  1. Wouldn't take the likes of Terry, Ferdinand, Lampard, Barry. Have been around the England set up too long, don't have any further tournaments in them and have failed as the so called "golden generation".

I also wouldn't take DB, more chance of risking a further injury by rushing him back.

RH has nothing to lose in this tournament, due to his late appointment their are no real expectations..

Field the team with younger players who are going to be the basis of the squad for the next 10 years.... the likes of Jones, Oxlaide Chamberlain etc. There is still enough experience in the likes of Parker, Gerrard, Cashley, Rooney etc to help through.

Just a shame the likes of Wiltshire/Rodwell/Smalling are/have been injured this season.

    Starting Line up witout Wayne...

    Hart

    Richards, Jagielka, Lescott, Cole

    Parker, Milner

    Oxlaide Chamberlain, Gerrard, Young

    Sturridge

Then on the bench have the like of:

Walcott, Lennon, Downing, Jones, Walker, Cahill, Baines, Cleverley, Crouch, Green, Ruddy (missing Rooney from match day sqaud due to suspension first 2 games)

Think it is a fairly balanced squad and you could move players into different positions....ie gerrard to cm and young/sturridge/milner as attacking centre etc

  2. I've heard it from very close to the player that he is desperate for a move this summer, 3rd manager in a row that has told him he's not big enough for the PL.

3rd manager in a row????? Thought Houllier really liked him as player and said he had a bright future.....

He is going to be too small for Mcleish's "style" of football as he doesnt repeatly kick people in the air (see link to Karl Henry).

Like others have said at the start of the season (prior to driving accident) he looked very bright, unfortunately since then he has gone off the boil. Still think there is a good player there and would flourish under a different manager who enjoyed passing football.

  3. Thought last yr he would do a good job, but thought he would like to manage Brighton in championship as he got them there ( similar to lambert in prem). Now he has done that think he would be able to be persuaded to come. Think he may need an experienced assistant to help for a few yrs...maybe Wilkins as they worked together at Chelsea?

  4. How can he even be classed as a midfielder......he can't pass, shoot, head, run or tackle. His positioning is awful, hardly moves out the centre circle and isn't even a "hardman". He is just a thug. My wolves supporting mate can't stand him and would be absolutely delighted to see him move......this cannot happen

  5. Didn't Commoli sign Carroll and Henderson for Liverpool? Last thing we need is more waste of ££££..

Yeah that is the one. He was also at Spurs, on the back on Jol guiding them to two top 5 finishes Comolli was involved (and rumoured to take control of transfers) and spent something like 40m. Spurs subsequently sacked Jol and flirted with the relegation for the majority of the season.

Bottom line - Comolli would be as big a disaster as keeping McLeish.

Wasn't Commoli responsible for spurs signing bale, huddlestone, lennon, walker, naughton etc...

Whilst I agree that he spends money it is has been spent on some quality...would still require Mc to be sacked and a more tactical manager to take advantage of the players' ability

  6. First choices:

    Ole Gunnar Solks, Ray Wilkins

    Second choices:

    Lambert, Adkins

    Third choices:

    Rodgers, Poyet

Think Adkins and Rodgers like Lambert last season will want a crack in the prem with their respect teams. Don't think a "BIG" foreign name will really benefit the club with the way we are at present as there would be a lot of unneccessary media attention on us.

OGS would be ideal, was always a tactical player, won with utd reserves (ok maybe not the hardest task) has won with molde and seemingly set for the utd job in the future but would need experience first....

  7. Whilst I can see some benefits to relegation ie chance to rebuild etc (as mentioned in a thread I opened prior to this thread being opened). The thing that worries me the most is who we shall have in charge. I don't trust the board to bring in some young and inventive.

  8. The Gabby of 2007-2010 scored goals in derby games and important matches and linked up with team mates, the Gabby of now just seems to sulk.

wouldn't you sulk if you were been played out of position for most of the season and had to play under a manager like mcleish?

I'm sure there are times at work when 99.99% of us have to do things we don't like....you just get on with it, that's life...Being a footballer shouldn't have anyway leeway on this fact

i bet some of us have done a lot of sulking this season with some of the performances we've had to put up with, so were allowed and he is not? bearing in find hes also a fan.

you can't come on here in general complaining about mcleish for making us shit and then having a go at a player for sulking because of it when were all doing the same anyway.

I don't really understand your arguement. As a fan, yes Gabby is perfectly entitled to sit at home and sulk about the way villa are performing and our awful league position. However, he is employed as a footballer, therefore irrelevant whether he is a fan or not, he should do what his manager tells him to do to the best of his ability not sulk on the pitch that he isnt being played on his favourite position. If my manager asks me to do something (within my terms of employment) I have to do it, otherwise i'd face disciplinary action. I'd be very surprised if Gabby's contract states he has to a play as astriker and therefore he is unlikely being asked to work outside his terms of employment.

Adversly as a fan of Villa, wouldn't you, given the opportunity "bust your gut" to play for villa week after week? Look at Ian Taylor when he was here, never the most technichal player but would run through brick walls for the Villa cause. Gabby doesn't seem to be doing that.

  10. I would bite their hand off for an offer of £12million. Gabby has some good games (see the start of the season for example) but his abilities are very limited. Going back to MON, I could see him piling on the bulk again, too his disadvantage as it slows him down.

Whether gabby is injured or not his attitude in the recent games has been nothing short of appalling...If i'm at work and dont like the manager or the things they are saying I still have to get on with it, not sulk because im being asked to do something different to what i want. People say he is unhappy playing out wide, yet he has played up front recently and has done nothing to indicate he should remain there..

His performance on saturday could go 2 ways:

    a) Be none existent, he may want to go and join MON next season (I have no idea whether he does or not) and feel that if he scores the winner past them that may jepordise his move.

    B) Be unplayable, trying to show MON what he is missing out on and make it certain MON will sign him...

My feeling would be more a, as I dont think he has the brains to think about b

  11. team.

As some of you may know the premierleague is in it's 20th year and as such voting is being organised to arrange best teams/players/goals etc...

As expected our club doesn't get a mention in most of the voting options as these are predominately led by teams who have won stuff (bar the odd few, mainly media darlings)...however, GOD is placed within the options for a defender within the team of 20 yrs...I dont expect him to be placed because outside of our club he very rarely gets mentioned as one of the greats...Would be good if we all voted for though to get him in...

(takes the mind off mc and relegation for a few minutes anyway)

  12. Said to my mate on the coach down to arsenal, that POS had to be Petrov. He looked at me blankly and said why....."I know he hasnt been great, bar the odd game, but name anyone who has consistently performed at a higher level"...there was silence for a couple of mins....then he just nodded...says it all really.

  13. Spurs is the last game of the season. Why don't all season ticket holders throw their cards onto the pitch? The season is over so no need to keep them anyway. But, it has never been done before so maybe it would send some kind of message?

If people have renewed for next yr they are keeping the same card so probably not the best idea...... plus how would the people in the upper holte got their card to the pitch?
