  1. Good signing for them. Wouldn't be of any use to us as we're not after that kind of player
  2. Have you had a bump on the head this morning mate ???
  3. Everton players i'd love to have in our squad Rodwell Arteta Fellani Cahill Jagielka Pienaar and if you asked Everton fans how many of our players they'd want. I bet it wouldn't be any more than that!
  4. Mac's games so far : West Ham (H) Superb performance, but Milner ran the show Rapid (A) Decent enough performance, bit lucky to secure draw Newcastle (A) Disaster, crazy team selection. Woeful lack of effort Rapid (H) Not great. Not as bad as some said. Everton (H) 100% effort and graft, but extremely fortunate to win. Would we have won if we'd played with the original 11 selected ?. Doubt it.
  5. That kind of 'shite' would walk into our side. Fellani or NRC/Petrov ? No brainer! Saha or Heskey (and maybe even Carew) ??? Come on lad. Get real
  6. General Just woke up to the news that MacDonald has declared his interest in taking the job. Is this wise seeing as he doesnt fit any of the criteria that you laid out last week in the qualities we're looking for in a new manager ? Unless we're now classifying a few games as 'experience' in being a proven premiership winning manager. Hopefully not Ulver
  7. What even though it goes against everything the General said we were looking for in the next manager?
  8. It doesnt have to be one or the other IMO. Its a SQUAD game
  9. That Woodhall fellow on H&V said its definitely not going to be Moyes. He's had word from someone 'ITK' and Moyes isnt on the shortlist apparently Very disapointing
  10. Yep As much as I want it to be true, I'm prepared for the crushing blow tomorrow when Moyes/Everton issue a statement saying he's going nowhere
  11. WTF is Tor-Kristian Karlsen ? If we somehow managed to persuade Moyes to make a sidewards move to us then it'd be up there with the best managerial appointments we'd ever made IMO It seems a high unlikely scenario though, seeing as we're practically the same as Everton in every single way. Unless Randy's going to open the chequebook again That said. There comes a time in every managers career when he's taken the club he's at as far as he can. O'Neill did it with us of course. Maybe Moyes could push us on, alternatively maybe O'Neill could push them on. Sometimes a change is required for all sides to move forwards
  12. Ireland and Reo Coker may work as Coker's legs are better than Petrov's
  13. Lasted one year at each. Benfica - the team finished the Portuguese League in third place (behind rivals Porto and Sporting) and was knocked out of the Portuguese Cup in the quarter-finals (after losing to Vitória de Guimarães). This, along with an offer from PSV, sufficed for the manager to leave one year before the end of his contract, even though Benfica reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League before losing to Barcelona, who ended up winning the trophy. PSV - In the 2006–07 season, Koeman served as head coach of PSV, as successor of Guus Hiddink. PSV dominated the first season half, putting competitors as AZ and Ajax at a reasonable distance and PSV was almost destined to become champions again. However, PSV suffered in the second half of the season, also because of injuries of players Jefferson Farfán, Alex and Ibrahim Afellay, obtaining only 19 out 39 possible points.[7] AZ and Ajax regained their momentum, making for a close finish, with all three teams tied at 72 points before the last competition day.[8] AZ played struggling Excelsior in their final match, but did not manage to win. Ajax played at Willem II, but did not score enough goals; it was PSV eventually who triumphed against all odds, winning at home 5–1 against Vitesse Arnhem, and thereby becoming Eredivisie champions on goal difference.
  14. Koeman sounds glamourous but he never stays at a side long and his results are very up and down More worryingly. The Express & Star claim tonight that Dave Jones is one of the names under consideration ... That would be the final nail in the coffin for sure!
  15. Alan Curbishley would be as welcome as a fart in a sauna.
  16. £16m and Bentley they can have him or £10m and Bentley and Jenas. You must be mental.
  17. Venables? Time to lock the door and throw away the key
  18. He's launching Hendrie & Brown's tanning salon in the Holte Suite
  19. Mac's aftermatch interview last night was grim listening. Sounded like a man without a clue. Sounded almost at ease with the defeat
  20. Hi General I'm one of those supporters who turn up at Villa Park without caring what the current side is like. I'm a supporter after all. And supporting Aston Villa is what I do. I go to Villa Park whatever divison we are in. But I think its becoming fairly obvious that we're heading for a season of low crowds because the floating fans (not supporters) wont renew season tickets or take up the matchday option because they need to be enticed through the doors. Everyone knows we've been dying for a bums on seats signing (specifically a striker) for the last 10 years or so. Yet we're still waiting. Add to this the managerial farce and well, lets be honest. The floating fans are not going to be tempted back anytime soon. Its sad to say but the prospect of watching the same side who hit a brick wall in previous seasons being put out again without any strengthening is not a crowd puller. Even at £10 I bet a fair few have decided not to bother. Thankfully you'll still have around 23-25k blind faith idiots like me turning up to at least make it worthwhile opening the gates. But I'll guarantee you, The only way we'll get the missing fans back is by making them sit up and think 'WOW' whats going on here. Sadly. That doesn't look like happening anytime soon.
  21. I cna't believe anyones fallen for this new manager tomorrow bullshit
