  1. Is that Ireland I have just seen who has just cleared off the line and made a great tackle working hard...?!!!
  2. It's dead. But a very complex dead. There is very little going on, and what is hapening is skewing the industry. With very little work many people have elected to leave or been forced out of the industry. this means the pool of talent has contracted to reflect the lack of money making opportunities. This is then made more complicated by the occassional 'big job' such as an Olympics contract, where, the few people in any one specialism that are still in circulation all get sucked into one big job. We are in a situation at present where all the big construction firms have laid off their own labour and workforce and now rely on subbies and agencies for everything. Problem with that, is that when a big contract comes along, they just don't honestly have the resource they claim to have access to. I've seen a number of instances lately where national contractors have won multi million pound jobs and then cannot perform or deliver on time. They've made a promise reliant on subbies, those remaining subbies, all shafted by the big boys for the last 4 years now just work for the highest bidder on any given day. This is particularly clear in government contracts. They won't deal with smaller firms, they demand the lowest price will win regardless of people knowing it can't be delivered at some of the stupid prices offered. Then, big surprise, the winner can't deliver on time. Solution? Well we can go legal, or throw more money at it and pay more than the other tenderers originally wanted. Result? Every contract costs more than forecast. Every project over runs. Every bricky, plasterer and sparky knows that if he's still in the game at the end of this year, he should be making a good living. nice post. So what are a lot of laborers unemployed at the moment?
  3. Talk to me fellow villans I have missed the first half. whos been the better team..? Best players...?!
  4. They say that the first industries to be hit are the retail sector and the building sector. We have needed some work done on our house and every BUILDER who has given us a quote has said they have stack of work on...! Surely this is a good thing and sign. Does anyone here work in the building trade whats there opinions...?
  5. We can win this one for sure. The pressure is on Wenger at the moment without doubt. The glory fans of the gunners are starting to turn, the longer we can hold them for the more the crowd will trun against them. We still need to do our bit. Team selection: AM can not afforf to F--K ugain, that means no Hutton at right back presuming CC is fit. Warnock needs to be played at left back and stick with him. Pack the midfield out with 5 of them. Bent up front. Does any one know if RVP will be playing and what there likely lineup will be...?
  6. Nice bit of spin there Tony :-) link As the article shows Gideon's plans are far more hitting in raising the retirement age and bringing forward the timescales. After saying that, we have seen time after time with this Gvmt that what they say and what they mean and do are unlikely to be the same. It seems that Tory lies are now a daily event Don't make me use Let me google that for you :-) The Turner reforms on Pension were Labour indeed it was the very same reforms that prompted Brown to blackmail Blair over cash for honours... Blair went ahead and surprise surprise Blair got a visit from the rozzers Get your facts stright sunbeam. Its New Labour!
  7. There is money to spend. Just not as much as one would hope. For years and years Britain has suffered from poor transport infastructure. As you will know the Labour party carried out much of the Beeching cuts, whilst refusing to invest properly in things like intercity transport (despite saying they wouldn’t cut the lines). Successive governments have continued this strange policy, ultimately leading to the curious situation of private companies getting more support than BR ever did. Britain needs too look seriously at its rail network. You could spend money on HS2 or you could electrify more lines, improve lines. One thing is for sure you need to spend that money on the transport system. You can say that only 5% will use it, but you could say that about a huge range of things. As I ve pointed out, how much will motorway building cost in the next thirty years? How much have we spent over the last 50 years on motorways, and how much on railways? How much have we spent on computer systems that don’t work? On planes like Concorde or TSR2? Any government will be forced to make decisions; in this case is infrastructure worth investing in, or should we spend it on something else? France, and Germany have massively invested in modern rail systems. We need to do the same. I have always campaigned for better public transport in the UK - its a no brainier. The UK has one of the poorest rail networks in Europe and thats saying something. The system went massively downhill in the 80s thanks to Thatcher and her privatision. I used the trains in the summer in Italy and France they it cost me 15 quid to travel about 300 miles in a spacious seat in no time at all and with no delays. I took a train journey a few months ago in the UK which was only about 7 miles it cost me £5 - cheers and was delayed..! Its pretty unlikely that you will get a superb railway network system in the UK with a Torie government. My point is this. Do you know how much extra investment in Schools, Hospitals, Police, Fire has been reduced and how many people have suffered as a direct consequence of this. The line has been - there is no money left. This is about priorities not about luxuries. If you think that building a railway is more important than saving lives, education and welfare then thats your call.In due course sure its a great idea but not at the moment.
  8. thats exactly what they did when the previous government came along and changed them all so which political agenda are we playing to in this instance ? The Tories don't believe in the public sector they never have done and probably never will, There fore its not in their interests to look after the people working in the public sector. Hence more having to work longer for less - thats the agenda. it was labour that proposed / introduced the increase in retirement age was it not .. who sorry...?
  9. thats exactly what they did when the previous government came along and changed them all so which political agenda are we playing to in this instance ? The last Gov't negotiated and agreed a change with the people affected. Not sure that this Gov't has done that. There was a public sector strike over pensions under the last government, let's not forget. At a time when finances weren't quite so stretched. and your point...?!

