The most annoying thing about Zaniolo is not his fault. Its the weird obsession fans have that the first goal will open the floodgates

He is not a goalscorer, his record is not a goalscorers record

I think that’s fair but he’s been so close so often I don’t think it’s mental for the fans to be thinking that way. He’s getting in the right places surely one’s got to drop for him soon. Might not be floodgates but seems reasonable to think he might be able to regularly chip in the way that Bailey, Diaby, Luiz, McGinn are doing now.

Probably the most exciting thing about Villa right now is we are doing really well in an attacking sense but still leaving lots of goals out there.

I wonder if Steve will busy himself picking fights with people who criticise his boy online now.

Really hoping he’ll be too busy working on his next book.

These not gone on sale to members at 5pm today then, I'm in an hour queue on app

Nope - next Monday according to the Villa calendar.

  4. There is definitely something there. He could have easily scored about 10 goals for us so far. REALLY needs to get that first one though!

He has got ability of that I'm sure - give him 6/12 months with Unai and he'll look like a world beater.

First full week done. Feeling pretty good about it but I need advice on warm downs for arms.  My left arm is achy as hell and I last went to the gym Friday.

I wouldn’t worry about warm downs but need to manage your load at the beginning. Any time you work muscles that aren’t used to being used it will ache for a few days. Start slowly (in terms of load)  and build slowly would be best advice.

England are now bottom of the group as Dutch won again

I can't be the only person bored by this World Cup format. Is still about 20 odd group games left. They cannot be attracting many casual fans with such a boring format

I love cricket but I haven’t watched a single game.

  7. To be honest assuming we have retained the control that Unai alluded to it seems like this transfer has worked out really perfectly for us.

In pre season he looked excellent in flashes and a bit on the periphery at times which is exactly what you’d expect. To have him in a team aiming for CL places would have been a risk. For us and also for him with the development game time he’d be losing (see Duran).

He’s doing really well in Championship and it looks like if we did bring him back we’d be getting a very different player.

    Win - win.

They’ve agreed a £60m shirt sponsor for next season and a £90m a year kit manufacturer.  Just those 2 things are almost as much as Villa’s entire revenue including TV money.

Yeah that’s crazy and shows what we are competing with that said every team only gets to field 11 players and the way a club in run is so important to getting the team right on the pitch. For example they are paying Sancho 15.5m a year right now and have completely outcasted him. As much as other clubs will want him they won’t be paying anywhere near that.

A darn sight more reassuring than Bednarek.

Yeah this was main thought too, I’m sure he’s getting paid plenty more but he’s a very big upgrade and looks a very good deputy for Torres.

Having done a couple of fitness classes a week for about 6 months, I've just signed up for a twice a week gym session.  One day upper body with cardio, then the second session is legs and cardio.  Looking to burn a bit of fat and build a bit of muscle because I'm only a slight build.

My job involves sitting at a desk for 40 hours a week, and this combined with the fitness classes is my attempt at building my physical and mental health, starting at the grand old age of 48.  Anyone else a late starter? What are your experiences of this journey.

Movement is medicine so absolutley it will help to build physical and mental health. Progression is all about consistency.

We all have different opinions but Buendia goes straight in for me even with everyone fit.

Buendia just offers way too much flair. You cannot not play him

I’d be surprised. He didn’t start all the time at the end of last season in the great run for Europe and obviously not in this run this season either. So we can not play him and still do pretty well.

If everyone is fit you dropping McGinn, Ramsey or Diaby to get him in the side?

    And again! Like London buses.

I've also beaten Isabelle - which also took me ages. Can't get anywhere near Li though she is like a fortress.

I've started just beating Emir everyday to build my confidence as I lose so many games consecutively against my limit opponents it starts to knock your confidence.

Also set a time limit in the evenings as I started seeing chess constantly when I was trying to sleep.

  13. His game intelligence is fantastic - really shows that he has played plenty of high level European football. Not the tricky winger I was expecting but been a pleasant surprise for all of us really. Feels like he's been involved in so many more goals than his current goals/assists tally suggests. Think he's been the assist to the assister plenty.

IDF put out a statement early hours of this morning that the ground operation into Gaza will be aborted, if Hamas releases all hostages and surrenders to the Israeli authorities.

It is acknowledged on here that Hamas is a terrorist group, and that the best outcome would see all Palestinian civilians in Gaza spared and protected from the inevitable harm of a war on the ground. That outcome is in Hamas’ power to deliver.

If Hamas refuses to release its hostages and refuses to surrender to Israel, then it is inviting the IDF to attack - as Hamas continues to hide behind and amongst the civilian population.

The Israelis are offering Hamas (and by extension the Palestinian people they control) a way out of this war before it properly begins.

Sounds fair enough, be interesting to see if Hamas accepts this deal!

Bbc reporting that we have the third best home form across Europe's top 5 leagues. Who has won 12 or more straight home games then?

City have won 21 consecutive home games across all competitions. Would be impressive if they weren't massive cheats.

  16. I wish we had a song for him based on Easy by Lionel Ritchie. Think it would fit him so perfectly.

I wish it so much I’ve been calling him Easy Konsa in my head for some time now.

Luton was going to be my 9 year old daughters first game at Villa Park, we're both very excited given that Luton was my first game aged 10 in 1991.

Problem is, I can't get 2 tickets together meaning this at (gulp) £192 is my only option. I can sort of justify it given that it will be a special occasion of sorts but a hefty price!

    Whats she like at drinking?

ad nauseam, back through the centuries.

Pretty much nails it, add in some arguments about made up sky gods and who “owns” a piece of land and you’ve got a seemingly never ending recipe for horror. It’ll get worse, it’ll get better for a bit, I’ll get worse again etc etc Feels like a good few centuries to go on this yet. Still not that bright we humans.

  19. No doubt Jack is by far the better player. Saw a video of his Villa highlights the other day and brought back a lot of memories. He hasn’t been that player for several years now. I do wonder whether that just springs back if he moved to another club and was played with more freedom. My guess is probably not. Most players career trajectories go up and then down, can’t think of many rollercoasters although I’m sure it does happen.
