, Maguire and Chilwell sales. No big sale this window and I doubt they bring many in.

It's not necessarily a bad thing with the owner, glass houses and all that, just that I'm not sure his son is as willing to pump money in.

  2. "Was there a Norwegian community?"

Such Ronny Johnsen slander is unacceptable!

Edit - Actually, I bet Carew did leave behind a pretty substantial Norwegian community when he was here

Who will transport your vegetables and fruits if you can't emit carbon

We can try change, but I doubt its possible to limit. Its all a bit idealistic.

Maybe it isn't feasible to import vegetables and fruits from half way across the planet and people should change diets to more locally grown foods.

  4. England's attack looking much better as soon JVP comes on, was a weird decision to drop him for this game.

Maybe I just don't like Care, but I feel this series has shown why he's not been picked for England for so long.

I know England went there and won a few months before the World Cup in 2003 but i can’t recall was it a one off test or a series.

Yeah, that was a one off in prep for the WC, so wouldn't really count as a series. I looked it up, and the last team to do it was France in 1994 :o I was 6 months old...

Ireland and France are favourites for the WC for me, although SA will be strong too. Sadly for England I think the winner comes from that side of the draw.

  6. WOW Ireland! They've been great this tour, although maybe they're peaking a year before the world cup again :P

Well done to them, they are a fantastic team. Also when was the last time the ABs lost a home series?

    Meteor man musings

It must makes sense for it to be Sauron. The trailer hints at it pretty pointedly, the flames around him at the impact are very 'Eye of Sauron'.

But... Might they throw the canon in the bin completely and make that be Gandalf? Gandalf has a connection with fire, it appears the man can control fire, it's known he has a close connection with the Hobbits and this seems to suggest the first creatures that encounter the meteor man are the not-Hobbits. And he looks a lot like the guy that is dressed very 'Gandalf-y' in some other shots.

But Gandalf doesn't come to Middle Earth until well into the Third Age... So might they have gone down the route that one of the blue wizards is about at this time (and therefore basically becomes 'not-Gandalf' for the show). I think Tolkein suggested the blue wizards appear in the Second Age at one point?

    Spoiler

I've just been reading up about hobbits to see how these proto-hobbits might align with them, and I think that he'll almost certainly be Sauron, as the Hobbits were originally settled near Mirkwood (then Greenwood) and migrated west over the Misty Mountains due to Sauron's corruption of the forest.

Given we see a group of them travelling and they appear to be the first to interact with the meteor man, I think their plotline will be about how the Shire was first settled.

Although I did read that Tolkein did indeed say at one point that all the wizards came during the Second Age around the forging of The One Ring, as a counter to Sauron, however both dates for their arrival are from his unfinished manuscripts, so not sure which would be official canon.

    Seriously ?

A guy who hasnt played for us in God knows how long and overlooked by successive managers.

Pretty obvious why he isn't starting tbh.

Because it's a friendly in which Gerrard is clearly wanting to take a look at a lot of our youngsters?

Slightly, but some of the leaks early on did have the chevrons. There’s nothing new there except Search. Drive. Smile.

The one our PR guy was dismissing didn't though, therefore he was technically correct and didn't lie ;)

So our PR guy is a **** liar

To be fair, the leaked one isn't the same, albeit subtly different. The Cazoo and Castore logos are slightly different and there were no diamonds on the leak. Either it was an early mock up or a very accurate guess.

Why would you need a cast of all black people in a show? Or all Korean people in a show?

If I wrote a script set in Europe where the population is almost entirely white Europeans. The cast being all white is just normal.

If a script was set in Korea it would be normal for the entire cast to be all Korean

If the script was written wet in Africa or a majority black neighborhood in America it would make sense if the entire cast was Black

It all depends on what where and when the script and story is based and what it's about.

And yet you're original example of not being able to make an all white show now was It's Always Sunny, set in South Philadelphia with a 50% white* population.

*Non-hispanic, since Americans don't think Spanish people can be white

  12. We won't be signing anyone until we sell, that's been fairly obvious since we brought in Carlos. We had 26 players (now 25 with Trez gone) that need to be registered for a 25 man squad. We don't want to have players knocking about that aren't registered, because one, we'd be paying them Premier League wages to play U23 football and two, it would affect morale to have them around training unhappy with their situation.

The likeliest senior candidates to go seem to be AEG, Guilbert, Sanson, Luiz, Hause and Traore, in no particular order, but until one of them leaves, we won't sign anyone else to bloat the squad.
