  1. That wouldn't surprise me, akin to Poch at PSG
  2. Sky need to get an interview with Cucurella, he is the one man that can give Lange competition on the 'big smile' front. Today may just be the day for him to put the winning smile on record
  3. I believe he refused the job as opposed to people getting angry. I like to let myself believe that he refused the Toon job because he didn't want to work for the Saudi's on moral grounds which just makes me like Emery so much more than I did previously
  4. Emery was offered the Toon job and refused it, I believe that is public record as opposed to hearsay. He is a good manager but his teams play dirty football. I don't like it when I watch it but if it was my team I am sure I would come around to it
  5. Not surprised if the reported compensation is 16m is true. Add compo to SG and his backroom team and compo for Potter's backroom team and wages for Potter and it would cost about 30m to swap SG for Potter
  6. Then we would probably be looking for a new manager now
  7. We didn't miss out chance with Potter. It not a case of first come first served
  8. Cucurella will be a happy bunny and a guaranteed starter for Fantasy Football I suspect
  9. Chelsea have brought in some real quality in this window. I would be very happy with if every player they bought had joined Villa
  10. Sky reporting Chelsea have permission to speak to Potter, talks this afternoon
  11. If we are laughing at Chelsea then we are in a very very good position imo. Chelsea bought a player for 100m and let him go on loan for a reported 6m the following season. If that doesn't warrant the DoF losing his job I have no idea what would
  12. I would be concerned if SG wasn't dependent upon first team coaches. If he isn't then we are employing under qualified coaches or not using the coaches we have to their full potential. The best managers are the ones that have the confidence to employ the best people to work for them
  13. Thanks. yes that was a typo, I will fix
  14. It will be interesting to see if Potter does go to Chelsea. The amount of people on here that said he won't leave Brighton (myself included with the caveat he would leave during the summer and not midseason) may see that money talks
  15. The trend has been the same since Jan 2021. We are averaging very close to 1 ppg. Contrary to popular narrative there isn't a continuous downward trend. Yes we had a spike when SG joined us but that followed a 5 game losing streak. As you are using the word 'trend' you need to iron out the spikes and look at what the actual ppg is. So SG has so far demonstrated he cannot improve the ppg since when he took over. With a new manager it makes sense to give a chance before we pull the plug. He has had a preseason and he has got his players in. It is prudent to allow him more than 6 games to prove himself. If he doesn't then he gets sacked
  16. I would think his sacking has a huge amount to do with Lukaku. They spent 100m on him last year and he is out on loan this season. That is a monumental cock up. The poor form this season is probably just the straw that broke the camel's back.
  17. I haven't seen anyone show blind faith that one more game will mark the end of the issues. Wanting to give a novice manager more time is not showing blind faith, it is giving him a chance to demonstrate he can adapt and learn.
  18. Are u ITK? Do u have a link/evidence to back up that assertion?
  19. More or less identical to Brighton's avg age. I wonder what Potter thinks of this . But sitting at about the median of avg age in the PL looks to be a good place to be. The clubs with an average age lower than ours all look to be lower half finisher apart from Arsenal
  20. Costa's work permit has been refused, they really can't catch a break.
  21. I know what the narrative is, it just has more credibility when the facts are accurate and not embellished.
  22. He was, but for where we were at the time, we are no longer there
  23. It just wouldn't feel right going back to Brentford for another manager
