Any notion that he doesn't have it anymore is just wishful thinking.

With Grealish it’s more a case of availability and the fact he’s wearing a set of golden handcuffs at Manchester City.

He’s 29 three weeks into the new season, he’s got three years left on a contract that pays £300k a week (so £45m remaining) at Manchester City and he’s got a history of missing large chunks of every season through injury going back to his time as a Championship player.

So even if you don’t think his best days are behind him and he isn’t going to go the same way as Eden Hazard did after turning 30, then you’ve got to be pretty damn sure that the money it would take to get him out of Manchester City and the fact that he’ll have practically zero resale value at the end of whatever his next contract is wouldn’t be better spent elsewhere.

I still think he’s a fabulous footballer.  I wouldn’t want him back at Villa.

Shoutout to the post-match analysis team on TNT again. Guy just rattled off the tales of Fiorentina's Euopean final misfortunes (sorry @GarethRDR) at will. Putting the rest to shame.

That’s James Horncastle. He’s been doing football podcasts for years, largely covering Serie A. He’s a big Roma fan, he appears to have lived in Rome on and off during his career and is fluent in Italian.  You can find him working with the ever wonderful James Richardson on The Totally Football Show.

El Kaabi has probably played his way into a decent move this summer.

Watch him get no goals next season for West Ham after paying 25 million for him

I’d be very surprised if he left. He’s 31 in three weeks and this is his first season at Olympiacos.  They’ll easily be able to talk him into staying for the Europa League campaign next season.

  4. What are the potential repercussions for her? I mean is being a figure of fun for a few days while she squirms in the dock as bad as it’s going to get or does the inquiry have any actual teeth?  I’m sure there’s an element of catharsis for the victims here but if the people who ruined their lives all just go back to comfortable lives in big houses next month then has anything actually been achieved?

Why Fury stopped with them body - shots is beyond me

Usyk made an adjustment, he moved further across to Fury’s left and that took the the uppercut to the body away from Fury as the centre line had moved and he couldn’t throw it straight anymore.

Usyk had superior footwork so he was always able to stay in that position. It seemed to me that Fury wasted several rounds trying to make Usyk walk onto a check hook in the corner too but Usyk wasn’t buying it, then Fury’s corner were giving him bad advice seemingly because his dad is a big loud dickhead people are afraid to say no to.

Tamworth v Nuneaton is rather nasty, the last game was abandoned due to crowd trouble and violence. That might stem from the town's hating each other though.

That one was an evening kick off scheduled on the same day as the Atherstone ball game.  What did they expect? :crylaugh:

FWIW this is what I'd have us walk out to if it were my choice.  It's an absolute banger of a tune and that little piano riff is totally something the crowd would chant along with.

Just celebrate our return to the highest echelons of football. It’s got to  be theme from an unmade silent  movie for one season.

They actually played it at Villa Park on Monday night, probably half an hour before kick off.

  9. Any walkout song is better if it's easy to sing along to.  I think people fall into the trap of going for something they like listening to, but the reason why songs like Sweet Caroline or YNWA work so well is because they've got a chorus which is really easy to join in with.   Crazy Train is a superb tune but it's not a sing along tune.

  10. Just realised Emery hasn’t taken us to Palace before. Last season we went there under Gerrard, somehow it feels like it was a million years ago.

Don’t care too much about the result now. I’d quite like one of those crazy final day of the season score lines, like 4-3 or something. Ollie to get his 20th league goal. Is Buendia registered at the moment?
