  1. That is probably the funniest thing I've ever read on these boards. Glad to have brought a smile to your face. Which bit did you find the funniest? I think it is a difficult choice between 'Mark Hughes' and 'Wales' as to which one is the funnier.
  2. Managers of the calibre of Ancelotti are very few and far between and they are not usually available when it is time to appoint a new manager of AVFC. If we miss this opportunity it may not present itself again for quite some time.
  3. Well if its anything like the real world, then Randy probably thinks Carlo's 'over qualified'. That would be a very sad indictment of his ambition and AVFC if it were true.
  4. Mark Hughes won nothing as manager of Wales, he won nothing as manager of Man City and he won nothing as manager of Fulham and he quit his post with them after one season when they were willing to give him a job when no other club was willing to take him. However, Ancelotti has won numerous trophies in his time as a manager at various clubs including winning the Champions League twice and he took Chelsea to double winning success in 2009/2010. Now, if I was faced with the CV's of these two I think I know which one would impress me the most.
  5. Well Gabby is not the brightest button in the box so I wouldn't believe anything coming from him. Why would Randy want to appoint someone who has got less than a quarter of the votes than that of the fans favourite? The appointment of a manager reflects the level of ambition of the club. To appoint Hughes would clearly state that the ambition is very low.
  6. If he joins AVFC I'll take him out to the finest Italian restaurant and buy him as much spaghetti as he can eat.
  7. Without any doubt. Ancelotti is great manager. But do you really think he will arrive to Villa Park? He costs, and do we have the money to get him and to buy outstanding players? Do the club have ambitions to be in top four? Why did we got Houllier? To create future team. But he is sacked after nine months. Is it possible that our goal is to create another future team? We had MON, we needed money to buy some players. MON didn't get the money. I think Ancelotti is too big for Villa. Sorry. (of course I will be happy if he comes. It would be statement -Villa wants to be in Champ. League-) I would normally agree with you, however... The guy wants to stay in England and I don't see any other realistic possibility unless Redknapp was to leave Spurs this summer. People mention QPR will have money to spend but there has been no proof yet that the money is there and have already made a set wage budget for next season which isn't that big. Hughes id definitely out of the question. No way would Sky Bet let his price from 1/20 on to evens if their source wasnt accurate. As for Ancelotti being too big... Sell Stephen Ireland, his 80k a week will pay Ancelotti's wages. Plus Ancelooti said last week he wouldnt rule out listening to West Ham offers...he obviously like managing in England, and we are the biggest club available at the moment. Well if he would consider Wet Spam then we have every chance because they are a nobody club run by ex scum who haven't got a clue what they are doing. ...in london. So is AFC Wimbledon but I doubt he would go there.

It would be statement -Villa wants to be in Champ. League-) Why shouldn't Ancelotti come to Villa? We should have the ability as a club to aim for the top four. We could only be limited by a lack of ambition by the club not by a lack of desire by the fans. Houllier did not get the sack he left by mutual consent due to medical reasons and I wouldn't give MON money to buy sweets as he would just waste it all.
  10. Isn't that just because everyone is getting carried away and lumping on him ? I'd take a 33/1 flutter on Deschamps I got 33/1 on Ancelotti yesterday so please Mr Lerner do the right thing and appoint him.
  11. Well apart from the fact that he got the scum relegated I can't think of any other plus points.
  12. Well only 5% of the poll on this site wants him. Not sure that constitutes 'the man we all want'.
  13. Of all the options available then Ancelotti is the stand out name. Hughes, Moyes, McLaren, Coyle etc. would be a negative step. If Lerner was trying to start some sort of continental revolution when he appointed Houllier then not to appoint someone of the calibre of Ancelotti and go for the boring safe names would be going backwards.
  14. Ancelotti and Wilkins would be the best and most exciting appointment ever made by Villa. I hope Randy has the foresight and balls needed for this level of appointment but I have a dreaded fear that it will be a boring, play it safe type of appointment like Hughes, or Moyes.
  15. Has to be Ancelotti. Hughes, Moyes, McLaren etc. would all be safe, boring, stability type appointments.
  16. What bookie is giving odds on MON?? FFS. Wonder what odds I would get on an Ancelotti/Wilkins double appointment?
  17. Holding back on the purchase of my season tickets pending the next managerial appointment. If RL **** up again then it's a pile of money spent elsewhere.
  18. Well said, although I think the 'Stability' Police might get you!!
  19. Dear Mr Lerner, Can you please appoint a manager that will give us several years of stability. I realise that stability means that little progress will be made but it would appear that this is the buzz word of the day and the extent of the ambition of some fans. I appreciate that the best plan would be to make progress, especially after 5 years or so in charge, but apparently we are just Villa and we are not capable of anything greater. I trust that you won't disappoint. Best Regards, Me
  20. I meant stability for a season or two, We need a manager who will stay and build a team slowly again, It took City 2 years with a infinite of funding to make the Champions League. If you think we can make the CL next season or even the season after you are deluded with our finances it would take 3 or 4 seasons at least to make it. How many more years of 'Stability' do you want? Clubs seeking 'Stability' have no ambition. I never mentioned CL although I think those words were mentioned as part of the 5 year plan when RL took charge. Do you think the owners of Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, Spurs, Liverpool want 'Stability' for a year or two as their aspiration/objective for their respective clubs? Reading all the comments about 'Stability' makes me wonder whether we are any better than Stoke, Bolton, Fulham etc. as this is the sort of aspiration/objective I would expect from them. If Villa fans accept and expect 'Stability' as the norm and never aspire to anything greater then what's the point? Have you seen the last 12 months no stability means you dint get to where you want to be. You need a stable base to build from, I guarentee you even if we had Mourinho in charge we would still not make the CL in 2 years The last 12 months have nothing to do with 'Stability'. The season was defined by a series of unplanned and unforeseeable events. By the way, I don't recall ever mentioning making the CL within 2 years. People need to look beyond the end of the nose in front of their face and think outside of the box and then they just might see that having positive aspirations can make things possible.
  21. After this last season exactly the point. Well said So we need to stand still before we can move forward. What a negative and narrow minded approach.
