The Badlands. Level 40+ area, and one of the few contested grounds that is "ours" so to speak.

Ally leave you alone here, because they know that the place where all the level 60 horde players meet for 40 man Moltern Core raids. One shout out from a Horde player pretty much means a small army of level 60's will be out and kicking ass within seconds. Fantastic place becuase of that, its the total opposite of Arathi, which can be a no go area for Horde a lot of the time.

  2. Will we need to download the new patch today? If so I bet it'll be a pain in the arse again.

If this is the first patch you have downloaded since having the game installed on your system, then you will find it fairly painless.

No doubt when you installed the game for the first time, you would have to download patches 1.1-1.7 all in one go, and patch 1.6 was a big one because of the battle grounds being added to the game, so it all added up to a large file to get from the intenet.

1.8 will be very small compared to that.

  3. Ah, then you are okay. But the sound on the game really is gorgeous. Lush classical music as you drift around the world, through to sickening bonecrunching combat noises. The sound of a dagger as it hits home still makes me wince.

How does pet taming work anyway? Can you tame anything that is classed as a beast? or only certain things? It its anything, why havent i seen any hunters with a pet giraffe? And are pets all the same, only looking different, or do they all have different qualities? Do you want something fast for PvP that you can send in to disrupt and annoy who you are fighting while you do the real damage with your gun, or do you want something big and strong for PvE to act as a tank while again you deal the damage from a distance.

I know the warlock pets are vaired, allowing you to adopt either strategy (plus some others) so i can only assume its similar for Hunters?

  4. One thing i will say about that Bicks, is that as the thing will be following you around all the time, unless you like listenig to the constant flap-flap-flap-flap-flap-flap-flap-flap-flap sound effect of its wings all day, it will probably piss you off as a while.

Sie who plays regularly with us had a hunter until about level 20 and he had that problem, albeit with a spider, which just made such an annoying noise when it followed him around that he was forced to kill it.

    Oh, the comedy!

Anyway, it looks like it patch night tonight. Thats patch 1.8, so slight game changes (no doubt Warlocks nerfed and Rogues buffed again) but this means that the game will be offline from 2am to 10am (ish)

This also means that if you are online at server closedown, you can make derisory offers for stuff in the Auction House, and hope it times out while the game is offline, meaning you get good stuff at a knockdown price!

  6. My ideas about the classes. Im probably wrong on my opinions of them all, but there you go:

Druid - A hybrid. A lightweight Priest, Rogue and Warrior rolled into one. Gets "travel form" like the Shaman. Very versatile.

Hunter - Ranged damage dealer. Has sneaky traps and tricks and stuff. Has pet to help him.

Mage - Out and out damage dealer. Nice magical spells.

Paladin - Pussy arsed no skill cheap and nasty two button alliance only class. If you see one, kill it.

Priest - main healer, but can hit back quite hard too. Most popular class on the game in terms of how other people react to you. You are basically loved by everybody.

Rogue - Well, its a ninja basically, isnt it? **** amazing at dealing damage.

Shaman - Can do everything, and do it all at the same time too. Overpowered Horde only class. The Alliance hate you, but are probably too scared to do anything about it.

Warlock - Played as one for 39 levels now, and i still dont know what we do. I think we basically exist to **** oppo groups up while other people in the party get the glory. If the Warlock were a Chelsea player, it would be Calude Makelele.

Warrior - The tank. Ass whooping big hitting front line fighter. Can take one hell of a kicking, but can give it out some too.

And addons. Extract and put these in C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns :

    Titan Panel. Get this first.

Combat Sentry Gizmo Its a PvP must really. Get it before you are kicked into the Contested areas.

Auto Shout Out Helps the priest/healer out. Means that you automatically shout for healing when your health falls below a certain level. Very handy.

Scrolling combat text i like this a lot.

Questlevel (does exactly what it says on the tin) Si has a slightly different version called Fastquest

Autobuff If you can buff yourself, you need this. Its fantastic.

Atlas maps of Instances. V good.

There are literally thosands of mods. Bookmark Cursegaming and have a look for yourself.

Edit. When you install the mods, the game will tell you that they are out of date. They arent. Dont worry about the warning.

  7. Its need before greed.

If you want it to use then you type need. If you want it to sell you type greed.

And tanks are always good to have in instances. But Bicks pet can tank, if one of you or TRL is prepared to heal it when needed.

  8. The World or Roguecraft Video

Its actually scary. Especially if you are a Warlock (shit at fighting, no real defence, cloth armour) to see what some of the other classes can do in PvP. Seeing a Rogue running around in Ironforge taking level 60's out, or taking down a level 60 who has a high PvP rank (meaning he is good at fighting) while wearing just his underpants and using the dagger that he started the game with really defies belief. Its amazing how imbalanced the classes can be at times. I still cant think of how a Warlock can beat a Rogue. Any suggestions would be gratefully recived, but i dont think there is an answer.

Video is a big download, but if you have the hard drive space, id say watch it. Especially if you are Dan.

  9. And ive not seen this in ages. Leeroy Jenkins Video.

In fact the first time i saw it, i didnt even have World of Warcraft, so i didnt know half the crap they were talking about, but the sheer comedy gold of it wasnt wasted on me one bit.

If you want to laugh at an American living up to a regional stereotype, then watch it.

Trying to quest in Arathi proves pointless (again) because the Battleground inside is attracting loads of level 50-60 players into a level 30-40 zone.

    aggro12ee.th.jpg

Take this for example. As the Alliance base is right by Stormgarde Keep, and there are loads of quests in there for level 35-40 players, the level 50-60's Alliance waiting for the Battleground will simply join the queue for the Battleground, then just camp in here, so Horde players trying to quest cannot go inside. The Horde entrance to the Battleground is right over the other side of the map, so they tend to stay within the camp while waiting for the Battleground queue.

    aggro22nb.th.jpg

And they dont hesitate in kicking the shit out of any Horde nearby. Even though im outnumbered by about 25-1 here, and they are pretty much all level ?? to me, im toast.

    aggro33jz.th.jpg

I ran up as a ghost after dying to see how many of them there really were. And i couldnt get them all in one screenshot. As well as this lot on the slope, they are in the courtyard either side, on the floor and on the bridge behind me, and some went outside the gate to see if there were anymore players 20-30 levels beneath them that they could kill.

    aggro49bp.th.jpg

And naturally, corpse camping was the order of the day too. Why oh why did Blizzard put a high level instance in a much lower level area? Arathi is practially no-go now, unless you are playing at 2am.

  11. Too many! (Though as a fellow shift worker, im sure you will appreciate that when you are on lates, you spend the day before you are due in to work just waiting to go to work, so ill have a game then, and when i get back in from work its the wee small hours, so i can do anything other than go to bed, so ill have another game then too. If im on earlies, i wont play the game anywhere near as much as when im on lates, but ill probably still put an hour or two a day in. Sad, isnt it? )

  12. Shield = speaks for itself. Its up there with the best armour on the game. Hence good priest tanking. I still would reccomend using a warrior as a tank wherever possible.

Fear = You were on the wrong end of my fear yesterday.

    Swing = **** knows.

Nuke = hit with a big direct damage spell.

Dot = damage over time spell.

    Sleep = speaks for itself.

  13. im looking at about 80,000 from level 38-39 i think. But the XP rewards are better at these levels. Also, make a point of heading to an inn or to a city before you logout for any decent amount of time. I almost always go back to Orgrimmar before i log out. Get a rested XP bonus that way.

A mount will cost you 90 gold. Unless you are a warlock, in which case they are free.
