Genuinely forgetting that he played for us. After such an initial excitement was do disappointing for us. I presume he has had no takers for this season?

I generally forgot he was a footballer.

Remind me a bit of Robbie keane when we got him on loan.

You can just see he has that star quality about him.

Very much so. Totally agree. Low Centre of gravity. Quick feet and loves to get shots off. Also scores various types of goals.

Yes, just seen that he signed an extension to 2023 as he would have been out of contract. They are protecting their asset.

This is what annoys me. I really hope there is a prearranged fee in our loan if we choose to execute. No doubt we're paying a loan fee too. I remember Purslow talking about not wanting to develop talent for other teams. They will have our pants down if not and he makes an impression.

    Agreed.

He was on the United bench 31 times last season in the league, so last season at least it seems his injury problems weren't too bad, in fact I think it was only the last four games that he missed through injury.

Well that is good to know. Welcome calm back Axel.

We were in the studio yesterday, filming our reviews of the new PL kits.

I'd managed to get a player version of the Villa home shirt and, as much as I was very unsure from the images, it's an absolute belter.

From an athletic performance standpoint, it's superb. There's a structure to the back of the fabric so it won't stick to the body so easily, it's really well made, the club crest is glorious, there are quite a few different materials and the claret shades all match.

It's a really good quality product for elite athletes.

We'll be giving the shirt away on Twitter when we release the video too 😉

What is your Twitter mate? Love reading your posts as a football shirt collector I’d like to give you a follow!

I don't think it's a matter of loyalty when you outgrow a player. Selling them on requires buy in from the player too, I'm sure Conor would rather we accepted a fair bid and let him go off and play football elsewhere than be 'loyal' and keep him til the end of the contract without getting a kick.

Not the smartest message from Conor with the drool, but it's just an emoji, let's not go mental about it. Been an excellent player for us and it's a shame to have him sitting idle. He should get the chance to go and bring another team up from the championship and have another go with them in the premier League. Good luck to him.

Yes I am sure Conor would be happy enough to move on to another club to play even including a wage reduction. However there are many other players that we have had at this club that haven’t be cut from the same cloth as Conor.

Yes, I agree it was a silly post from Conor. I think he just loves the fact that he’s played with Jack, and a player of his obvious quality, for four and a half years. Yes though. Silly post.

I am a big fan of Adidas kits from the 80s I just think when the ditched the trefoil it's all went down hill.

The Zenith of kit design was Euro 84 not just the Adidas kits but Hummel and Le Coq Sportif too.  Every team seemed to have a classic.

Everyone loves retro don't they? It’s why there is such a massive kit collecting community at present, which I think will only get bigger!

Trefoil Adidas Originals yes.  Modern Adidas I would not touch with a barge pole.

I’d take any. You’re never gonna get a trefoil. That ship sailed long ago.

Totally unrelated to Villa but if Adidas did what Nike has done recently using the old logo for the odd third shirt they’d sell out very quickly. I’m a collector of shirts and bought some of the third Nike shirts with the old logos from two seasons ago!

Players get outgrown by clubs that are in the up all the time. I wish Conor all the best and hope that he has success at his next club but comparing his situation to Jack is a false equivalency. You're saying that Conor's scenario is the inverse of a player who has:

    1. Been with the club since he was 6

    2. Is the captain of the team and beloved by fans.

    3. Arguable bought them up from the Championship to the potential brink of European football (and a cup final)

    4.  His great great grandad lifted the FA Cup with Villa.

That right there is Roy of the Rovers shit. More story than Totti. I thought Jack would stay not just because of loyalty but also the (understandable) lure of being a living God in the city for the rest of his natural life.

I wish Jack had stayed - not just because of his ability but because it would have meant something bigger to every fan of a club that isn't owned by a Petro state and every kid growing up dreaming of playing for his team.  I don't wish Jack any ill - he's just another footballer to me now - but I get why some fans would turn on him. Mostly because I think deep down a lot of us believe that if we were faced with the same choice, we would have stayed.

Conor's just a guy who did his job but just isn't up to the standard now required by the club. It's not the same at all.

I’m not directly comparing the two, because of course they are world apart. Loyalty is a two way street though. players get sold on all the time because they’re no longer wanted by clubs. So when a player moves on because they want to go on and progress their careers and win trophies then really looking at it sensibly what can we say? F*** yeah it hurts this week but that will pass. It’s football

I wish Jack had stay too mate, but he was never going to stay in my own personal opinion. He wants more than to be a god in Birmingham, his own city, as you say. That obviously wasn’t enough for him, and that’s his choice so fair enough. Jack likes the big lights and brand. That’s been apparent for some time.

    But why?

I don't see the argument for them, the idea that they make nice kits it's subjective (I think they're hit and miss at best) but the service that they give clubs like us is well documented to be piss poor

I also don't see how their current templates would look good in our colours

Simply because I’m a massive adidas fan and have always wanted us to have the famous three stripes.

He has some Hollywood momente for sure. Agree we should send him off ane wish him well. He’s more than good enough to start in the Championship. Good servant to Villa.

Totally agree. He’s been great value for money in terms of what we needed at the time and the division we were competitive in.

What's he done to deserve our loyalty? He rarely, if ever, busts a gut for the team. Doesn't like getting his shorts dirty. He scored a few goals, though. Can leave without fanfare or disdain - just a big meh, like his villa career.

It’s a two way street, loyalty. Clubs and players.

For what we paid for him he’s been a brilliant signing too.

Yeah mate, absolutely mental that we don't want to keep a player who isn't good enough for us. Mental

I know, yet we turn on players who want to move on to better themselves. Mental mate, mental.

Definitely his management team that asked for only 4 years. Gives him a bit of leverage in case he wants to move on or resign for a higher salary in 2 years.

Possibly correct with that one. Smart on their part of so.

It was during a podcast with the Irish newspaper, The Southern Star.

I remember an interview after a game, possible around the playoff when we were in the championship the year we went up too.
