  1. Every year as far as I'm concerned! Away should always be white, with claret and light blue trim, shorts/socks as a reverse to home strip. Mix n match as required. Pin stripes now and again. If this were the case we would rarely need a third kit, as we could go fully dark claret against say spurs, or fully white v say liverpool, occasional striped shirts clashes, mix n match all three options, or wear the "made for the youngsters to wear on the streets" hideous third kit that satisfies $ and for those who don't get our history and colours - but NEVER mid or dark blue!
  2. I'm hoping we go just a lion (even if it s blobby lion) on shirts as a 150th year thing, there's a big backlash when they release the 'heck' badge, loads of fans complain about lack of consultation to FA, and they start again properly....its embarrassing, but it needs to be done correctly - within the FA guidelines - the fan base needs to stand firm, and not just get seduced by a trefoil and three stripes and give Mr Heck his "we sold record shirts" so look how correct I am about everything....
  3. The 150 mark is on the website and was on the centre circle on Saturday - and hence the "seemingly" re the badge! Maybe he's a genius and has registered those terrible badges with copyright, to throw us off the sent for a big, coherent, on brand release, ....one day, soon....
  4. probably, he's ruining the rest of the aesthetics of the club, why not the shirt too....
  5. no - its terrible, and will ruin our new kit and merchandise....
  6. I'm a die hard for claret body, blue sleeves - but didn't mind the luke one, at least is had a bit of blue on it, and blue socks - but I probably got caught up in the success of the team and local boy making the kit....
  7. I can't believe Captain 'onbrand' has seemingly sanctioned two new logos (club badge and 150 'mark') with different fonts, different clarets, different blues, with yellow on one, gold on the other - doesn't the term 'brand' infer consistency across output?
  8. Claret lion (new one!) on blue back ground, gold trim, or Gold Lion on Claret with significant blue.... otherwise we don't represent claret n blue, look like West Ham's Badge, or even Bradford's. If we are about building a 'brand' we need to brand ourselves claret and blue - we are the original ( and currently best) Claret and (light) Blue team in Europe/World? - if we are to honour our rich history and fans, whilst trying to build a new bigger global fan base/customer base - it HAS to say Claret and Blue (with the gold for detail, depth etc. as needed) Yellow or Gold on light blue is a disaster and will need addressing again in a few years. The badge is used so often away from the shirt, in graphics, TV, websites, papers, documents, other merchandise - it has to be predominantly claret and blue, with a rampant lion or its not Aston Villa. @PerryBarrPet - the city of birmingham crest badge was only a bit of fun, and one of many I knocked up - but I didn't really think we should adopt it! (I'd take it over the leaked one, but there are so many other good ones on here)
  9. Forgive me if this has been covered in the previous 375 pages (I'm a newbie and may have missed it) but are there any options with rail seating / safe standing? Is there any currently at VP? (I live a long way away and have only been a few times in past few seasons - taking any ticket I could!) Any plans? Is it possible to replace large sections and if so, does it increase capacity by say 10 - 15% in that area, or do the rails just take up the space? I'd imagine at least half the Holte ticket holders would be interested, plus bottom of North, the new 'singing section' etc.....
  10. A bit late, but as requested from @fightoffyour and @Stephen_Evans Stephen, I don't think the middle one works cutting off the claret border - so just a more plain old school 3rd one....
  11. This one is a little polarising - we already do, but this would 'own the city'.....
  12. 1982 - but in a shield because the powers that be don't want a circle.... and @Jas10 sorry, but no stripes, ever again..... Home: Claret shirt, blue sleeves, white shorts, blue socks.. Away: White with claret n blue trim/shorts/socks different to home so can be mixed and matched, (eg 1981, 82 etc) Third: (if we have to to make $ and satisfy the youngsters who are bored with 'essential' Aston Villa) - anything tasteful, but NEVER blue.....
  13. There was never a question re the Lion from me - this current one all the way, I was just comparing designs side by side to highlight (my perceived) problems with the old blob - especially when badge is smaller. I will admit to warming to a golden lion whilst doing them, (hence two in my final 5) - but only if there is significant Claret n Blue to ensure the gold is an addition, not a focus (in the last design the lion has been reduced compared to claret component) I would be happy to buy merchandise with any of these designs (even if they weren't mine!) or Tash's AV Diamond - but I'm very unlikely to buy anything with the leaked horror show drop shadow on it......
  14. @Teale's 'tache yup - that's the one thanks for reposting! That's a fantastic design, best concept I've seen, and I've been trawling the net! If only Mr Heck.... @Jas10 - no not my account, no twitter for me, as I said in my first post or second - some original designs, but many of my ideas were based on or tweaks of others, I'm not claiming they are all my own, some I've tweaked the geometry, or the colours, or like the one you posted, changed the shield shape and stuck with a winning formula (no star though!) I accidentally got very close when using the Heck shape to do the gold lions ones, then compared it to the colour palette I'd choose - so apologies to primetimeperry, I'm not meaning to take credit for your design - but there's only so many ways to do a Villa shield.
