  1. Liverpool owners are poor. In the US, baseball contracts are just salaries, there is no such thing as transfer fees. Every baseball player, when their contract is up, leaves on what football fans think of as a Bosman. Those big salaries are supported by Boston Red Sox ticket prices, the highest in the Major Leagues. They will not be spending money like our owner.
  2. He is separated from his wife. She lives in Argentina and refuses to go to the UK, though reportedly she would consider moving to Spain as it's warm and Spanish-speaking. We will miss Tevez's passion. However even if he doesn't play another match for us again, with City's money, his replacement is not far off. Torres or Dzeko it is, then. And you wonder why people call City fans arrogant tossers. Is it really arrogant to assume we'll sign another striker? Tevez is a loss for us that can only be measured by our future performances. I would prefer Dzeko although Torres is proven Prem class, but his form and fitness have dipped. Not a bad dilemma to have, though.

  4. On one had, very sad to lose Carlos. On the other, this was inevitable with all the talk of leaving. He told us several times he was thinking of quitting football. He did it close enough to the January transfer window that we can buy another striker if he leaves.
  5. You overpaid for Barry definitely but I'd definitely maintain that in the current market Milner is a £25m centre midfielder. Just Mancini plays him out wide where he is an average player. Yes. The quality is there, but he's being wasted out of position. He will come good if he gets a chance.
  6. Yeah, he was priced high but my judgment is impaired by Mansour's money. :winkold: After watching Villa several times, it looks like a position you need. I never saw a reason why Villa couldn't have pulled a Tottenham and became a top 4 or 5 club. You have a larger capacity stadium in a second city and good financial support from Lerner. At one time your resources were better than Wenger's.
  7. Blue Moon is nice, though. It doesn't merge everything into 100+ page topics like most football sites. Villa fans are alright on the whole. It is understandable that some of them hate us because we took their players. Although I must say, the price we paid for them is well in excess of their market value, so I don't feel too bad. Lerner could have easily strengthened the squad with some foreign purchases. Was really surprised when you didn't buy someone like Asamoah Gyan or Gervinho.
  8. Ahahahaha, they want to fail! Good news for Villa. They took Pardew over Jol. You could get Jol if Houllier makes a mess of it.
  9. Christ, that was unlucky. You looked like going 2-1 and it's 3-0.
  10. You're showing fight this half. Liverpool look passive in defence. I could see you staging a comeback.
  11. Thanks to you taking 2 of our best players! If you'd invested the money we gave you in proper defenders and a CAM... :?
  12. Worst Villa performance in my memory. The players have just quit like they don't care anymore. You might be fighting for relegation without Jol.
  13. Feck me, that was awful. He was offside but the defending was shiiiite.
  14. Christ, I was hoping you lot would win. Your back 4 need sorting.
  15. My God, the back 2 are having a 'mare. Ooooh Albrighton.
  16. Beat the crap out of Le Arse! Make the prawn sandwich eaters cry!
  17. IMHO you should win the league this year, and if you don't, given the amount of money you have spent, it should be seen as a failure .... You wouldn't be alone with that opinion if you were a City fan.
  18. Don't matter what we think. The boss is in love with him, even though he's looked hopelessly out of position at winger. Nevertheless, guess where we see him every week? Winger! Urgh. Maybe a shock result at Fulham will change his mind. He'll really be braving a shower of shite if our old gaffer beats us! In his first spell at VP James Milner was a player that you admired for his work rate, but always left the ground wondering what he actually did. During his second spell he came of age and I still think that he is the finest English midfielder of his generation. If he survives the constant turnover of staff, he will be at the forefront of Citeh's inevitable success. If not, he will undoubtedly be a Liverpool or Tottenham player in a couple of years time. Thanks, mate. That is exactly how I feel watching him. I'm wondering what he did near the opponent's goal for most of the match. His workrate is immense, though. I really want him to succeed. He's got a fantastic attitude, hard to find right now with certain players at City. Hard not to like the guy as he's always positive and never a bad word to say about anything. But he has never once gotten around the fullback. He's a fantastic crosser. His pace is passable, though not really optimal winger speed. His shooting ability is wasted at narrow angles to the goal. I see him eventually occupying Barry's spot since he tackles and reads the game well.

  20. Milner's played every match he's been available for us. So has Barry. We have guys like Silva and AJ frequently as subs for those two, Mancini wouldn't do that if he didn't rate them.
  21. More or less I feel the same way. Silva has played his best on the left this last match. Hopefully Mancini allows Silva to play left wing and puts Milner in the middle behind Tevez. I don't see why we bought him if it's going to be a constant struggle to turn him into a natural winger.
  22. It would be even nicer if we could have James Milner back. Milner has basically had one outstanding match for us against Liverpool. So far he really hasn't had a huge impact for us.
  23. Mates, problem always has been getting him motivated. He's always had the class, but he reminds me a bit of Adebayor mentally. Swore he bled blue for City, somehow he didn't show this mentality on the pitch. Would be nice if Houllier lit a fire under him.
