When's the last Villa player with double digit goals and assists?

    Young mk 1?

    Edit: Yorke 95-96 seems like

Milner before we sold him must have been close. I think he had 9 goals and 13 assists as I remember it. Or the other way round.

    You can coach the finish

You can't coach the slowing down of the run to lose the defender, he slowed down and then changed the angle too, the defender matches diabys speed and runs in a straight line, Rodgers didn't, the finish was snatched at probably nervously but the movement was everything it needed to be

I don't mean to be pedantic, but you definitely can!

Consider it whatever Pantone or shade of blue you like or think is right - the point is to further demonstrate how ridiculous and frustrating the colour use is at present. We have 3 colours to consider (I have no idea why white has been added, and appreciate some people prefer just claret and blue). Whatever the reason is, or ever was to go yellow on blue, is a bad one.

Whatever anyone’s opinion of the overall design of elements (I think it’s crap and unbalanced, would drop the star and 1874, but whatever), there are multiple colour combinations that at least give this thing contrast.

So please Chris, one more step at least, you can do this… (then we can move on to composition, and maybe promote you from Work Experience to Intern Designer)

The yellow lion and claret background is the best, but for me the majority blue and claret ones don't really work. To those I prefer the one you wrote Whhhhhhhy over—that one is absolutely fine. It's a marked improvement from the drop shadow version and looks good. (but yeah, the claret background and yellow lion is best)

You know I meant real as something created by the club or fake as in a Villa fan created just based on info.  I didn’t mean real as actual fabric/photo.

I think he knew that and was saying that it's clearly not real. (not that it was a photo)

Maybe not, but it's clearly not the kind of image you'd use to sell that design. All the decisions are wrong (angles etc, and the fact it's messy)

He's not kicking up a fuss, but some were asking if he'd have grounds to do so, he doesn't.

It is very strange though, that the club have trademarked the design with the extra detailing, because I'm not sure they needed to. They already had all of the components that make it up trademarked and I don't think it's enough of a deviation to really warrant the extra trademark, but full disclosure I'm no expert on trademarking.

Personally, I think the detailing causes as many issues as it solves. It looks really nice in the render, and it looks slightly better than the non-detailed version at large-ish sizes, but at smaller sizes it looks a real mess. There are still fundamental issues with the design, no amount of extra detail is going to fix that.

I'm not really sure what is going on now, @OutByEaster? said the club is speaking with the FA and I've no idea how long that process will last or has been going on, but I'd be surprised if the detailed version is what has resulted from those talks.

Possibly they've seen the render and thought it looks nice, thought maybe we can use that somewhere, or someone else might use it somewhere, lets trademark it just in case.

The whole situation is a complete mess and the communication on the matter has been beyond poor, it might all be worth it if we got a great crest/brand at the end of it, but from what I've seen so far that's going to be far from the case.

I kind of feel people jump on this stuff too much. Lots of stuff happens behind closed doors all the time. I get it there are rules about fan consultation, but whatevs.

I don't think the detailing on our potential badge is any worse than any other badge.

In fairness, the last one is really nice. And weirdly, having said what I've just said, if the text is going to be at the bottom, I prefer the two versions of the crest with the 1874.

    Maybe I'm wrong about that.

    I think I like 2 and 3, and then 5. Maybe 2 and 3 are good!

But the first one really is very shit looking now.

In fairness, that " Asten " account put the overlay on the lion way before Bosko Boots did his rendering, and the club trademarked the overlay graphic years ago?

So essentially, the club own all the elements which go into the badge already, what grounds would that bloke have to kick up a fuss?

No one asked him to do what he did lol.

I'm starting to wonder if we're being " had " by multiple parties FFS 😂.

Just needs to be done now.

Is he kicking up a fuss? Isn't he just saying it's funny that the club seem to have gone from the drop shadow version to basically the version he did (or the other guy). As in, it's funny that they might literally have copied him/them.

If the club are reading this CUT OUT THE 1874! It's such a pointless, random addition and it ruins the spacing.

