tarjei
Some time ago I added a few exceptions to Adblock, Villatalk being one, but now they don't seem to work anymore. Does anyone know what's changed? I'm using Firefox and under Adblock options I have a new filter group. The exceptions I've added are written like this: @@|http://www.villatalk.com When I right click on this page the only adblock option showing is to re-enable it on this page. When I select that the empty space where the ads should be are removed and the exception is removed from the filter, so cleary adblock thinks that this page is already showing ads. I'm not running anything else that should block them. Unless it's Avast or Spybot doing it. Note that it's not just with Villatalk. All my exceptions are still blocked. tarjei
I don't understand.. turning off all 3 and it still doesn't show ads. Not even in IE, where I have no plug-ins.

tarjei
Tried with an ipad on the same network and that worked fine. Also tried restarting the computer with avast permentatly turned of.. still no luck. A mystery this one!
tarjei
This is so wierd. I think I've found the issue now, but still a bit lost. I've been migrating to a new computer so I checked with every step. Fresh install, adds are showing in FF. I install Avast and ads are still showing I get promted to install an add-on to the browser called Avast! Online Security. Ads no longer showing. So I disable it. Now ads are showing up at another site, but not on villatalk. They have a debug url and it's giving me this DNT (JS): 1 Skjermoppløsning: 1680x1050 Vindusstørrelse: 1680x946 CNT: 1 User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:27.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/27.0 http://adserver.adtech.de/addyn/3.0/1162/5041582/0/-1/ADTECH Ja http://track.adform.net/adfserve/?bn=2369340;click= Ja http://impno.tradedoubler.com/imp?g(16815064)a(1396984) Nei http://www.cxense.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/video-play-button.jpg Ja http://ads.tek.no/img/mpx_logo.png Ja Plugins Shockwave Flash Shockwave Flash 12.0 r0 Java(TM) Platform SE 7 U51 Next Generation Java Plug-in 10.51.2 for Mozilla browsers Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.510.13 NPRuntime Script Plug-in Library for Java(TM) Deploy NVIDIA 3D Vision NVIDIA 3D Vision plugin for Mozilla browsers NVIDIA 3D VISION NVIDIA 3D Vision Streaming plugin for Mozilla browsers So one of those url's it checks is still getting blocked despite disabling the add-on. On my old system it was blocking 3 of them For some reason the add-on isnt't listed in the add-ons in my old computer. I don't know why for sure, but I assume it was becouse I had avast on it for years and just updated it and never re-installed it. limpid Posted March 7, 2014 Administrator Share Posted March 7, 2014 If Avast (or it's plugin) is causing you issues, don't use it.
tarjei
I have disabled it now. But the only place on this site I see ads now is a Betfred ad at the bottom. There used to be an ad in the top right corner of the first post and on top of the page IIRC.
Davkaus
I applaud your efforts, but this must be the first documented instance of an internet user asking for help to see more ads. Edited March 7, 2014 by Davkaus
tarjei
Hehehe, probably true It's annoying me, but it is still a selfish act. There are a few sites I use that makes you chose between either paying a membership to read the articles or allow ads and they were blocked up until I disabled avast and it's add-on. As for Villatalk I spend so much time on it that if I can't click on ads every now and then I will be guilted into donating
dont_do_it_doug.
Donate. If you can afford to build a new PC then I'm sure you can afford £5 towards the upkeep of VT. No more guilt, no more stress. Edited March 8, 2014 by dont_do_it_doug.
