  1. I gate crashed the OGS love fest last season to warn every one what a crap Manager he would be. I know he didn't get much time to save Cardiff but I fear this is exactly what would have happened to us had we foolishly appointed him before Lambo. OGS definitely not for me. No way.
  2. Jareth - How's your new job going with the Bournemoth Tourist board?
  3. My Fondest Memories of Bournemouth are at Villa Park in front of 48000 plus with Andy Lochhead smashing in the winner in front of a delirious Holte End after we went a goal down to Ted McDougall in 1972. After the match all 48000 of us went for a work out in the gym & then on to a curry house in Bournemouth. Mike McKenna paid the bill. & Yes. He did tip the waiter
  4. Bitching and gossiping is what VT is all about. This thread isn't that bad. It's the Paul Lambert thread that is terrible. I don't get what living in Bournemouth has anything to do with it. Bournemouth does not have a decent curry house. It does actually, try Little India on Old Christchurch Road. & don't forget to leave a tip. Nah, now way, no freakin way, does that qualify as a curry house, are they open 24/7? I used to live on that road, they have homages to many cultures in this world inculding the only black bar that is deemed acceptable in one of the most facist parts of england - Bournemouth sucks, on so many levels. HH is very much at home. SE Well I love Bournemouth and go the many times each year. HH sadly is a self publicist whose occasional nuggets of useful information get lost in all the bigging up of himself. Where he lives, save for bragging about his boat, is irrelevant. Personally I think he knows naff all about any takeover. Fair play, you are right, I have been unfair on the place when I meant to slag off HH. It's fine, I suppose, better away from the main beach (well 25 metres from nearest parking). It is a lovely sandy beach. But work in any health club there and you will witness the dark underbelly. Especially if it's one of those waiters working out that you forgot to tip. No , for real, there is some dark sh*t going on in bournemouth, everything is 'a-okay' on the face of matters, but underneath you have generally got a midsummer murders plot, i.e MURDER (jim). Don't you mean Murder Gym?

  6. The amount of people on this site trying to curry favour.

  8. Jesus - He was a local businessman and until very recently took a seat in the villa directors boxes. I can't bevel you can dis all that because he lives in Bournemouth ? I think you need to check your facts HH junior has lived in the Bournemouth area for years. His father who is just as much a self publicist as his son splits his time between the UK and Malta but does not live in the Midlands. Both are Villa fans but don't know neatly as much as they like to pretend they do. And this is where having been a Bournemouth resident comes into play - it is a weird place, you have many self interested business men, they all have something to say about the wider world, they all have a boat (woah, my mind is so blown!) but they all like to live in their little bubble. Brummies, true brummies are for real, we have culture, Sandbanks has only money and folks with no moral compass and a desperate need to self promote. F*ck em. Can I finish my curry first?