Arguably mack off the star too.

It’s not really a big issue, it’s a dumb issue because we have vastly different colours, different lion, different name….only because it’s round is this issue raised.  There are more shield badges than round badges as somebody fact checked the other week.

No, it’s because Heck wanted to change it…end of! It was in stone that it was to be our badge but Heck unilaterally wanted to change it.

End of? And if Heck wanted to change it because it looks like Chelsea's badge...

I believe that was mentioned somewhere.

Because it really does look like Chelsea's badge. You can ignore that if you want.

If I was a marketing guy (I kind of now am) then I'd have issues with a rebranding that made a badge look so close to a (more recently) much more successful rival. It's an insane decision.

    I hate this argument.

The shield looks like West ham with reversed colours or a claret and blue Middlesbrough.

It's a badge and there is a million clubs. It's gonna look like other teams, unless we do something creative like Forest or Juventus.

The problem is it seems a typical Villa fan wants nothing that might resemble any innovation or change.

As been said in the argument, Chelsea are a huge team with massive recent success. It's a huge issue and very probably the biggest issue with them not continuing with the round badge. To my mind anyone dismissing that argument is missing the exact point why we likely won't continue with it. If we ignore the problem it doesn't go away.

West Ham's shield features two crossed hammers—we're nowhere near. Middlesbrough's design obviously has similarities, but details like that ribbon, placing of text, and the actual shape of the shield make a big difference. The key thing is though is that we're not competing with Middlesbrough for anything.

Sorry mate but this is a massive reach and bait attempt.

Were Pogba and Balotelli only picked on because they are black?

I'm pretty sure we could find multiple examples of players who aren't black who have been described as having bad attitudes and difficult to Manage.

The player just happens to be black ffs

These kind of things turn us ( Black Folks ) into " the boy who cried wolf " whenever there are ACTUAL race related issues for concern.

Evidence: Morgan Sanson was the last one to be labelled such and he's pretty white.

I've left the crest subject alone for a few weeks but am still exasperated not only at the lack of consultation, but at the glaring design faults with the more-than-likely new thing. Everyone has an opinion on stars, 1874, crest or roundel, which lion, which way it faces and whatnot - and none of these opinions can really be considered right or wrong. But what is pretty much inarguable are the terrible colour choices, resulting clunky drop shadow and positioning of the lion scraping his head.

What's also so annoying is that this basic design - which whilst not my choice of arrangement - could at least just work with a bit of refinement (in my opinion). Since it leaked, we've all seen enough Villa badges to have a different one every season until the end of time. So I know this is futile but I appear to have done it now, blame insomnia...

There was one game that he almost netted, but I can't recall which one. Like @Rolta said I think he hit the woodworks in one of his games.

Either way, it's impressive to end his career on -1 goals for us as a striker after 22 games.

My brain just said, 'It was Stoke!' (we all have so much useless Villa knowledge) and I checked and I think this is the game:

Which game was that? I was thinking of a match v Hull where he played well. Ironically he scored an own goal in that one 😅

I'm sure he hit the bar against someone.

  14. Interesting reading all these impressive marathon times. This is no sales plug, but I'm working for an app at the moment called Run Kaizen. It seems good to me as it provides an accurate race prediction, based on an algorithm and some science that is way above my head, allows you to make a race target time then breaks down the training load you need each week in order to make that target for your specific race. (There's a free trial fyi)

I do the blog at the moment among other things so this spiel rolls off the proverbial tongue a little. I'm considering the Madrid marathon in April having only started running properly again in November and I find the training load presented in a simplified form interesting. (Just did a 14k yesterday and average about 25k a week).

I'm sharing more than anything. I get no money for their subscribers, but I also find it interesting what more advanced runners think about the app.

Dunno if its Monchi or Unai who want him, or both, either way I believe they’re wrong on this.

Happy to be proven wrong if he goes on to become a superstar for us. Don’t see it at all.

Have you seen him play a lot?
