  1. If we signed Joe Aribo this place would meltdown. I like the GK signing but haven't heard of the others but French Lique 2 and u23s doesn't really impress
  2. 13m looks cheap for a 27 yr old with so many PL games experience and presumably he will not have to move house or move his family
  3. Carlos is a notable improvement on all of our CBs. We can't blame the recruitment for his injury
  4. It is difficult to sell a player if no offers come in, can't blame the management on that. Also, as he had only 1 yr left on his contract and it was public that he was 'in discussion' over a new deal and not signing one, it would be crazy for other clubs to not wait until the last day. We are at our most vulnerable today and other clubs know this.
  5. Do u really think a player would make a decision this important to his career based on whether we won our first 4 games or not. There are so many factors that would come ahead of that imo.
  6. The club has said they want to keep Doug, Sky reporting that Doug is not for sale and staying at Villa yet there are posted saying we are swapping Doug for Dednonker
  7. Its funny how people want to believe the 'not so inspiring' rumours and treat them as fact but the positive rumours are completely dismissed.
  8. I doubt that. Transfer window closes later today and Purslow will know definitely whether any of the clubs are actually interested as they would have contacted Villa. Villa don't need to worry about his contract terms today.
  9. And Arsenal and Sky saying Chelsea interest too. If more than one of those 4 clubs are genuinely interested we will get decent offer in and I think it would be very hard to keep him.
  10. If Lange is trying to do anything behind Gerrard's back he should be sacked.
  11. I agree with the logic of we would be able to sign him if we really tried but I think he would be 70m+ and way out of our budget. I would prefer to spend 40m on a player and 30m on a manager
  12. Our record is poor in the transfer market but there is a little bit of clickbait narrative in that Tweet. We signed Chuk in 2016 and sold him this year for 20m. We bought Targett in 2019 for 14m and sold him for 15m in 2022 too.
  13. At Leicester, they were part of the Tielemans transfer
  14. The England job is a step down from a PL manager, why would he want that? Good managers try international football following a long successful job in club management. Some lucky managers get the mighty Boro relegated and go on to manager England.
  15. And what would u say to the Swedish twins lying in bed beside u when u wake up after that wonderful dream that became reality
  16. But I like what it says and want to believe it
  17. The disruption of changing manager is very big, the first year of a manager is problem the most difficult for a club. I don't want to see us go through the pain and then act before we have come out the other side. I get that things are not looking good but I would like to see him given a little more time. But I as I have said on here, since before we employed SG, my number one choice of manager is Poch and if we can get him I would sack whoever was in charge
  18. Tbh, I don't think Parker got sacked over the 9-0 result, it was the things he said in the post match and the statement from the owner was scathing.
  19. I am all for giving SG some time this season to see what he can do but the way feelings to seem fairly strong against him which makes me think he will be gone sooner rather than later. Lets hope the next guy will cause less of a divide. Too much baggage with Gerrard's name and the fact that he replaced the much loved Deano for him to ever really win over the fans.
  20. I would be happy with someone like Dyche as an assistant coach or defensive coach but not the man to bring us forward. Although, as u say, he set up the team to suit the players he had, I suspect that by the end of his tenure at Burnley, every single player was bought by him and it looked like they were bought for the Burnley system. Maybe this is what he meant by cutting his cloth but I would worry about his style. I have only seen Burnley twice since Kompany took over but they are like chalk and cheese to last year. A lot of the same squad and having lost their most creative players yet they are playing nice attacking football
