  1. To Martinez possibly turning us down? I actually wouldn't be too gutted with martinez Problem is, how shit will that make us look if Martinez turns us down to stay at Wigan?
  2. Football managers represent the clubs that employee them, what image are we trying to create if we appoint Mclaren? We would automatically open ourselves up to ridicule and that's why I wouldn't want Mclaren anywhere near our club, let alone manage it. PLEASE GOD NOT MCLAREN!
  3. Regardless of whether we agree about McClaren being a good manager or not, do you honestly think he stands a chance of getting this job? I don't, not at all. I think there's more chance of Karen Brady getting it - and that's nothing to do with my opinion on him as a manager. I honestly do. We need to take the clubs finances into account. Someone like rafa or ancelotti would need funds we haven't got and top 4 promises we couldn't keep. I think when people talk about bilic,Steve, coyle and Martinez they are along the right lines as to who we will get. Out of that lot Steve is the best one in my opinion. Well firstly I would argue that Randy has reached a crossroads with Villa in the fact that he has always ploughed a lot in - but not enough for Champions League. I think we will either scale right back now or have a big push, the latter I think being the more likely option. You say we haven't got the funds and can't keep top four promises but did anyone expect us to smash our transfer record with the signing of Darren Bent? I think that was a small illustration of what could be to come at Villa, maybe Randy has realised that with greater risk there is greater reward. After the Houllier debacle, where from the off he was on the back-foot with fans, I am 100% convinced that the next appointment - whether or not it is Ancelotti - will be designed to wow and unite the Villa fan base. Quite simply they won't want a re-run of the last 12 months and Steve McClaren, whether you like him or not, has been transformed into a bit of a joke figure (rightly or wrongly) and Lerner will know this. Lerner will also know the reaction to "Steve" on places such as this. I think we sometimes underestimate how powerful a forum like this can be - social media and the internet is a big part of modern life nowadays and to think people at the Club would not scan sites like these for a general consensus would be naive. They will know how unpopular McClaren is and in my opinion that makes him about as likely to sign for Villa as Birmingham City are to ever winning another trophy. Nil. I just think we are heading into a more conservative phase. The Darren bent transfer was paid for with the Milner money. I see what your saying about fan opinion but I would also hope the powers that be do not make decisions based on what's being said on the Internet. When they sit down and look at his management career to date I think out of the options that remain he will be a strong candidate. And if they think he is good enough to do the job then they will predict fan opinion to change. It's not that simple. Fans vote with their feet, if you appoint an unpopular manager then attendances will full and the club will lose revenue from ticket sales and season ticket renewals. Mclaren is unpopular despite your best efforts, appointing him now would only serve to alienate fans further. Which I'm sure the club doesn't want.
  4. He's an awful manager, good coach I'd admit, but he just can't handle the hot seat. Sorry!
  5. Er NO! What planet are you from? Seriously are you Mclaren's agent?
  6. Didn't do very well at Boro in the league imo. Yes he won a league cup and did well in Europe one year but they still often finished in bottom half of league under him despite being backed quite a lot back then which think ppl forget . They could at times be **** awful - rmber a fan ripping his season ticket up at him? He left Boro with quite a lot of junk. His Boro record is mixed at best imo. Didn't do well at Wolfsburg and was sacked . Add him doing to awful with England - not qualfying from that group was very poor. No matter how bad England can be. He might do a decent job back in Prem with someone - just hope its not here tbh - he would have fans on his back from the off and thats really not needed at moment. His reputation in this country is in taters, he's seen as a figure of ridicule and I honestly can't see him returning to top flight management in this country for a long time.
  7. Its got to the point, where I don't care who we get so long as its not Mclaren. where's all the ITK stuff we had last year?
  8. I have to say I agree with you there, maybe CA was trying to take the spotlight of him so he could finalise a deal with Villa, I mean there was a lot of speculation over the weekend and the DM seemed certain he was coming, there was also the planned meet at Villa Park to try and entice the board to get him. Now he says this on the day this is supposed to happen is a little wierd, I think he was covering his tracks until RL is in the country and they can negotiate properly, I think they are stuck in talks and each holding out for a better deal! Probably totally wrong but thats my take on things! Although I still want to believe, realistically I don't think Ancelotti's coming. I seem to remember someone posted something on twitter(?) that Villa had spoken to Carlo and gave him 48hrs to decide whether he wanted the job or not. Then Monday arrives and he's decided to take a year sabbatical, and so we have our answer. It's just to much of a coincidence.
  9. I voted Hughes this time, because Ancelotti's ruled out and I really don't think Moyes will leave Everton.
  10. Am i one of the few on here that would be quite gutted if Hughes has been ruled out? With all the crazy names being banded about me; no not at all. I'd take Hughes now to be quite honest. Yes, the way he left Fulham was a little bit below the belt..But, I blame his agent, not him. The sooner he gets rid of him the better. The guy is a liability. I don't think it was below the belt, it was 'crunch time' and he HAD to make a decision. He chose not to extend his contract, and so he left. Fulham were 100% aware that Hughes's departure was a possibility from day one. For the record, now that Ancelotti has ruled himself out, I'd be happy if we got Hughes.
  11. If it is Ancelotti, then why wait to announce it? It just doesn't make sense to me. The longer this goes on, the more likely its going to be Hughes IMO.
  12. So do I mate, but I think we have to face facts. It's Bullshit!
  13. Apart from his tenure at Twente, he's been an average manager at best and he was truly awful at Wolfsburg. Compare his record against someone like Rafa, and Mclaren is far from the perfect candidate. I think Villa can do better than 'Steve'
  14. Randy should just make Ash' Villa manager and kill two birds with one stone!
  15. Shit! Hang on, didn't the Mail also report that Ancelotti was nailed on for VP. I hope this turns out to be bollocks to.(except Moyes & Jol)
  16. I respect your opinion, but i disagree. It has to be steve for me. What is wrong with you? Mclaren? Really? Good coach mate. Title winner, fashionable and he has great hair. Seriously,if we can`t get ancelotti i think he is the next best option. Really, you honestly think Mclaren is the next BEST candidate for Aston Villa manager? Are you mental or just a WUM?
  17. I want one of either Moyes, Hughes or Jol now. The Spanish waiter and the wally with the brolly can go F@*k themselves.
  18. I'm just so depressed at the thought of Mclaren coming, I'd take anyone other than him. Maybe that's what the board want?
  19. Mclaren's worse than Hitec mate, he's pure Gola! no, gola and to some extent dunlop green flash have come back into fashion with the 'retro' look. hitec were, are and alsways will be ... shit Well a lot has change since I was at school, still Mclaren's no Adidas!
