  1. Sigh… would expect this from the lot across the city. (I know it doesn’t state he is a Villa fan but putting 2+2 together)

Man handed three year banning order after shouting racist slur at Raheem Sterling at Villa Park
A man has been handed a three year banning order after he racially abused Chelsea and England player Raheem Sterling during a game at Villa Park.

Timothy Hyslop was heard to shout out a racist slur when Sterling was on the ball during the first half of the Premier League game between Aston Villa and Chelsea on 16 October last year.

  2. Thought Emery’s post match interview to the the in house channel was excellent. Looking straight at the camera I felt like he was deliberately addressing us and finishing it with ‘we need to change things’ gives me hope that we can kick on when he has the players he wants

Sky have given the players a reason to be there since 1992.
Last year (2021-2022) only £700M of the £5,400M received by Premier league clubs came from matchday revenue.

Football was around before 1992. Are you suggesting there was never booing of a poor performance before then? Also why were the players there before 1992?

  4. In my opinion the booing was for the performance in the first half as evidenced by the loud Unai Emery’s Claret & Blue Army straight after.

I wasn’t there but watched the game. Would have been booing if I was there as the first half was absolutely terrible and I would have resented paying ticket & transport money on a Wednesday evening just after Christmas and New Year and after work to watch that performance.

Support is a 2 way street, fans sounded right behind the players from the off but players didn’t respond in the first half leading to reduction in support.

Stats here for the first half: https://www.flashscore.co.uk/match/d8NOBd1K/#/match-summary/match-statistics/1

Second half much better as fans responded to players’ efforts and players responded to the fans’ efforts.

Stats for the second half: https://www.flashscore.co.uk/match/d8NOBd1K/#/match-summary/match-statistics/2

It’s a symbiotic relationship. One can’t survive without the other, both need the other to survive. Also not for one second suggesting it’s the be all and end all that dictates a performance - as someone else said if we were 2-0 down at half time but had put the effort in the reaction would have been very different.

Glad we got a point out of it and very pleased with Emery so far, let’s hope it continues.

  5. Boring first half.

    Insipid second half.

Vanity exercise playing his mate Phil.

    No leadership on the pitch.

    Couldn’t respond tactically.

Left a clearly woefully out of form ‘Captain’ on.

Baffling substitutions (eg why take DL off?)

He can’t have much longer surely.

I feel sorry for the donkeys, we all know what happened last time they were up there on mass. For younger readers they cut several of the poor animals with Stanley’s

I’m assuming they tried to cut the animals from behind and received a swift kick to the sister-botherer
