  1. Why is it that we always sit deep when under a little bit of pressure, it never works and always ends up with us conceding. I understand after the horror 15-goal episode people don't want to be too gung-ho, but the least you have to do is pressure the opposition, and not give them all the time and space to do whatever they want to do in your half while you wait around in and around your box, it's suicide!

  2. Paul Lambert was wheeling his shopping trolley across the supermarket car park when he noticed an old lady struggling with her bags of shopping. He stopped and asked, “Can you manage dear?” to which the old lady replied, “No way you got yourself into this mess, don’t ask me to sort it out!”

  3. Read my post on the previous page. He gives the ball away more than any other player.

Bannan is nothing like Modric. He's had plenty of chances to prove himself and failed. Like previous people have said, he's Championship standard at best

Watch the equaliser against ipswich, it was Bannan who pulled off a brilliant long pass for Zog to play in Bent. Without him there would be no goal. Games turn on midfield players having the vision to exploit opportunities like that, and Bannan has that ability to see the decisive pass, rather than just pass it sideways. The problem with Bannan's contribution is that he's often provides the assist for the assist, and that doesn't show up on stats as easily as goals or assists, and leads people to think he contributes nothing attacking wise - which is untrue, as stated in an earlier example as well:

"against Liverpool, Bannan turned fantastically(which left Lucas on the floor) before playing a one two with Weimann and then passing to Benteke which led to THAT back heel goal."

Defensively he's meh, but he's useful in attacks, more so than KEM or Delph.

    Lowton-Vlaar-Baker-Lichaj

    Westwood

    Holman-Ireland-Bannan

    Bent-Weimann

I actually think Bent-Weimann worked pretty well in the first few games, good link-up play in and around the box. Benteke is too inconsistent, and we tend to play more hoofball with him, when really I don't think that's the best way to retain possession, because even though he tends to win them, we still end up losing the ball.

And I don't know why Lichaj gets such a bad rep, he does okay at LB, he's defensively solid, whereas Bennett is a severe liability. You rewatch the Spurs game, during the second half, almost none of the attacks came down the right, most came down the left and through the centre. Why? because Bennett was the weak link in our defense and they targeted that area as he's constantly being sucked into the centre and then doesn't have the pace to recover when the ball is played out wide back to his flank.

And Vlaar-Baker instead of Vlaar-Clark because Baker has shown to be the better defender in the past few games.

  5. That's pretty harsh IMHO, Delaney was one of our strongest players, albeit at a time when the squad had zero investment in it. He did a solid job alongside Mellberg at CB because the club couldn't go and buy another centre half. He coaches at the club nowdays doesn't he?

Yea, I think he works at the academy. He was one of the few good out-and-out right backs we've had in recent years, along with Luke Young. Although I think Lowton's been decent at CB, hopefully he doesn't play there so often, don't want to waste a good RB in another position again i.e. Luke Young at LB.

  6. Ireland got the ball near the edge of the box, but overran it into some soton defenders, the ball bounced off them and to the left where lichaj/bannan crossed it in - Benteke/Bent won the header flicked it on to the other, but a soton defender managed to head it out to the box where ireland volleyed the ball towards goal and bent applied a decisive touch to guide it past the keeper.
