We used to be managed by this guy, in the Barclays Premier League.
Immediately after this clip he said "Also, the Earth is flat. I know because it looks that way to me."
I'm guessing.

This thread proved an interesting read. I have to admit, before Emery came along I never realised just how much of an impact a proper manager can have. This is a squad that is comfortably top half quality, and it's crazy how long it has taken for that to be demonstrated.

Can still enjoy it while not overly celebrating conference qualification.
I think people are not quite getting what I'm saying.
Very pleased with how Emery has transformed us.
People are getting what you're saying just fine. You should consider that maybe you're not doing a great job of saying what you're trying to say.

We're signed him the year before when in the Prem!
Well that shows how memorable he was.

Agreed it was a touch tongue in cheek but they are likely to need some loans, we spent quite a bit in the championship and still loaned:
Johnstone, Snodgrass, Onomah, Grabban, Tuanzebe, Carroll, Bolasie, Tuanzebe (again), Moreira, El Ghazi, Tammy, Hause, Mings during our Championship spell and we were one of the biggest spenders ever whilst down there. Though, only Sam Johnstone the year we went down tbf
I'd full expect them to make 2-4 loans this year, particularly as their finances are poor. If they keep Deano, I'd anticipate they take at least one of ours.
How could you forget Ilori?

I think he is their "Mings" signing, the fans will demand he is signed, he seems to be the heart and soul of the place!
I'm made up for him if that ends up being the case.

Feels like a top club reject, would rather we sign a top up and coming player from a team around or below us. But if Emery wants him, bring him here. First Villa manager that I wholeheartedly trust to sign whoever he thinks suits us.
I wouldn't say he's a reject. He's well thought of at Real Madrid as a rotation option, just not quite good enough to secure a starting position. He'd be one hell of a signing of we pulled it off.

He hasn't achieved anything with us.
I'm old school. Achieving something is reaching finals but more importantly winning trophies.
I feel like the words success is gettign thrown around way too lightly and frequently in this day and age.
This isn't meant to be a negative post. Emery has done a fantastic job so far but let's hope he can take us to the next step.
I get the impression Emery himself would be in total agreement.

Humble as ever. He'd have tucked Haaland in his back pocket just like everyone else, I'm sure.

Did he go to Mr Egg?
It would've been coming out of both ends if he went there. And it would've started much sooner, too. It'd be Gary Lineker all over again.

Olsen is not great, but he's nowhere near the worst keeper I've seen. Considering he's playing backup to officially the best keeper in the world, he's not as bad as he's being made out to be.
That said, our backup has to be good enough to play Emery's style competently so as not to unsettle the defence, and for that reason alone he should be replaced unfortunately.

He came in and trimmed our already thin squad
imagine what he would have to do at Chelsea to get a functioning and workable group of players! It would be a massacre
Don Unai took a scalpel to our squad. He'd have to use a machete on theirs.

And that Villa vs Everton is the most played fixture in the top flight in history.
This is the only reason I don't want them to drop. One season out of the PL and Arsenal v Man U draws level. After another, We've lost that record.
It's a small thing, but I've always thought it was a nice little fact about us.

I saw a lot of Newcastle fans before the game talking about how we don't do our research before giving opinions on them, but they do the exact same thing. Watkins was already bang in form going into the game, of course he'd be a threat.
As for Mings, anyone who actually "did their research" rather than jumping on a bandwagon would know he's far, far better than he's perceived to be.
All fans should agree to stop trying to seriously analyse a club they pay no attention to, because you're just seeing yourself up for embarrassment that way. Or they could just carry on and I can keep laughing at them, either works for me.

I was unable to watch the game, but I got a notification that Bertie had scored and I already knew it was a banger. Has he ever scored a normal goal for us?

I went for Wolves because I know too many of their fans, and they still talk like they're a great team when it's pretty clear they aren't.
