  1. Might as well make a poll to ask whether people would like a smack in the face with a brick. Ironically I'd rather get smacked in the face with a brick, than have McLeish as our manager.
  2. This 'McLeish-gate' business has become so detrimental to the reputation of our club, why bother?
  3. Come on Randy there's still time, DONT APPOINT MCLEISH. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I hope for McLeish's sake he isn't offered the Villa job, unpopular, unwanted, he's already on a highway to nothing here. If he is offered the job then I hope HE has the sense to turn it down!

  6. I can feel my anxiety growing by the second!
  7. Moyes to us, Davies to Everton, Mcleish to go f@*k himself?
  8. From Ancelotti to Ambivalence in just one week. The joys of being a Villan.
  9. This is staring to get ridiculous now.
  10. That article is bollocks. It even says that Mclaren snubbed us FFS!
  11. I wouldn't mind Raneiri actually. He certainly has Premier League and European experience. He was treated very poorly by Chelsea in my opinion.
  12. Yep. Holy ****, there is only nearly 3 months of the window left! What's even more amusing is that more people will have this point of view on Sunday than yesterday, even though there has been no business days in that time frame. Just goes to prove that people use the transfer window excuse just because they are getting impatient and want some action. True, however this isn't championship manager, you cant just click a few buttons and make a few signings. Any manager coming in is going to have assess the current squad, identify the areas that need strengthening, draw up suitable transfer targets based squad analysis and potential transfer viability. Then after all that, begin the long and often painfully draw out transfer negotiations process. So yes I'm slightly concerned. It's been nearly 16 years since I last played Championship Manager! Current managers aren't going to be able to assess the squad until they return to pre-season, which isn't until July. Transfers, you can start earlier, but even this can wait until end of June. How many transfers are usually done before the end of July? Not many. I really don't think there is too much to worry about right now. I'd even be ok with this going on for another couple of weeks as it is far more important that we get the right person in tomorrow, rather than the wrong person today. I agree about getting the right person. However where current managers do have an advantage, is they have the luxury of compiling their squad analysis based on squad/individual performances in the previous campaign. Our new manager wont have that option.

  14. This is becoming detrimental to the club so whoever it is, we better make that appointment quickly, otherwise we can kiss goodbye to the transfer window!
  15. I wanted Martinez mate. Got quite excited about him actually. A poor mans Mourinho Right now, theres nobody that excites me! you would prefer martinez over moyes? that makes no sense to me at all Well, personality for a start! When we were linked with Martinez everyone was saying why? he hasnt won anything?? Why arent we asking the same question with Moyes?? No they weren't, they were asking what has he achieved. two 16th place finishes isn't exactly a record that would make people say 'he can take us forward' ...people weren't saying what's he won at all. If he had finished 12th and 9th with Wigan, I bet helluva lot more fans would have loved Martinez. ok, my bad - if thats what they were saying. But again same question applies? In the time Martinez has been managing (3 years) hes achieved a promotion with Swansea and no doubt achieved his season goals at Wigan, whilst reducing the wage bill quite considerably. On the other hand, Moyes nearly got to the champions league, an Fa cup final - 2 other very good finishes. 2 quite atrocious finishes for Everton and then the rest where they probably should be. Im unaware of his time at Preston tbh. No one seems to acknowledge that whilst Martinez hasnt really achieved greatness, hes only been at it 3 years!! Everton before David Moyes: 15th, 17th, 14th 13th, 16th, 15th. Since Moyes: 7th, 17th, 4th, 11th, 6th, 5th, 5th, 8th, 7th ....so to say ...11th is atrocious ....and 5th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th ...where they should be is also IMO very wrong. Wigan before Martinez ....10th, 17th, 14th, 11th .... since Martinez, 16th, 16th. So while I think he's a talented manager for the future ....you're being extremely one sided in your view Martinez has done some sort of good job while David Moyes has done nothing. bloody hell, your one sad individual :winkold: Right, Im not for one second suggesting Martinez has done an exceptional job! on the other hand, Im not for one second suggesting Moyes hasnt done a good job! I am basically saying, DO David Moyes' achievements (when you consider length of time hes been manager, size of club (foundations etc), quality of players (something he has to be given credit for)), outweigh the achievements Martinez has had (again when you consider time, clubs hes been at etc) so so much, that it would be unthinkable to question them (Moyes achievements), baring in mind we questioned Martinez's. The key to this is consistency and Moyes consistently delivers with limited resources. He may be seen as a 'safe' choice, however given recent events, I'd say he's the only logical choice.
  16. And what's the betting that news from WAFC is Martinez has signed a new contract. Not that he has turned down Villa as I don't reckon he has been offered the job He must have been offered the job. Otherwise why all the media hype? If he hasn't been offered the job, then I'm sure the club would have already released a statement to that effect. there was loads of media hype around hughes, then benitez, then mclaren. according to the media they were all nailed on for the job. we haven't released any statements about anybody who hasn't got the job, why would we? I don't know, it just feels like the club think Martinez is the man. The big issue I have now is, how bad would it make the club look IF Martinez did turn us down?

  18. I still need to be convinced on Martinez.
  19. Yeah, I'd laugh if Ancelotti gets revealed on Friday and Randy had just decided to **** with our heads for a while, just so we end up appreciating him even more. I would cum with the force of a thousand suns if that happened. I just wanna wake up tomorrow and see a picture of Ancelotti holding a Villa shirt (preferably the new one with new sponsor). It's not like Ancelotti is the only manager I'd settle for though. Ranieri, Rijkaard and Van Gaal all interest me and I'd be satisfied with Hughes. I also would have been happy with Benitez. Moyes is another one I'd be very happy with. Oh yeah, and check this out I'm warming to the prospect of Ranieri actually. He did well at Chelsea before he was unceromoniously sacked. (now doesn't that sound familiar).
  20. Yeah, I'd laugh if Ancelotti gets revealed on Friday and Randy had just decided to **** with our heads for a while, just so we end up appreciating him even more.
  21. What does that actually mean? I like mayonnaise.
  22. Actually wasn't Claudio Ranieri mentioned in the Martinez article in the telegraph. I wouldn't mind Ranieri.
  23. I really wanted a manager of true pedigree, but that's dead now. I reckon we should just bite the bullet and get Hughes on July 1st!
  24. It'll be like a home from home, our defence was almost as shit as theirs last season, so Martinez should fit right in.