  15. @CarryOnVilla - apologies, I didn't reply yesterday - had to go to bed down here, and 'ran out of replies' - I can only post 5 times a day as I'm a newbie! To answer your question - I'd pitch these design to the Villa, - as I think they fit the bill and represent Villa for shirt, media, merchandising, stadium etc. I'd also pass on the blue AV diamond on claret background with gold lion, from someone on here previously - Teale's Tash I think - that is a fantastic design, unique for villa designs, has heritage with the old frontage and top of old Trinity Rd fascia vibes, fairly unique (I can only think of Monchengladbach with a diamond shape) and just stands out for Villa, looked good on kit mock up and great design - doesn't say our name, but I don't think it needs to. @Teale's 'tache - if that was your design, can you repost it please? - I can't locate it in the 240 pages of this thread. And I hear your point on designers possibly having their hands tied - which may well be the case, Id love to hear the brief they were given! Apologies if I came across too hard, when they are probably restricted to half a job, to tweak the rubbish we already have, to save costs, and potentially evolve one slow mutation at a time, but its so bad!....
  16. Some Golden Lions, and Old v New lion comparisons, side by side for you all......especially @fightoffyour and @Jas10 ! Then, compared to claret lion on blue, and even some no gold options.... I still think the old Lion looks very 'slabby' or flat/tubby (almost dragon-esque) next to the new one (the 'ornamental' old lion is beyond my skills in illustrator). As a team who are the original Claret n Blue team, I feel we need as much claret and blue in the badge as possible - or we look very much like claret n gold or that 'bubbles' are involved as another poster said. Curved top also helps get the font slightly bigger for the name to stand out....maybe Mr Heck knows what he's, no wait, text at the top..... To repeat whats been said many times, its not that difficult, to get to here - if Mr Hecks offering is from a professional design agency, they are taking him for a ride....
  17. There's a reason for that!.....
  18. @fightoffyour its been a long and spread out read! I went for the shield as Mr Heck has clearly decided it has to be so....I like the circle (first badge I supported) but I think we need that claret n blue majority, especially when its on paper, online or the TV to fully represent Villa as the original claret n blues - at the moment we are too blue and yellow, west ham steal our thunder - hence gold/yellow only used sporadically above.
  19. Great Thanks!! So all in the right place now - sorry everyone - I'll raise my game to Unai levels moving forward.... These designs are somewhat original, but in large part draw basis and inspiration, with some tweaks (some almost copies - so acknowledgements to you all), from many posters on here, 1957 badge, previous badges, tradition, and looking at the array of modern designs across the top leagues in europe. I feel it has to predominantly Claret and Blue (not yellow and blue) so it works on the shirt and in media as a representation of us. Current lion is far better than the blobby lion from learner (in my opinion), but back facing left and not falling over. Star is gone - its small time - if we hope to be in the UCL in the next season(s), take it off now! Most work well on claret or white (away kit should always be white) with maybe a font colour change on some. Apart from one these, the AV diamond with gold lion (I think by teale's tash) would be my vote rather than the drop shadow abomination..
  20. Thanks Fightoffyour! https://imgur.com/53Rx6pr Sorry everyone - not as smooth as the rest of you.... the insert button doesn't like my link, and I'm clearly not getting it - is it restricted for newbies? 21. Hi all, My first post here - this badge debacle has made me sign up, rather than just reading all 237 pages of your views! I like many of you am horrified by the leaked design, which following the new sponsor's press release seems to be the one we are going with. Whilst on pitch and in the financials we are going very well, the brand and customer service is awful. This 'on brand' thing is amateur - the 150 'mark' doesn't even have any integrity with fonts, or even colours of the new badge - one gold, one yellow, different clarets etc! Mr Heck is obviously skilled in getting commercial partners, but his design and branding needs work. The PSG badge has had significant positive feedback and plaudits in design circles - the same agency who did our round badge - why not reengage them? Anyway, I was so annoyed, I spent a few hours learning illustrator and using my GCSE Art and Design, from way back (1990) and knocked up a 'few' more designs - but as a newbie Luddite I am having trouble uploading them.....
  22. Hi Villans, Im new here from Perth, Australia... Originally from Solihull (the right side of) and been going to Villa Park since 1984, and following the VIlla through a few ups and quite a few downs since. Don't get to B6 very often these days - its an expensive round trip, but did get to Burley at home in January, and was treated to the Newcastle at home game last season, plus got to see the boys in Perth last year! Delighted with our current footballing regime but less happy with the off field situation. Fingers crossed we can keep it up for 7 more games........ Cheers Ingers
