It's just not as easy accessible now. You have to dig for it, which in some ways makes it much more satisfying when you unearth a gem. I cringe a little bit when I hear people saying "all modern music is shit", which most of the time tends to be an opinion that's born out of hearing what's in the charts (though yes, chart music back in the day was much better).

There's a big difference between saying "I prefer the older stuff" to "all new stuff is shit". This, by the way, coming from someone who absolutely loves bands from the 70s and 80s too.

I think a big part of this is you mostly just remember the really good music from an era or the really tragically bad stuff, mediocre shit you don’t change the channel for but wouldn’t seek out just gets forgotten so you are really comparing the broad spectrum of current music against the really best stuff from the past. I’m sure there was plenty of shit to wade through back then as well….albeit less of it generated by an algorithm rather than creative people but still

That’s the plan, that she looks for a place of her own whilst at mine. She has a fair bit of saved up cash behind her but the rental market here is BRUTAL at the moment and without rental history it might take a while.

You are right though, I’ll have a conversation with her about it and try be a bit less blunt than I can sometimes be when it comes to this stuff.

The Hobson case is absolutely horrible and a timely reminder that evil people exist in every community and we should always be vigilant with matters as serious as this and investigate properly, I don’t understand how when a child is covered in bruises and so many different people are raising the issue you could just get away with playing the homophobia card (which I say as someone with my than my share of letters in the LGBTQI+ soup) and skirt all suspicion.

Obviously between this and the tragic case with little Arthur social services over there really need a good look at? I get there are lots of issues around funding but cases as blatant as this one are inexcusable to miss and a child has lost her life.

So my girlfriend’s parents (Who have always been polite and welcoming to me in person) have kicked her out of home basically because they don’t approve of her dating me. I feel responsible and she has nowhere really to go on short notice but we haven’t been dating all that long and I don’t think we are ready to live together (I’ve only ever lived with a partner once and I completely torpedoed the relationship because of it) I CANNOT deal with my home environment being disordered and not tidy to my standards and I’m freaking out about suddenly having to share my space with a 25 year old who has never been out of home before and honestly kept a fairly messy room. I’m hoping her parents back down and realise they are out of order  but I can’t see this ending well.

Fantastic knock so far from Head, exactly when it was required as well. Has to put the debate over the number 5 position to bed for the time being. If he can press on and get 100 it could be a real breakout performance establishing himself as Australia’s go to middle order destroyer

Sad to see Robinson go off, he’s bowled very well and you always want to see the best teams out there playing

Didn’t see that coming, Marnus can be his own worst enemy sometimes when things are rolling along. It will be interesting to see how they approach Smith in this situation.
