  1. Whoah Barry has already bagged 2 goals this season!
  2. Needs to be sacked surely? When Sherwood and Garde first came in, they both had a good run of games and we could see the style of football they were trying to instill in the team, there was a vision for how they wanted the team to play. I haven't seen anything from RDM to suggest he's got his own vision for the team. I think he needs to go. I would honestly take Steve Bruce at this moment, he would do far better than RDM.
  3. Curtis Davies had a cracker of a game against United and Hull Captain as well, seems to have done fine for himself!
  4. Leicester just needs to get Albrighton on. No but seriously, they should push Schlup upfront and let Marc, Okazaki or someone play on the left. Schlup's pace is completely wasted out wide where Man U are squeezing the space quite well.
  5. I said in another thread I thought the arrival of MON and Lerner's open chequebook actually screwed all the potential we had in our academy. Letting Davis and Gardner go while getting in Sidwell and Reo-Coker who I would argue were only marginally better players than both and of course Zat Knight and Davies over Cahill was just stupid. We had a decent crop of players from our academy that we frankly wasted.
  6. I actually think we need to get back to the 'cheap' academy model that Doug was trying to make us sustainable on. On hindsight I think if Ellis had stayed and Lerner had not opened his chequebook initially we could have built a squad around the likes of Cahill, Ridgewell, Davis, Whittingham, Gardner, Albrighton etc. All our academy graduates who we sold for dirt cheap during the MON-Garde period have become decent Premier League-standard players. We need to trust in our academy and rebuild the Southampton way in the Championship, slowly bring up a solid batch of pros.
  7. Joining the likes of Barry, Milner and Young as Premier League Winners after leaving Villa. Jesus, what a midfield 4 that is.
  8. Only Richardson can miss a chance like that haha
  9. Why is no one suggesting Roberto Di Matteo? He's out of a job at the moment and he did well at Brom and during his run at Chelsea.
  10. Can close the gap to 7 points tonight. At this point in the season we need to close the distance to at least 3 points by March or we wont stay up.
  11. Thank Jimmy. God Liverpool are annoying tards aren't they.
  12. Hope whatever happened to our last Aussie midfield prospect doesn't happen to him too.
  13. He has no defensive instincts, his first thought is to try and win the ball as high up the pitch as possible, so he's always trying to look for the intercept and the counter. He forgets that he is a defender first and foremost. Either Richards agrees to adopt a more defensive mentality or I would drop him altogether.
  14. Klopp has been tactically stupid in this game but what you want to bet when they play us he's going to get it right ... this really is our year to go down.
  15. To be fair so far I've seen in the match he's taken up good positions off-the-ball playing on the shoulder of Colocconi, but out wide everyone ignores him by cutting in and he gets sucked back in towards them to provide a passing option but Ibe and Firminio the selfish bastards keep wanting to try to dribble past their men or shoot. I feel pissed for Benteke, he's just used as a long ball flick-on option and nothing else. If they wanted that they should have kept Rickie Lambert, what a waste of Benteke's strengths. Its frankly tactically naive to keep sticking to plan A when you're not getting any joy. Klopp needs to get his players to try something different. I'm just pissed off.
  16. Ahhh and Benteke's off, might as well if you're constantly going to ignore the option to cross into him. The lack of crossing in this Liverpool team is driving me crazy - its like they go out of the way not to cross the ball when their players are in an easier position to work the cross - they're struggling to score because they keep trying to play in front of the Newcastle wall of bodies. They have no plan B, I thought buying Benteke was to give them precisely that. Of **** finally Clyne crosses one in, doesn't even beat the defence, and what's the point their best finisher from crosses is off already. Idiotic. Newcastle can win this. Unbelievable.
  17. The Liverpool wide players - Ibe and Firmino keep cutting in from wide areas to get a shot or lay it off when they have a perfectly good opportunity to whip the ball in to Benteke against FRIGGING Coloccini and Dummet, whose he's had the beating of in the air all afternoon. It mean its all well and good cutting in but mix it up a bit and cross from wide areas sometimes damnnit Benteke has taken up plenty of good positions in and around the box only for the cross option to be ignored.
  18. I think because playing Okore would mean that Vlaar had be shifted over to his unnatural left side to accommodate him whereas Clark as a left-footed CB didn't cause that issue. Pairing him with Richards would cause the same problem.
  19. I thought Guzan was good, the goal I think was Sanzhez's fault for losing his man, don't think Guzan could have come out for that. But watching the game, I was screaming at Guzan to throw the ball out quickly for the counter 4 or 5 times in the first-half. It was so annoying when he got the ball in his hands from a failed Southampton attack, he would hold on to it for an eternity until all the players got into position I don't know whether it was a lack of confidence with his throws or what but in the second half, he did start a fantastic counter with a punt upfield for Ayew to run onto. It was just frustrating to watch him hold on to the ball for so long when a quick throwout could have done so much damage.
  20. Agreed, I noticed him more in our own half tracking Southampton players than making any forward runs but would have liked to see Traore have a run out in the last 10 minutes or so when Ayew was finding joy on the counter against tired Southampton players.
  21. My impression recently has been that Stanislas, King and Gosling have looked quite threatening going forward in their last 3 or 4 games, they've scored 6 goals against Swansea, Everton and Chelsea - that's a pretty good return. I just hope we start banging in more goals because the amount of chances we create every match is pretty limited and we rarely look like scoring.
  22. Looking at the table currently I think Norwich, Bournemouth and Swansea are in a pretty good spot to survive, they have proven that their teams can score goals when needed and their defence though suspect, is nowhere near as dodgy as our shambolic one. Only Sunderland and Newcastle I think have worse teams than us.
  23. To be fair so far in this match Okore hasn't been any worse than Richards has been this season.
  24. Jesus we needed to get to HT with the lead ... no idea how he managed to hang on to the clean sheet though.
