    Why is it mental?

Picture it… we are in the relegation zone at the end of the season when Man City come to Villa Park…

City need to win to win the title… Villa need a draw to stay up…

Ball ends up at Grealishs feet with an open goal in front of him with 95.55 on the clock and only 6 minutes of stoppage time…

He’s a professional… so he is going to score… and he has just won them the league…

He will celebrate and love it…

But, at the moment, he is pedalling the whole “I’m Villa through and through, please still love me, I’m still same old Jack” narrative…

He’s trying to have his cake and eat it to preserve his boy-next-door public image that he has gained for himself since he was being tapped up at the Euros

    You should write a book.

  2. Pleased to see him doing so well. Hopefully he stays injury free and get a plenty of games under his belt. I’m sure he will return to The Championship at some point. I think going over there will do wonders for his confidence.

Yesterday I suddenly thought of the possibility of Man City winning the league and FA Cup again plus the CL in the next two or three seasons. If that happens and Jack is a regular starter, I wonder if he might come back to Villa after two or three seasons.

He doesn't need more money, personally I believe him that he's  gone there to win a few major trophies and to improve further by playing with the best team in the country, and thereby get more starts for England too. And you never know, Man C could even win the treble this season.

At the end of the day, although he's now a Man City player, in terms of being a fan of a team he may still consider himself a Villa fan at heart more than a Man City fan, and that feeling may always remain. I'd be pleased if he came back to us in a few years from now, while still in his 20s, just.

I think he may well be back at some point, but in the twilight of his career, and only if things suit both Villa and him. Bit like Rooney going back to Everton.

He signed a six year deal at Manchester City so he’s not just gone there for two or three seasons.

While it may seem ‘pointless’ for Buendia to be there, if he turns down call ups then he’s got no chance of breaking into the team. It’s a similar situation to the 6 England players cut from the final squad for the euros - they stuck around for the friendly games so as not to slip down the pecking order.

Totally agree. He’s caught between a rock and a hard place. He really couldn’t turn down the call up, and although it’s shit for Villa, I think most of us would have done the same.

Fully agree.  The french version of Jacob Ramsey is easily £15 million for the fee and probably triple the wages Ramsey is currently on.

Yet they say you pay premium for English talent.

What I meant by 'we didn't have to send them' is 'we didn't have to let them go' because of the red list conditions in South America. I know the isolation is causing the problem upon return.

    All about player power.

I'm not as conviced as you.....but nothing would please me more, than to see him return to that form.

I think there is more chance of him doing that, than Marv adding ball playing skills to his armoury.

Yeah I think Nakamba has reached his ceiling.

Probably depends how marketable he is. City only payed 100m for him for commercial reasons after the World Cup made him England’s favourite player. They didn’t need him ability wise.

They might not have needed him ability wise, but let’s not get away from the fact that Jack is a class act on the pitch. He certainly doesn’t look out of place in that City side, and with a few of their attacking players now at the age of 30 or slightly the other side of that i think it’s silly to say they only paid 100 million because he is marketable.

Anyway let’s move on. It’s not his thread.

I hope not - unlike Grealish, I think our progress as a club can keep pace with his as a player.

Maybe we will. Time will tell I guess. If it happens it happens. We will all move on very quickly!

  10. Hmm, maybe I’ve missed something. I always got the feeling he loved being a Villa. Just going from his social media posts! For that reason, I think he’ll be one of the next first team to players to extend his stay at Villa Park by signing a new deal.

Its only an opinion . And so is Purslows .they play different roles with different responsibilities.  In terms of outright overall talent Carney i would say edges it but purely in terms of attacking talent Jaden has huge potential . In my opinion of course

Well it would be wonderful for the club if both had a lasting impact in the first team. Only time will tell. Both look great prospects!

We don't need Bailey to be Jack. It was our strategy to replace his impact with Bailey, Buendia and Ings.

I'd be confident in predicting those three will have total goals and assists higher than what Jack contributed to the team last year.

I’d like to think so as that’s three players versus one.

Should we not be adding another two players goals and assists to Jack’s total? I know what the club came out with but Jack took up one place in the team, not three.

    Horrible treatment from Smith.

If either Young or one of the fullbacks picked up an injury now we have little backup.

Hourihane has had the same treatment. Nobody has called it horrible. I don’t get the ‘horrible’ in this. Smith simply doesn’t rate him as a player.

Personally I like Guilbert and would like him to stay, I was of the same opinion last season when he went out on loan.

If he stays I'd start him against Chelsea.

Give Cash a kick up the arse and Fred a chance to impress v top opposition.

I’m lost, why does Cash need a kick up the arse? Did something happen?

One of my favourite signings we've made, scored some incredible goals and that one against baggies was so important. Hope he smashes at Sheffield United!

Same here. He’s been one of my favourite players since he signed. Conor served well.

He’ll always be welcome back at the Villa in later years.