  10. For me Jack is the new Gary Shaw & I hope he can emulate his career.
  11. Jesus - He was a local businessman and until very recently took a seat in the villa directors boxes. I can't bevel you can dis all that because he lives in Bournemouth ? Howard Hodgson is a top guy as any Villa fan who has ever met him will confirm.
  12. Any thing else you want to confess looking at while your at it? (ahem)
  13. I'll ask you the same question as I posed poster Dukes. Would you take Bruce over Lambert as Villa Manager? Again respectfully I also suggest you have a good think before giving us your answer.
  14. I think Stan Balaban knows more than he let's on. Those Oil Rich Sheiks in the UAE have bought his silence.
  15. Maybe we can get the jacksson statue Off the wall.
  16. Steve Bruce and Mark Hughes say hi ! Both have done better and spent much less (Bruce got Hull promoted and safe in the Premier League and spent £32M in two years compared to £40M spent by lambert in the same period, Hughes signed 7 players and spent £7M at Stoke in his first season) points total isn't that much different tbf You've kind of missed the point, Bruce spent less and took a team from the championship into the premier league and they finished above us. Hughes spent £7M on 7 players, completely changed Stokes style of play and finished comfortably above us. The original poster was suggesting that financial constraints had held Lambett back and that no manager could have done better given the circumstances, these two managers archived considerably more in tougher circumstances. So you would take `Potato Head` over Lambert as Villa Manager then? Respectfully I suggest you have a good think before you give us your answer.
  17. It's like you haven't been following the news for the past six months. Aston Villa has had an injury crisis. The only goalscorer we can talk about, has been out injured. So has many other important players. What do you deem to be acceptable for a squad like Villa with these injuries to key members of the squad? 5 more points? 8? So Villa sack a manager for events he has no control over and because Villa lack 1-3 more victories? Andy Carroll is pretty much West Hams only striker and has been out a lot if the season. Michu has been out for a long time and he was a major player for Swansea. It's up to the manager to utilise the players he has got available. Let's not forget in Bowery, Helenious and Holt Lambert still had 3 strikers that he chose to sign, not including gabby and Weiman. & when West Ham were desperately staring down the barrel didn't fat Sam state that they would be ok once he could get a proper team out on the park & that he was confident things would improve dramatically. He was right n' all wasn't he?
  18. What if it was to play however we need to in order to stay safe from relegation? He must be some sort of genius then if he can get so close to getting relegated 2 seasons on the bounce and just about survive with a couple of games to go. Now I agree with you Pacbuddies & the answer was staring you in the face all along. Ofcourse he's a ******** genius.
  19. I'm not dismissing Collymore because he's being negative, I'm dismissing Collymore because in the years he's been at TalkSport, I've never once heard him break an exclusive. He says whatever he thinks will get people to call up, it's how he justifies his paycheck. If it were someone who had any credibility in the game rather than someone who runs his mouth about any shit that trends on Twitter, I might pay attention. Collymore knows shit. Stan regularly announces the correct England line up before it is officially announced. He has credible contacts as do many at Talksport. IIRC they announced early that McLeish was set to be the new Villa Manager but most Villa fans out of incredulity &/or despair totally ignored them. Does this enlighten anyone in any way or is it still the status quo of people putting 2 & 2 together to make 5? You decide.
  20. Not really. The problem isn't the TBAR forum. It's the amount of 'ITK's that have appeared on there, with conflicting stories, some of which have been very far-fetched. I'm sure there are lots of lovely, clever, well-dressed Villa fans on that forum that contribute to great discussions. Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot of planks on there too. Good job there are no `Planks` on VT.
  21. Change the record. This 'there is not another manager out there that could do better than Lambert under the current constraints' line is really starting to become tiresome. There are many managers in the world (yes, I said the world not just the UK) that could do better than Lambert. As we don't know what parameters have been set for PL to work under your conclusion is purely hypothetical. Could Ancellotti or SAF eg have done any better? We simply don't know & because of this they may even have faired even worse. As things stand right now Paul Lambert is the best Manager to progress & develop Aston Villa FC. He has laid the ground work, been set back by injuries & just needs a little bit more time & patience to propel us forward & hopefully with better finance being made availabe a chance to buy a few more gems like Benteke. Which Manager is better placed than Paul Lambert to knows what's actually needed to move us forward? Let's not go back to first base all over again. As you use these same parameters to defend Lambert, presumably your conclusions are also hypothetical, and therefore Pacbuddies' conclusions are just as valid as yours. I use my own two eyes & my half a brain to see the virtues in Paul Lambert, nothing else. ( That's all you need) The parameters are set by Randy Lerner & not by me & he is Chairman & is totally satisfied that Lambo has fulfilled his remit. Therefore there is nothing hypothetical about it. However, Pacbuddies scenario though, definitely is, as he is speculating about other Managers doing better when he is not privy to the parameters set by Randy Lerner. To confirm, predominantly IMO, Lambert has been beset by injuries to his major investments & had it not been for this our progress & development under him would be much more palpable. Hope that set's the record straight for you?
  22. Change the record. This 'there is not another manager out there that could do better than Lambert under the current constraints' line is really starting to become tiresome. There are many managers in the world (yes, I said the world not just the UK) that could do better than Lambert. Yes you did didn't you?
  23. Its a control thing 'I will discuss Aston Villa when I am good an ready' I remember GT refusing to answer questions when we were heavily linked with some player [think it might have been Steve Bull] - he refused to answer questions as he said it would give credibility to the rumour. - In the end he had to come out and say 'nothing doing' - his refusal to discuss it - made the rumour bigger. I fear a similar thing has happened with Lerner and the takeover here. I was always under the impression that the Steve Bull signing was a rumour initially started by Paul Birch. (RIP) Any one else able to confirm this?
