Just heading home from the game. Thought we were solid for 65 mins then when the Elmo OG went in it was a sense of ‘here we go again’. Then the ref decided to play his part which led to a ‘he must have Burton or Draw in the work sweepstake’ before Jack finished really well and I thought we were home and hosed. However, to switch off like that at the end was absolutely criminal and we were deservedly punished for it.
As others have said, the substitutions didn’t make much sense at the time (taking both of our wingers off at the same time - although I can see it as thinking the game was won and saving them for next week, which smacks somewhat of arrogance) and it gave Burton impetus. Axel was impressive and I will be proud to say we aided his development, as with Walker and Milner.
We still need to remember to play the full 90+howevermanyminutes the ref wants to give.
Overall though, pleased to get the win, 6 on the bounce and bring on SHA next week for the Magnificent Seven.

This is what I used to hate about Manure fans. Now I finally understand how good it feels

We've always been marked as a game at home where if the opposition can stifle us quickly the fans turn. The Secret Footballer mentioned it in his book, various others have mentioned it too. We have a reputation, this is nothing new.
Unfortunately DOL is right, we are a fickle bunch as soon as things aren't going our way we turn - the team we have should be good enough though to be able to play well regardless of this.
If the fans are such a big part of our inability to play well at home, why don't we just not turn up or play behind closed doors

Fans sound superb. As per.

Used to really enjoy Aston Villa Review but not a fan of MOMS

If it stays as is, whilst heartily laughing at the unwashed (as per usual); tomorrow becomes an absolute must win - if it wasn't already. He'll be out if we lose - even 'non-football' people can read a league table - as evidenced by my GF from Canada who knows nothing about football, who, when I showed her the table, said 'Villa really are shit aren't they?'

Bizarre to me how everyone outside of the team (even Bacuna in his comments when joining them) knew that Reading would play keepball and knock it around the back waiting for an opening yet it took 75mins for anyone to even have a go at closing them down.

Was there tonight. Very very poor but fans as usual were very good
Reading bastardising our McGrath chant was blasphemy in the extreme.
Bruce needs to be gone ASAP.

At the game. It's very very poor

Will be interesting if we win tonight with 2 of those earmarked as representative of our decline on the bench.

The hotel attached to the stadium are turning away fans with colours on away in case anyone was planning to go there for a drink

The bookies make us favourites to win this one.
Fiver on Reading it is then.
Also stick everything you have on Bacuna to score

Looking forward to seeing him lift the playoff trophy in full kit after being suspended for the final.

Awarded Sky Bet Championship Ground of the Year.
We do always seem to be commended on our pitch. I'm sure I read somewhere our old Head Groundsman went off to Barca or Bayern or somewhere like that
