I think people forget how competitive most of the Premier League is. Wolves beat Man City last week, they're not a bad team. Add in to the mix it being a local derby, then I think a point isn't too bad.

It’s not a bad point it was a very competitive derby type game. , I’m a little frustrated we didn’t win because we had some great chances in first half then again at the end, clear as daylight pen as well.

Annoying that we were very mediocre for first 30 mins of second half but few of them looked a bit leggy.

I support Villa 100%, and I always feel we will lose. I'm a born pessimist, and no amount of Emery euphoria will ever change it.

I know what you mean, in life I’m a very optimistic person but when it comes to Villa it’s the only rational response to a lifetime of (mostly) disappointment. For that reason it’s difficult to believe this can continue.

But I am enjoying consistently being proven wrong by Unai.

Most of the signings I would make in Jan would be potential.

Signing the new Douglas Luiz is important. Someone with potential to control a game. 18-22 year old ideally. When Luiz isn't playing we lack that. Doesn't have to be the finished article yet and doesn't mind being a squad player.

Upgrade on Dendonker but I think Tim Iroegbunam could be that. So maybe wait on that.

Younger talented RB also important. Someone with big potential in a few years to be better than Cash. We can ease him in for now. Spain seem to have a load of this players.

Tielemans is the backup to Luiz, people might not be bought into him yet (and I definitely get that after Everton) but thats the role he's been brought in to do.

I dont think that is a role we will be looking at filling, though I get your point that the team drops several levels without Luiz in it.

Hopefully Tielemans can get up to speed in time.

Didnt think he was all bad last night, few sloppy moments but plenty of good mixed in with the bad at least.

Well last night proved their will be no easy games in this competition and that's doubly so, when we start with a team that is way below full strength. We need to go strong from the start in future games, because leaving changes until half time only gives us the second half to turn things around and we have now shown twice that might not always be enough time. Better to bring players off, when we are already say 2-0 up, in my opinion.

Without Emi we would have been 2-0 down before our captain's late winner. We were a different team in the second half, but didn't they defend well? Their supporters will rightly feel proud of their team's performance  last night, they defended like their lives depended on it and there were shades of England v Poland in 1973 about the second half. We bombarded their goal, but couldn't find a way through more than once and Mostar also had a keeper, who we had been told was a clown, but who performed like Lev Yashin on the night.

Its a fair point but on the other hand Unai is probably thinking I've only got 45mins of Watkins, Luiz and Cash do I want that used in first half or against a tiring team in second half.

    You can see the thinking.

The back up players are frustrating at the moment but I think the biggest issue is most of them havent played together much. Hoping they will get better in time because fact is we need them. All well and good saying lets play first team but we cant do that every single game.

  5. He wasn’t terrific but he wasn’t awful. Also we had this plan where we would play the ball long aimed at Nico he would pin his man and let it go over his head where it went straight to Ollie. This worked about 85 times today, totally mad plan but an Unai masterpiece.

Problem is I don’t think we’re taking them unseriously. I think he is going for it but he’s trying to balance the league and utilise some players who I think he thinks are sufficiently good enough to do the job and so far it isn’t working.

Agree with this I think with the injuries and new players we are still a work in progress with the first team. There are positive signs but also plenty of areas that need improvement. You make a few changes to that team and the weaknesses just start adding up.

  7. Good - those shirts are absolutely ridiculous. Find it hard to believe they are wet look as though that’s how they are supposed to look. You’d have to be a grade A moron to set out to design a shirt to be worn by elite athletes that instantly become drenched in sweat.

    Outstanding AGAIN.

Crucial saves AGAIN. Match+point winning saves.

Just absolutely unreal to have a keeper that saves this many clear chances.

Had to double check which game this was in reference to which says it all really.

He’s so good so consistently it’s very easy to take it for granted but we should savour every game this man plays for us.

Not for me. If he played more consistently it would just mean we'd see the poor performances much more frequently.

I actually rated him at Southampton, thought he was going to be a good player. But was poor for Arsenal and is poor for us.

Yes -  I dont think he should play more consistently for us!

  10. I think main problem with Chambers is he needs to be playing consistently.

When he does that he can be a relatively solid pair of hands. Not great by any means but as other have said he is a lower PL/upper Championship standard player. Not a trainwreck like Olsen.

However when he comes in for the odd game once every few months he does look awful and seems to make mistake after mistake. Later in game he looked like someone who's confidence had fully gone and he wanted to be taken off.

He doesnt suit being a backup at all in my view. If I was him I'd be doing everything I could to make a move elsewhere work for all parties.

My 3rd ever win. I'm coming for you bug hitters!

Was great news and the Drs/Consultants/Nurses etc were all great and really supportive. Just a shame it took so long (I think it was a week for Dr's appointment, then 3 weeks for Consultant appointment, then another 3 weeks for the biopsy then 9 weeks for the results). All kicked off back in the middle of May.

Great news and I know the wait is agonising but good rule of thumb is if its bad news you tend to find out very quickly.
