He scored 22 goals in 19/20 in 2800 minutes in a mediocre Southampton team.
List of players who have broken 20 goals in a season in the last 5 years:
Kane
Salah
Ings
Vardy
Sterling
Aubameyang
Mane
Aguero
Costa
Sanchez
Lukaku
If that's not a list of >£25m, >125k players then I don't know what is.
And he works really hard too. Very strong addition to our squad.

So the redesign of Yas Marina looks decent
Could do with a bit of gravel to stop the inevitable wide defending but agree it looks like a decent improvement.

Unless we're counting Hamilton parking his car in the fiddly section trying to back Rosberg into Vettel in 16 to try and force his teammate down the order as a championship in the balance.
Looking back Vettel seemed to have no intention of passing Rosberg and letting Hamilton equal his 4 WDCs. How times change.

As much as I want to get really excited by Gerrard I think I really am scarred by Sherwood. We had become a joke under Lambert and after he took over we managed to comfortably stay up and also got to a final. I was foolish enough to believe we were in good hands, he just needed his own players for us to push on.
Now I know we’re in a much better situation now from top to bottom but I think I’ll continue to remain cautious for now.
Sherwood always seemed like a charlatan though. His experience was half a season as a caretaker, didn't even have his UEFA pro licence iirc.
The parallels of getting an initial boost from taking over a side who had become a bit stale and reinvigorating their work ethic are there but this current set up has far more substance to their work than Sherwood's ever did.
I also don't think Gerrard has even mentioned that he needs his 'own players' in. That would be an excuse for the current ones to underperform and he doesn't seem to be willing to allow for any excuses at all for anyone. Sherwood was an excuse machine.

I feel like the only role I can imagine him being useful for in this set up is if he's converted into a RB as competition for Cash like how Young was at United.
We have so many better players for the wings/CAM spots on both sides.

NSWE could stump up that kind of a fee on a whim without any thought so really this transfer is only a whim away.

I don't know if I'm having a stroke but as far as I can see your post contained the sentence:
"I can’t remember looking forward to our next game since Gregory."
with no qualifiers afterwards which is exactly what @Xelaclaimed you said.
The bizarre desire to attempt to rewrite history in order to s**t on everything that has gone before is confusing and pointless in equal measure.
Imho if anything, belittling previous Villa regimes actually belittles anything Gerrard may achieve in the process, which may be the intention, I'm not sure. Either way it's bizarre.

If you haven't enjoyed any manager since him as much as Gerrard's 3 games then what have you been doing for the last 20 years?
It's comical to say you haven't looked forward to a game since Gregory and then suggest someone questioning that doesn't know Villa's history in that time. Without context and attempting to back it up I'd be sure that was satire.
Gerrard is doing extremely well imho, I've been impressed with our shape in the first two games and impressed with everything in the second half against City but it's not the highlight of Villa's last twenty years. I would love us to surpass everything that's happened since Gregory but to do that in 3 matches we'd have probably had to win them all 10-0.
I'm looking forward to the next game obviously but I have done on numerous occasions.

Is he gone yet?
No?
Good.

We won the first two games on the strength of the defensive shape and hard work without really showing too much going forward. Taking in to account the level of the opposition, I thought we looked much more threatening with the ball tonight.
Really promising signs of improvement from game to game. I'm optimistic about the direction he's taking us.

The pass to set up Chuk was sublime. He creates chances against any opposition

He tried his best to make sure we didn’t beat United. Penalty was harsh and didn’t even book Maguire for his wrestling move on Mcginn when he could have been clean through.
Exactly. He couldn't even **** cheat us out of that win despite his best efforts. He'll be out for blood tomorrow.

He'll not only go for the hat trick, he'll pull his shirt over his head and knee slide in front of the Holte afterwards.
Then take the match ball home with him.

They are leaking goals and the answer was to bring in Eddie Howe. Interesting choice.
We laugh but who will be laughing when they spend £100m on Liverpool's academy cast offs in January?
Oh that's right, still us.

Didn't play particularly well with the ball but still had a mild penalty shout and an iffy DOGSO red card shout not go his way.
His workrate stopped Palace being able to build anything from the back but he needs to do more next chance he gets to keep his place.

Another excellent gritty performance. We're not creating much, but I think Watkins put it well last week that the standards for application have been raised. Again even the players who didn't play well ran themselves into the ground.
The subs weren't to change the game, they were to maintain the work rate and they did exactly that. Dream start for him and us really.

It would have been remiss of Purslow not to be lining up a replacement of Smith. The results were very poor for a long time. He was given time to turn them around and unfortunately Smith was not able to. I would be pissed off if Purslow wasn't planning for a new manager in the event Smith wasn't able to turn the ship around.
Completely agree. I was getting slightly agitated as the days passed after Smith's departure with no sign of any movement but true to form, the Villa board were being real Gs and moving in silence, like lasagna.
They should always be aware of the best candidates for the position, even when things are going well. Life comes at you fast and people can decide to stand down or retire on the spur of the moment.

Your average fan will love him because he does fancy flicks and tricks. Top coaches will want him out, make no questions about it.
Klopp likes him so much he tried to sign him but was reportedly priced out and then mentioned him by name when complimenting the strength of our squad before we smashed them 7-2.

I think we're finally at a point where the squad is strong enough to not have to worry about missing any one player for one game. I think they'll just serve them whenever they happen to come up and Gerrard will rotate.
