6 wins out of 12 sounds nice but we have Man City away, Arsenal away and Liverpool at home 2nd last game when they may be gunning for the title.

I know they aren't automatic losses but being cautious take those out and its 6 wins out of 9.

Its why the Luton game is massive.

Tottenham have Palace Luton and Notts Forest as their next 3 at home coming up and their last 2 games will be against already relegated Burnley and Sheffield United.

I honestly think it comes down to the next 2 games for us, winning v Luton and Spurs.

Who do they have mid april-mid may out of interest?

I thought that at first but then where is the neck collar! Also would it be allowed given that’s where the players names would be.  Then I thought maybe it’s the front  above where the adidas logo will be…hmmm…

interestingly this mock up has it between the Adidas badge and the crest, however it does caveat that it may be in a different location.

"The Adidas Aston Villa 2024-2025 home shirt mock-up will feature the Aston Villa 150th anniversary mark on the center of the chest (the final design may feature the AV 150 mark in a different position on the shirt)"

    We need another striker.

We have got away with Ollie so far not picking up any injuries.

Duran's agent will still be desperate for his client to get his midtable move to Chelsea in the summer and Archer's only scored like 4 in 20 odd for Sheff United.

Probably more one for the future and have to take Turkish press with a pinch of salt but we've been pretty consistently linked with Semih Kilicsoy from Besiktas.

Turns 19 in the summer but has 9 in 14 in the league.

Does that include gate receipts? They only won one game if I remember rightly.

No i don't think it does, just what they get from UEFA:

"The amount earned from UEFA’s competitions depends on four different elements:

    • Participation fee

    • Prize money

    • UEFA coefficient

    • TV pool"

In regards to summer business it will depend heavily on two key points.

The first is whether we qualify for the champions league. That is basically 40 million extra revenue just from being in the group stages. Then an extra 2 million for every game we win, and 1 million for a draw.

The second is the shifting of surplus players. So if we can move on Chambers, Dendonker, Sanson, Hause. That will knock over 200k per week or nearly 15 million per year off the wage bill.

Do those two things and we are looking at being at least 50 million better off, without incoming transfer fees.

Then there are players like Digne, and potentially Cash and Carlos who may be worth cashing in on while they still have value. As that's another 250k per week in wages, plus some decent transfer fees.

In Dignes case two 30 year old left backs one on 60k who is just as good as the other on 120k means Digne is sellable. Plus Sousa is waiting in the wings and Someone like Acuna is available for a low fee and moderate wages.

In Cash's case Konsa is just as good as him at right back, the best right back prospect in Europe is incoming, and Kessler-Hayden is a good young attacking fullback. So we can get by there.

Carlos is a player I like but he is on 100k or there abouts, and needs to improve a bit. I also believe we need a really dominant right cb (who can play out) as in the air we are vulnerable.

Once the season ends Lenglet and Zaniolo's loans will be over and that's 250k in wages off the books, with no need to replace (as Mings will be back, and we brought in Rogers).

So potentially that's 50 million a year in wages gone all in all. Plus if we get champions league another 40 million. The transfers fees in of 40 to 60 million. Without selling any of our best players. Obviously though Carlos would need to be replaced.

My only desire for incomings next season for now is a Saliba-esque right centre half. Defence can be improved. And Pau would thrive with a huge, quick centre half alongside him that can pass well. If we then have Konsa as primary right back with Nedeljovic as the rotation option. We can also revert to the very reliable partnership of Mings and Konsa. The defence would be rock solid.

I'm waiting on a DM addition as I want to see how Iroegbunam gets on. I rate the lad.

Just to add a bit of detail on this, Newcastle estimated to have received around €34m from their group stage, including the win bonuses, so would be closer to £30m all in.

I'm going to recuse myself from this topic for the time being. As and when the club or brand formally share something I'll chip in with my £0.02 worth.

The only thing I'll add is that both Villa and the brand are going to be taking the relationship and the projected direction of the club very seriously. Champions League teams get Champions League service.

Not questioning you at all but is this based on something you've heard from inside the club or just a hunch?

Didnt know where else to post this..

What a couple of weeks ahead.

Ajax fixtures put us up against an established UCL team

A chance at the jugular of Spurs to give ourselves that edge on UCL next season

Ramsey hitting form just at the right time.

Ramsey/Moreno attacking the space behind Porro and an on fire Leon Bailey in behind ooooh Doggy will hopefully be a delight to watch!

What are you on about? You asked a question and I’ve given a response. They do have greater spending power, but that doesn’t mean we can’t compete.

Chelsea have spent close a $1bn and are well below us, yet they are magically gonna come good next season are they?

Why? You think all of Man City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Man U, Newcastle and Chelsea are going to be strong and consistent next season?

    How would that even work?

One of the reasons why Man U and Chelsea are so weak is because we are now so strong. Even gifting Man U six points we are much better than them.

One of the most frustrating lines people trot out, no data or stats behind it

We have a great chance of making 4th or 5th and if we don’t, you take 6th and another season of European football.  It’s still progress.

However, I do think we may not get a better opportunity of Champions League football as we do now though. Spurs, United, Newcastle and Chelsea, just haven’t been consistent throughout the season and I can only see them coming back stronger next season.  The time is now.

    Based on...?

I’d be fascinated to see what’s happened behind the scenes to get him to this level. His entire mentality has changed. Before, even beyond his lack of confidence taking players on, he also had terrible decision making. He’s now very reliable in not giving the ball away. I can’t think of a player who’s transformed for the better in such a short space of time

Endless hours of homework, video reviews and meticulous coaching.

alongside a willingness and ability to absorb feedback and instruction.

We were the better team, but at 3-2 they have a great chance and then who knows.

Same last week at Fulham, we were clearly the better team but they have a good chance chance to equalise at the end etc.

But there was jeopardy in both games, and we managed to get the job done.

It wasn’t a criticism of the team - I’m quite happy if we continue to be the better team in games and get 3 points, even if it is closer than we would like.

Every game in this league is going to be tough bar maybe 2/3 teams
