I don't think taking their only consistent, homegrown performer from them for a decent price is helping them out. Yes, they'll get a cash injection but their team will be poorer for it.
FWIW, I've always liked Gallagher. I think he could play centrally for us or even in the McGinn/Ramsey role a little wider of the pivot. For the right price, it would be a really solid signing for us.
Talks of £50m though, I think you could find the same profile elsewhere in Europe for much cheaper.

I'd move for Conor Gallagher. I think he'd be amazing under Emery and is versatile in playing a CDM Vs a regular 8 type.
If any prem team helps Chelsea out of their financial crisis its absolutely criminal.

I can’t see us missing both Bailey and Tielemans. Think they both asked to be subbed off due to tiredness more than anything so hopefully one of them is feeling fresh enough to play.
-
A little bit frustrating that after all our owners have done for us, it seems like people are still just waiting for an opportunity to give them shit for something.
I may be naive but I have complete trust that everything they do is for the benefit of the club.

Sure but we don't know what his opinion so we can discuss it without bringing him up. It's **** pointless otherwise.
I understand, this is a forum after all.
I was more coming from the point of view that the Pau Torres signing shocked everyone pretty much as nobody thought we needed a CB and look how that worked out. I just don't think you can write off players/positions as signings at the moment is all.

Frimpongs supposed buyout clause is a relative snip, same with Williams. Those are the fees you'd expect to pay for players like them.
Baenas is 60 million and he's worth nowhere near that much we will negotiate what we feel is a fair price if we are indeed interested. Personally I hope not as I don't really see what he offers this team and I'd rather spend that money on a number of other players in the summer.
Unai's opinion is all that matters

Still a good chance of England getting the additional place according to a twitter page that reports on the coefficients

Andre from Fluminense may not be a bad shout for CM rotation. Deal sounds like it can be done in Jan, would fit in well with our South Americans and may be comfortable not being a nailed on starter
-
If we can get UCL its a perfect time to agree a new shirt deal

Don't think anyone's posted but seems to be a RB/RM/CM type. Personally I'd prefer someone like Geertruida or Boey but that might be a bit beyond our price range in Jan as they'd probably cost somewhere between 30-40 mil
Pretty sure that twitter account has been outed as a fraud about 100x over though

A few points…
Everyone on here keeps referencing our dropped points to Forest, Wolves, Bournemouth etc, but the other three title challengers have had similar struggles. That’s why we’re two points off top.
The calendar year points total is a strong body of evidence to show this is not a temporary patch of form…it’s a sustained pattern under Emery.
Our style of play is generally a less intense press and more control/ball retention. I think this is contributing to less injuries, less fatigue and more opportunity for less rotation and therefore stronger team dynamics. MON understood the benefit of a consistent team selection but his playing style wrecked the players by March. Emery has the best of both worlds.
Out of Newcastle, Brighton and Villa (the three teams new to European competition), Villa are the one thriving in the PL (also West Ham from last and this season). Emery is a master and balancing European competition with league performance and is drawing on all of his experience. Look at Newcastle. I feel sorry for Howe, but it was naive to think their all action high energy style would carry through the extra fixtures. After that opening fixture who should have thought where we’d both be now. The season is a marathon not a sprint.Honestly though as Villa fans, short of a trophy win, it simply doesn’t get better than this. The thrill of the rise to the top, the excitement of the chase, and seeing the development and emergence of a team of good lads buying in to Emery. Wherever we finish just enjoy it. I guarantee deep down this is more satisfying to Villa fans than the PL title win is to Man City fans
Massive point that people just ignore

You say this as if it's totally out choice. Players have contracts with end dates. The only reason we would discuss selling a player we see as key is because said contract has 2 years left. As this is the last point you can get maximum market value for the player. When the player has one year left you sell at a discount from the previous year or you keep the player for the season and let them go for free.
Now if we make an assumption Luiz would only sign a contract extension after we qualify for CL then the club have a decision to make this summer and then next summer. This is why it "makes sense" to the club. They will know Luiz' position.
I think the fact he only signed a 3 year extension and not a 4 or 5 year one is a bit telling to me. Martinez, Watkins etc.. all signed 5 year deals which is fully committed. The 3 year deal was a wait and see contract.
He was rotting on the bench under Gerrard....

Looks like he may be on his way out.
”
Leander Dendoncker would no longer be part of Unai Emery's plans!
A departure from Aston Villa would be likely but Leander would not want to leave England and would like to stay in the Premier League”

Yep. They'll be saying the same about Digne.
Given they play a very high line too, we could get to a point in the game where all 20 outfield players are within 10 yards of the halfway line... MENTAL I TELL YOU.
It's going to be mayhem and I can't wait
-
After watching a fair bit of spurs I think we will rely heavily on that sweeping ball of his over to Digne/Moreno to get in behind Porro, per our first goal yesterday

Do we need to tie him down to a new contract now then?

We need Watkins to be pressuring Bassey all day long today, he’s looked awful when they’ve tried to play it out from the back
