  1. Was easily outmuscled by opposition players last season. Grant Holt, in particular, comes to mind. The problem with Bennett when I saw him last season was that opposition managers would ask their battering ram forwards to play up against him, deliver balls to their forwards on Joe's flank to cause him trouble, and it worked quite often as Bennett struggled to contain them.

His defensive positioning for the most part, at least seems to be there, but it's not much use for someone to get the positioning right, but still get easily beat in their position. Hopefully he's bulked up a little and is less easy to brush aside.

Still a step-up over Luna though however, who always seems to be caught out of position!

  2. We need that drive in midfield to create more space and uncertainty over who to mark in our opponents.

Westwood and KEA don't drive forward with the ball, they always look to move the ball on immediately, and when they come up against their man and can't make the obvious pass to the nearest guy, they pass it backwards. It's retarded, and even if they manage to pass it on to any of the nearest guys, they would have already been closed down. In our midfield only Delph is able to drive the ball forward and create space for the team. Westwood and KEA are so predictable to play against. Forget premier league opposition, any decently organised league 1 midfield would find defending against KEA/Westwood pretty easy. Delph is the only wildcard in there.

Yea, and my point is Sylla provides something different. At this point I think we should try Bacuna, Delph and Sylla, to provide strong running from midfield and directness.

  3. KEA is a liability.

He and Westwood never seems to want to drive forward with the ball, which makes it predictable to defend against! They will always look to pass the ball on the moment they get it. But at least Westwood plays some good passes to the wings at times. KEA doesn't.

We can only play with one of them not both.

  4. We remind me of West Brom under Mowbray.

Our passing football is too predictable. With the exception of Benteke, Delph and sometimes Gabby, everyone else also automatically looks to pass the ball on the instant they get it. They don't hold it up or run with it to create space, and eventually the ball gets worked back to the keeper.

If we want to play this way, we need more players who are willing to drive with the ball forward or create space for themselves, because all our stupid attempts at working the ball forward is predictable and easily sussed out.
