Battling Spurs for 4th it seems.

I keep hearing contradicting things about 5th qualifying for Champions League this year.  Is that doubtful now due to Newcastle and Man Utd being shite in Europe?

Still very likely but we need English sides to go far in UCL, UEL and UECL.

I like to watch 5-minute clips of players on YouTube and then make my mind up.

I also email the club giving my opinions as I'm quite a big deal when it comes to internet scouting. 😎

You just love the music they add to the clips

The lack of belief in Villa is really surprising.

Even in this supposed poor run for us we have 11 points out of 18, Arsenal 7, City 13, Liverpool 14, Spurs 13.  So yes we’ve dropped a couple of points but if this is our bad run, we aren’t doing that bad.

I trust in Emery, especially with Torres and Tielemans back from injury, Kamara back from his three game ban and then the likes of Moreno and JJ getting match fit plus we’ve had a 12 day break.

We’ll get back to our ~2 points a game which’ll get us Top4 imo.

Generally Emery seems to learn from these bad runs too, so hopefully we see some development against these low blocks going forward.

I think we know one of our players will be sold so we can reinvest and JJ being homegrown fits that bill sadly due to FFP. Also we’re 4th with him being out of the picture due to injury and I cannot see us being in that position if we were missing Luiz or Kamara for instance for the same period. He is a great player but also somewhat dispensable in some aspects. Don’t wanna sell him but rather him than the aforementioned.

The flip side of this is that we do need to be aware of our Homegrown/Non-HG quota, which I imagine we are at the limit of, hence the Morgan Rogers link

Right, I’m here. What have I missed.

Leeroy is a massive fan of the player and is desperate for us to sign him is what i've garnered from the thread so far...

No lol. WTF is this sh*te.

Yep this is accurate regards the known picture. Though it's not from @Czarnikjak (though he does provide plenty of other useful insight regards club finances) but the Swiss Ramble blog, which is definitely more reliable than whatever that other link was.

I think people really need to chill (as is often the case) regards FFP and this window. My own forecasting prior to the season had us with plenty room to do the business we've done since, but with some potential issues to keep in mind (albeit perfectly manageable ones) in 24/25 if we pushed a bit too far and/or didn't make the expected progress in the league. I haven't reworked my numbers in any detail, but three key points regarding where we might have move from that forecast:

    1. We didn't exceed what I'd expected us to spend in the summer (if anything we underspent my expectation)

    2. We made at least what I'd expected us to make in sales profit (if anything we might have made more)

    3. Our performance to date this season indicates a likely finish multiple places above my forecast and a very high chance of CL football next season, which should give the club even more reason and scope to spend in January if they feel they need to without setting us up for potential issues next season.

Thank you also @tomsky_11, I always enjoy reading your FFP posts!

I'm hoping yours is accurate and thank f*CK for that.

My bad for trusting the Internet lol.

Still shows we need smart trading and more income though, but MUCH better than what I saw.

Blame @Czarnikjak if we get a 10 point deduction 🤣

Really not keen on the idea of 30/31 year old players of dubious quality being signed. Makes me wonder if we’ve either lost our ambition or have FFP issues, but I’d rather we do nothing than litter the squad with aging players who don’t offer any improvements on the team. Free transfers are a good strategy when you’re bringing in players like Kamara and Tielemans who are quality (even if Tielemans had lost his way a bit at Leicester), not players like Anderson who’s already been poor in the league and going to be receiving his pension soon. Some of the other names mentioned as suggestions for a team in 2nd with a world class manager like Dele Alli, I mean WTF?

Hopefully people will regain their sanity soon and start talking about quality players who will actually improve us.

Day 5 of the window, that must be a record! 🏆

If Duran is available to loan then we are surely gonna replace him?

Neil from the For The Love of Paul Mcgrath podcast stated he had been given a name for a Jan striker target but wouldnt give the name.

Said it was in the vein of a Gerard Moreno i.e. Experienced Striker in late 20's

Not sure how legit the source was though!

i dont see where Percy even said this.

That twitter account regularly @'s other accounts with his posts, but if you follow it, the person doesnt say it, its like he is trying to advise the person he @'s that someone else is saying it, i dunno.

Anyway, if anyone can link where Percy actually said that let me know.

percy isn't normally one to tell tales. if he says there's been a rift with emery and duran, you can generally say there's probably some truth in it

and the striker mentioned is 17. emery shot down talk of there being someone we could sign that's better than watkins

"There is growing interest in Jhon Duran, the forward, amid alleged friction behind the scenes with Emery"

The above could also be read as; Other teams have heard the rumours of friction (which has been plentiful) and therefore have enquired about his availability, rather than Percy validating the claims of a rift maybe.

We’ve scraped past our dodgy patch. We will have a full squad, barring Mings and Emi being fully fit and other than that will be fully functioning,  Ramsey flying down the left with Alex. Rejuvenated midfield with options, and the ever building Bailey and Diarby understanding plus a couple of clever signings from Monchi

Buendia 83rd min strike to beat Liverpool and let the celebrations begin

then we win the conference league

sounds like a @Delphinho123 wet dream

  15. It’d be a shame for us to see him leave on a permanent, but even more of a shame for him I think…

Obv it may all be rumours and gossip but Emery’s work with high level strikers speaks for itself

Not quite, lost to Brighton 4-2 on Thursday.

They’ve won four out of their last five so in good form. Whereas the five prior to that they lost four and drew once.

They seem to have a lack of control of games, even when winning.

Will potentially cost them the top 4 spot.
