Born in Sutton, moved to Aylesbury for work. This place is shockingly connected meaning that midweek games are no go’s and Saturday games are a logistical operation

Here we gooooo Nicolo’s having a bet.
In all seriousness though if true I’d rather we terminate the loan since he’d likely be banned anyway. I really like him as a player and would be gutted if this happened but we have to think about what kind of club and team we want to be

Our number 8 shirt is cursed.
Terrible performance all round

Genuinely believe the number 8 is cursed for us. Who was the good player to wear it for us? Milner?

Reminds me of watching us play in the Championship.
Dendoncker off for Digne and move McGinn back to where he should be ASAP please Unai

First time I’ve managed to get to a game for a while and my god the people sat behind me in A1 row F 28-31.
Moaning we didn’t attack the holte first half
moaning we didn’t go long
moaning we were holding onto possession
moaning we didn’t play a pass into space when it wasn’t on
Awful awful negativity.
Ruined the experience for 84 minutes as I haven’t been able to get to a game for various reasons.
They left after 85 mins

Since when has Nanny MacPhee been part of the Scotland set up?
-
No one will win or lose the league on the opening day. We’ve been comfortably the second best team in this game and hopefully we will improve.

Where are the VAR lines?
-
Bury as I have family connections there
Wycombe as I’ve lived in the area for the last 12 years

I know it is only a small detail - but I love the fact that the whole interview was done in Spanish rather than having the questions asked in English with a translator. Just makes it easier for the player and is a good way to make him feel more comfortable in his first official "job" as a Villa employee. Hopefully a sign that we are a bit better prepared for helping players settle into England, Birmingham and the club. Obviously, there is a pretty big Spanish network at the club now (and am not sure how well they all speak English) so maybe this is the exception rather than the rule? But I suspect that the off-field staff are much more aware of the challenges coming to a new country and so are in a better position to ensure that the right support is available to all players. It is easy to forget just how much stuff you need to do when moving to a new country and so having someone available to help with that (especially if English isn't your first language and you are not familiar with "obvious" things that you need to do) can go a long way to helping players (and also their wives, girlfriends, boyfriends, kids, etc) settle quickly.
IIRC we were one of the first (if not the first) PL clubs to appoint a player liaison officer to help with that. Think it was in the Little/Gregory years?

I'd say a peaceful, smug Monday morning at work now.
Expecting a lot of calling in sick at JLR Monday?

If we're looking at the refereeing, I also think Arsenal should be picking up a fine for Xhaka and the celebrations.
He'd been substituted and made the decision to run from the bench right across the pitch to get involved in the celebrations - he ran past the referee who told him to go back and then the ref booked him when he was making his way back to the bench (and got an earful from Xhaka for it).
I appreciate that players get emotional, but letting one that isn't playing come off the bench and run 60 yards across the pitch is the dictionary definition of "failing to control your players".
Agreed but I can’t find any record of Xhaka getting booked, which if true is annoying as I had money on him to be carded
