  1. There is a soccer bus running from to sandhill train station to the ground. You can get to sandhill from liverpool central station (2 min walk from lime st, also not far from concert square if drinking beforehand/after). Went to a few games when at uni (few yrs ago) as a neutral fan and never saw any trouble with home and away fans both on there.

  2. Just seen on the OS that this is a cup scheme game and we were charged for it on the 5 July, which I'm guessing is a mistake. Has any cup scheme members been charged or received the ticket? Or is this the free ticket that was mentioned when purchasing season tickets?

  3. For all the talk of a big name manager, I'm not sure that that would be the best for the club. Obviously the manager will need to work on a tight budget and therefore it would be best to have someone used to working like.

I think Martinez could be good shout and he also gets his teams playing attractive football. I also think that Nigel Clough would be a good shout.

Whoever it is we all love the Villa and will just have to support the boards decision and hope it is best for the club.

  4. Ok so it seems the Oyster bar.

So how do we get there from Picadilly station? How long is the walk? How long from there to the ground as I dont get to Manc til 12 ish.

Signposted all the way apparently (25/30 min walk) and yeah I'm also heading for the Oyster Bar...

I will be landing at Piccadilly for 1 ish.

I hear ground is signposted, but what about Oyster bar? How do we get there?

  5. Just saw John Terry's post match comments.

"We have watched there games recently and the tire after 60 minutes, so we knew we just had to keep the intensity up"

See the opposition can see it but our own manager cant.

  6. Wouldnt get rid yet...but IF (and its a big if) he went, none of the above mentioned.

Maybe Martin Jol as already mentioned.

However, with the Majority of players British, I think a British(or Irish) would be best. Darrern Ferguson maybe.

  7. Watched online but got cut off before 3rd and 4th goals.

Friedel - 6 - Couldnt really do much

Defence - individually everyone on a 6. As a unit....2 what the hell has happened recently?

Midfield - Not enough possession 2nd half and were completely overshadowed.

Sidwell - 7 (motm) - First half was quality tackled everyone, composed passing and looked to join the attack. Second half, didnt know what to do with change of formation.

    Petrov. 5 - Anonymous

Milner - 6 - Kicked out of the game early on. Never really showed his ability.

A Young - 6 -Started brightly, but faded and didnt get enough of the ball

Gabby - 5 - First half caused some problems with pace, didnt get into the game though.

Carew. -5 - Took goal well again but sweet fa for the rest of time he was on. Didnt hold the ball up.

    Subs

Delboy - 7 - Played well and looked lively, didnt get the ball enough.

Downing - 4 - Was he on the pitch

    Beye 4 - See downing

At upto 3 - 1 hadnt played badly, but once Chelsea got the fourth, heads dropped and that the end of it. Chelsea's quality told.

  8. I havent heard some songs this year...

Tracey Andrews...ok its a bit harsh but still funny..

Birmingham are you listening (tune of walking in winter wonderland)

and mainly...Tony Daley like a torpedo.

As such I have tried to bring this song into the modern game.....

Braaaad Friedel, rolls the ball to Petrov.

Petrov back to Richard Dunne and out to Ashley Young.

Ashley Young down the wing like a torpedo

Puts the ball in the aiiirrrrrrrrrrr...

    To Nathen Delfounso.

    Thoughts please?

Reckon we can get it going?

Don't know if you mean just home games mate but we always sing Birmingham are you listening at aways and I'm sure at least once a game at home.

On the other hand, "NIIIIIGEL SPINKS" definately needs to get sung more! We try to get it going but hardly anyone ever joins in, loudest I've ever heard it is in Silverspoons in the upper room before the game and in the lower room after. Its a great song though all my non-Villa mates love it, we need to sing it more!

Unfortunately, I havent managed many away this year, so couldnt really comment. However, been to every home and very rarely hear the Birm are you listening..I just remember a few years back that it was sung a good 10 times a match. In fact when I was growing up it was probably the first song I remember...but hey..

What you reckon of the new version?

  10. It makes me laugh people say bent...yes he scores some goals but he also missed a gilt edged header last night..

Anyway Bent would cost around £20 mil, is he worth that? It would be just like the Luke Young signing, ending up paying more one season later than we could (probably should've) the season before... we will then play him out of position all season, where he will play very well.. He will then establish himself in his rightful position, miss a couple of games through injury/personal problems and then find that he cant get back in the side because a centre back is playing there..

  11. Same old...

Carew took his goal well, but at times still didnt look at the races...couple of good runs..

    Warnock overlapped very well

Cuellar, I still dont understand it..distribution awful.. terrible (hospital) pass to milner caused his injury.

    Petrov looked dead a buried.

Ash Young coming back to old form, terrific delivery for goal and put a few other great balls in.

Downing 1 great that put young away down the left...ran at his defender once..and gues what beat him... do it more often..

Dunne looked shaky, worse game for us.

Del boy looked bright at times, but not given the ball enough, had to go chasing everything..

    Everyone else..meh..so/so

  12. Well bloddy hell what a game, we know how to make it hard on ourselves. I knew that we would play long ball up to the big lads upfront, which doesnt work for them as both players prefer ball to feet.

First half everyone gets a 4, one of the worst performances I have ever seen. Even with the "offside" goal we were still awful.

MON mustve gone absolutely ballistic at half time.

Second half started playing the ball to feet more and sucking in the defenders so that we could unleash the winger into more space.

    Ratings for second half only:

Friedel - 6 - Flapped a couple of times but made a decent save

Warnock - 7- A lot better, timed tackles better, showed more composure on the ball and supported the wingers well. Also put in a brilliant block.

Cueller - 5 - Still not a right back, gets sucked out of position far too easily - what has Luke Young done wrong?

Dunne - 7.5 - Recovered well, Led the line and marshalled the others around him.

Collins - 6 - Not his best game but at least got stronger as it went on.

Petrov - 6.5 - More involved in the game, steadied the ship

Milner - 7 - Craved the ball and started to impose himself on the game, some good touches and passing. Tireless.

Young - 8.5 - Got the ball rolling with a very composed finish, exposed the fullbacks and to top it all a great header off the line.

Downing - 7.5 - His delivery was great, puts the ball in the right place for the strikers to attack. Still needs to beat his on the outside with his pace more.

Heskey - 7.5 - Dont understand the people giving him a low mark. Held the ball well, turned his defenders and was a real handful. Unlucky not to score as it was a good save from the keeper.

Carew - 8.5 - MOTM - Just shaved Young. - Caused the defence all sorts of trouble, took his goals well, may even have had a 4th. Why cant be like this more often?

  13. So what was everyones seat like?

The view was good (in block P) but was a little disappointed to be very back row considering I had not paid the cheapest amount (£54).

Did speak to Tony Daley at half time, great bloke with a good out look for the Villa, summed up the game well. Wish him all the best at Wolves.

  14. My mate Man Utd supporting mate reckons:

    Kusczack

    Rafael/Neville

    Brown

    Vidic

    Fabio

    Valencia

    Gibson

    Anderson

    Park

    Owen

    Berbatov

Rooney has to have a rest sometime whether he wants to or not. The only reason they had such a strong team in the semis was because it was City.

Obviously im not a utd fan so dont know what the regular team is but I think Utd will play 451

    Van der sar

    Rafeal

    Brown

    Vidic

    Evra

    Valencia

    Carrick

    Scholes

    Fletcher

    Park

    Rooney

The full backs are quick to combat our wingers and then midfield to over play us.

Gonna to be a tight game, cant wait now...UTV
