  1. I like Luke Moore. But IMO he will never be a top notch player. I have to admit I'm also suprised so many people rate him so highly. Decent prem player, but no more. Gabby on the other hand looks like he could be sensational, Luke has never shown me that he can be in the same league. EDIT: I know he's scored a hatrick aganst Borough and some decent goals along the way, but I'm ten times more excited about Gabby than Luke and would bite their hand off if a 7m plus luke deal got Bent.
  2. Too much for Arteta. Not overrated but 16m is daft.
  3. This sums up my thoughts. There certainly seemed to be a lot of knocking villa, like Blandy says focusing on the bad stuff and the fact that we are in free fall blah blah blah!!! Suprisingly, Mr Reid, was very good, told it how it was and was complimentary about the fans, players, mon and the club - from an Evertonian I was impressed. Mr Gayle gets royally on my tits though
  4. 3-0 is a reasonable result, especially considering that first half. McClaren won't get sacked on the back of a 3-0 win unfortunately.
  5. At least they called the dive, which does seem to be happening a bit more.
  6. Have to agree with this. In theory the idea of an englishman is great, if there's none available the above applies.
  7. So, do we want Gareth Barry to come on and show McClaren what he's been ignoring, or do we want him to be spared from this shite?
  8. I agree the debate has been done to death. The point of the chanting is to ultimately get rid of McClaren and the Beckham chant is quite a powerful one regardless of whether you think he should have played this game or not.
  9. I hope not, total shite. Hope we win, but not till the 85th minute. Can't remember a performance so bad.
  10. IMO they're just using it as another stick to beat McClaren with which is fine by me.
  11. Cast iron penalty IMO, don't see what al the fuss is about.
  12. Personally I think the scarf idea is a great one. However, one thing I would urge Villa to do is not to make every scarf identical! Anfield looks superb with a range of different scarfs, St James looked slightly strained and obvious with all the scarfs being identical, that's only my opinion of course!! In terms of whether scarfs are in our history, I am not old enough to know whether they are or not, in my lifetime I have not really seen loads of flags/balloons either! In my opinion that is not necessarily the point. The point is Villa Park has lost it's atmosphere and something like providing scarfs is not going against our history, it's merely altering it in a positive way. Although we need to stay as true to our history as is reasonable, we also need to be fluid enough to realise that going against an idea just because we never did it before may be a little short sighted. On a seperate issue, this is my first post on this thread and can I just say how fanastic it is to have the General on Villatalk answering our questions so promptly - it is wonderful to have such an insight into the club.
  13. Work with quite a few West Ham fans, most of them saying Reo-Coker is a big time charlie, thinks he's made it after one good season and that they would be happy to see him go.
  14. I assume he's only 1mill because he's crocked. He would be worth a lot more than this if there were no issues regarding fitness.
  15. Well we can truly say the transfer window is well and truly open!! Crazy times!! Would be good if someone else makes a call as well though!
  16. A move for Big Marlon would be the first time I would question MON. Sorry but that would be hugely underwhelming.
  17. Neither excites me. Harewood worries me. I think he was a one season wonder, great on his occasional day but that's about it. If the two were supplemented with SWP i'd be far happier. Just can't see it.
  18. That would be a gigantic signing, would really lay it down that Villa are back in the market for big names.
  19. A very nice idea. Perhaps a rebuilt North stand could incorporate something like this. How much of the Nou Camp was taken up with the names? I've been there but don't recolect seeing them.
  20. General, Firstly thanks so so much to you and Randy for becoming part of the fabric at Villa, it is truly sensational listening to the views of one of the directors of Aston Villa FC on an internet message board, i doubt there are many premiership directors who are so thoughtful let alone brave enough to take this unusual step. If i see you in and around Villa Park I will shake you by the hand. Top Man. Regards Nick UP THE VILLA
