  1. What better incentive for him to go and do something about it! I'm not a fan of his, but I'm also fully aware I don't need to be. I'm not likely to be going drinking with him anytime soon after all. He's here to do a job, not be my friend - and being the winner he is, he'll do everything possible to achieve his high goals That's good enough for me. A few ruffled feathers may be a good thing too. Some players get to laidback at clubs, a kick up the arse every now and again works wonders for keeping people on their toes
  2. Did that bother you and make our achievement any less satisfying in May '82 ?
  3. I bet i'm not the only person on here that LOATHED Big Ron before he came to Villa. I couldn't stand the bloke. But once he came to MY club and did his best for us that changed overnight. Thats football for you. And if knocker Thompson comes he'll be getting my full support too.
  4. I'm not sure what the hell you're talking about to be honest If he's quit it's because he's coming to Villa. He can hardly do both jobs can he? Hope MacDonald is happy to go back to doing what he's great at. Unless his head has been turned by the bright lights
  5. Seems a good idea General. Put yer feet up and take a load off for a week or so. All will be back to normal in a few weeks
  6. To be fair, people are perfectly entitled to think he's a clearing in the woods He hasn't exactly been complimentary to our club over the years. Including the last few weeks
  7. Just people putting 2+2 together and coming up with concorde face Lets not forget Thompson said only a few weeks ago Villa were overachieving being 6th in the league. If he does come with Gerard maybe the club will have to come out and issue a new set of standards to which we're now aiming so Phil doesnt get any big ideas about trying to overachieve
  8. Not sure they would be interested to be fair. Unless Curbs got the job of course!
  9. Not when O'Neill was appointed to do a long term job though! 63 is hardly an age to 'START' building a side
  10. If its Houllier, then like any manager he'll get my full support It's hardly an inspiring choice though, and screams SHORT TERM due to his age. Which doesn't fit in with the building a dynasty line But, hey ho. Onwards we go
  11. As someone who reads the General's posts all the time i'd love to know what these 'worse things than O'Leary ever did' were ? He's never said one thing that i've took as offensive in all his time here
  12. Stick with Kevin, have a season where we could finish bottom half (or worse) and then try and entice a manager like Moyes from that position ? Not likely is it! If we stick with Kevin, we've also got to get a bloody move on and employ a whole host of new staff pronto
  13. Based on what logic ? He's at a club of similar stature and has been for 7/8 years (I think) and has pretty much hit the glass ceiling with them now. The only way they will go further is with a big cash push which we know they havent got. The one thing we can offer him that they can't is a billionaire owner. Whether Randy would give him the funds to take US through that glass ceiling who knows ? But he sure as hell isn't ever going to get the funds to do it at Everton and i'm sure he knows that too. He's effectively just treading water every season now. At some point you need to take a new challenge just for your own sake. He can hang on in in the vain hope he'll be offered the Man Utd job one day but thats one hell of a gamble. And none of the other 'BIG 4' are likely to come knocking anytime soon are they ? Which leave us
  14. Last season, even as a season ticket holder I couldn't get a ticket for this game. This time I got one no probs and there are lots left apparently Weird.
  15. Sadly there's nothing to suugest we have either. Which is why people are getting in a 'tizzy' The only names we're hearing from people allegedly ITK, are out of work managers, most of whom havent been employed for a while. Is it that we have offered the job to some top names who are in work and all have turned us down flat or is it that we havent even tried ? That's the only question I can see that folks are worried about. If we're that an unattractive proposition to top names then i'm very worried.
  16. Whats all this 'who are available' nonsense ? You don't just buy players that are out of contract do you?, you make offers and they either become available or they don't No different with managers. If you don't ask you don't know
  17. Houllier and Staunton ... really whets the appetite Champions League here we come Not.
  18. True they can, but he as a supporter can also say/think whatever the **** he wants as its his club
  19. About halfway through last season, I was fed up of H&V's anti O'Neill brigade and stopped viewing their site. Their constant opinion was we could do much better than O'Neill and should get rid there and then. Their theory being, that if he left we'd have our pick of the best managers (outside the top 4) queueing round the block for the chance to manage us I wonder what they're thinking now ? Its the dregs of the managerial graveyard and nothing else it seems