  11. To be honest which ever party gets in, will have to deal with this. How can we pay for pensions if we live longer and are pensionable for a longer time? Who is going to pay for it? You just dont get it do you - These people entered into a contract you cant just come along and change it because it suits your political agenda. If there is 32 billion to spend on a railway network there is money to sort this out. What don’t I get? I am talking about the whole population, of private and public pensions. Its unsustainable if we kept to previous promises. We can bury our head in the sand and say lets stay as it is, but frankly then we are causing further promises along the line to future generations. It doesn’t matter which party you belong to; these issues are going to have to be dealt with the Tories, Labour, SNP, Lib Dems And I am not sure what the railway has to do with it. You could say that about anything; how much are we paying on building aircraft carriers? or what would replace Trident? or on road construction? on Crossrail? We can’t just spend money on pensions... Theres no money to spend remember...? there is this hudge deficit we have to pay back. But its OK to spend 32 billion on a railway that 95% of the population wont ever use..! Issue here is nothing to with the affordability of public sector pensions since their cost is projected to fall as a share of GDP in coming years. The government are performing the usual divide and rule tactic: their *logic* seems to be that since private sector pensions are sh*te then they should decimate public sector pensions.
  12. Agreed on all points. Glad I got to go to one though, it helps me pay for those who can't be arsed to work. How are the millionaires, bankers and the very riches in society paying for this as I dont see them suffering. Scameron was in Italy in the summer scoffing the finest truffles and champagne while georgie porgie was in one of his 4 holiday homes in LA. Tough life for them though. After all were all in it together. oh yes you mean the people who are claiming 60 pounds per week on job seekers allowance - living the life of riley...! Dont worry about the billionaires who get away with out paying million and billions of tax. Do a quick calculation 100 000 000 / 60 The question should be who gets away with more...?! Scameron and his pals or the poorest in society. hmmm..? The economy is being made worse by this government due to their ideological political agendas. LiKE I have mentioned you stand a higher the chance of unemployment, inflation, tutuion fees, poverty, tax credit reduction under a Torie goverment. History tells us this. So if thats what you really want..!

  14. That's the caring side of the Tories, paying for their brothers and sisters to go to university :winkold: Not sure about working harder for a reduced dick though Of course how else do you reply to that..?
  15. Of course none of this will be the responsibility of the Tories will it...!
  16. Great post again Drat. The hardest thing I fail to understand is this. The Likely hood is that thousands of Tories voters have found them selves unemployed or at best on reduced hours, having to pay more for food and living costs, Who will have to pay treble the ammount to send there siblings to Uni, Who will probably have to work a lot longer for a lot less of a penison. who will receive longer waiting hours when they want to see a doctor, who will have more tax credits taken away from them, who will vote Torie again. If they want a Torie government that badly they are welcome to it...! I heard call me Dave talking about fairness today - some one tell Dave to look up a quote on Irony ffs...! cheers.
  17. David Milliband - make a comback and win the next GE. What a story that would be.
  18. problems. Left back - Clarke is not a left back and is getting done far too often. Right Back - Alan Hutton - when will AM learn Right mid - Gabby is not a winger, he is a confidence player Set pieces - Another goal conceded
  19. Wolves will play 5 in the middle and totally destroy us Wha do you mean by destroy us?
  20. Same thing that happens to any other party. They have to rely on the donations of individual benefactors and members subs. Both the major parties ie Tory and Labour rely on Corporate or Union funds. The only difference is the Unions have to ask the permission of their members to do so. Will shareholders ever get the same right ? It never ceases to amuse me when I see Tory supporters trying to make out donations, as you rightly say subject to membership votes and subject to some of the strictest rules there are, from unions as being bad, but seemingly happy to receive funds from some very questionable sources into the Tory party. It must be just me. Is my question not clear? Am I starting a debate about the good or perceived bad of party donations or have I asked a question as to what happens to Labour if the unions withdraw funding as some may very well be contemplating? But I suspect you know that is the case What ifs but and maybees - exacly that...!
  21. VDV is on about £45,000. He's not one of our highest earners as Madrid paid him to leave or are still paying him, I can't remember which. But either way he was able to accept a much lower wage from us as Madrid compensated for it. Arry has done a good job. Bale - 50 k VDV - 45 K Modric 65 k EA - 70 K All of those roughly add up to what Tevez gets paid at City and he does not even play. My Question to you would be this: How will Spurs convince there top players to stay on next year when agents get involve and other teams will be able to treble their wages? Do you think Arry will take the England job? To be fair the wages have nothing to do with him. That's Levy and in terms of the financial side of running a football club, I'd say he's the bets in the business. I can't see how we can keep our best players for much longer. We can make Bale and Modric stay another year due to the length of their contracts and as long as we qualify for the CL, they might not kick up too much of a fuss. But beyone that we'll have to sell them both. It's not just about wages, but sponsorship deals etc aswell. You get much bigger deals playing for Man utd, Real etc than you do playing for Spurs. It's only a matter of time before Kaboul gets linked to one of the European giants also. As for Harry, I'm really not sure. I genuinley think he'd love to manage England, as I think he really does see it as a huge honour. But at the same time I think he's unsure about it, as he's already said he'd miss the day to day aspect of club management. Also when it comes to football he's a realisit and is aware of the limitations a coach can have. I can't see him looking at a WC held in South America and thinking there is much he can do to make England win it. Even Spain will struggle in Brazil and England have no chance. So my inkling is he wont take it for that reason. nice post. Wages are getting rediculous. I think the PL is getting boaring (sour grapes...!) It says something when Chelsea can even compeat in the PL. let alone Villa.

  23. Any one know how much VAN VER VAART is on? I cant believe Man City gave them EA, City must have spent millions paying hs wages for games he had not played!
