Manchester City finally score a goal at the new White Hart Lane. A minute earlier the commentator said they’d had 100 attempts on goal there without scoring.

I don’t think we’ve been as bad as the discorse on here would have you believe but Chelsea should have scored a couple of times. Lenglet seems off it again, the well drilled back line of September to December looks sloppy and now opposition are snapping into Dougie early we struggle to use the ball as well as we did before. We’ve still had our moments going forwards, if Chelsea should have scored then so should Youri. I don’t think we’ll win this game but we’ve got a punchers chance.

I thought there was no VAR in the cup?!
There’s no obligation to have it in the cup. If a stadium isn’t set up for VAR then no VAR is required but if it has it then it’s used.- 1

Chelsea have four or five players in their team that I couldn’t tell you if they came out of the academy or were signed for £43m from some team in Italy.

Seems crazy Man City sold him. Looks like a perfect replacement for Silva.
It's not like they are struggling without him. Guardiola has referenced him a couple of times this season when talking about Oscar Bobb, saying that Palmer wanted to leave for first team football, something he wasn't going to get at Manchester City this season. The fact that they got a high price (£40m) for the transfer probably means they won't lose too much sleep over it, that's the absolute most they'd get for someone who was a squad player with a ton of potential.

I believe he worked down at the BIMM Institute on Floodgate Street too. Good dude. He’ll be missed.

Trippier going to Bayern Munich.
TBF I can see the sense in this one. Trippier is an experienced pro who you want in the team because of what he can do with the ball at his feet. He’d looked decent at Newcastle until the last couple of months when maybe Eddies 1000mph football was starting to catch up with him but as a player in a Bayern team who dominate possession in every game they play? He could tear opposition apart. -
Tamworth are at home on the Saturday. It's not much further out of the city centre than Sutton Coldfield really, some 20 minutes on the train and their ground is barely half a mile from the station. They've got a good team this season too, absolutely walking the league.

I thought members might get a chance with these, but it appears not
You might be able to get in on the returns but the system they use to allocate away tickets basically mean it's a closed shop. Because people get a head start on being able to buy them once they have a booking history then they are practically incentivised to snap up tickets ASAP just to keep collecting that booking history.
It's so easy to sell the away tickets on the secondary market for games they can't/don't want to attend that it's impossible to lose out.

Just chiming in to agree with the consensus really. Carlos wouldn't be playing if we had a fully fit squad, he's nowhere near the quality of Pau, Konsa or Mings. He's going to be in the picture for the remainder of this season, but unless Mings doesn't recover fully from the injury then I don't think Carlos should have a long term future at the club.

Saw Real Madrid were 3-1 up against Barca, then remembered it’s the Spanish Charity Shield which gets played mid season in Saudi Arabia and is basically rigged so Real Madrid and Barca are in it every time.
I don’t think I’ve had my interest piqued and deflated this quickly since Kerri Evans flashed a bit of bra at teenage The_Rev in the woods behind my High School but immediately vomited over herself because she had necked half a bottle of Kiwi Fruit flavoured MD20/20 about twenty minutes earlier.

PSV are romping home in the Eredivisie. So far this season they have a 100% record. P17 W17 D0 L0 GD+52 Pts51.

Just Juventus really. I find Barcelona’s smugness to be irritating, I don’t particularly care for the legions of plastic Liverpool and Manchester United fans and I’ve got an odd relationship with Blues in that it’s on when we play them but I’d rather they exist than have the West Midlands full of yet more plastic glory hunters.

Christ, I had no idea she was that old. Doesn't seem like 5 minutes since Janice Long passed yet that was 2021. Times a flying.
Same. But now I think about it I’d just assumed she was in her fifties for about 30 years. She was kinda timeless because she always moved with the times.- 1

They’ve had significant injuries and other selection issues for most of the season so far
Yep. Running into every tackle at a thousand miles an hour works in the short term but injuries will pile up.

After the penalties awarded tonight and in the Liverpool vs Newcastle game, Aaron Ramsey fouling Jhon Duran suddenly looks like Harald Schumacher on Patrick Battiston in 1982.

After decorating the home end bar in black and white and then rolling over for them on the pitch, Sunderland also accidentally gave Newcastle fans hundreds of pints of free beer after the game:
QuoteSunderland cap miserable week by giving Newcastle fans free beer
A wi-fi outage meant that supporters could not pay for pints that had already been poured by staff at Sunderland’s ground after the away side’s FA Cup victory
Martin HardyJanuary 08 2024, 12.01am
Newcastle fans were given free beer by Sunderland at the Stadium of Light after their 3-0 victory in the Tyne-Wear derby on Saturday.
Newcastle were backed by 6,000 travelling supporters for the FA Cup third-round tie and, to allow for such a big away following, the fans were bussed directly to and from the Stadium of Light, with many remaining in the North Stand after full-time as the bars stayed open.
To meet the demand from those supporters and speed up the serving process, bar staff were pouring pints in advance of customers, but then all card machines went offline when Sunderland’s wi-fi crashed, resulting in jubilant Newcastle fans being handed pints for no charge in the cashless stadium.

I still find it incredible that you can get internet access on the London Underground but it’s so spotty sometimes that you don’t see bumped posts and end up writing in the wrong thread.
