Playing a high line with both pacy CBs out will play right into Manchester United’s nippy forwards hands. With Spurs winning today it’s important that Villa win but I just can’t see it even though I’d love it! Would also like to see Iroegbunam play to give more strength and pace in midfield to sit on Casemiro and maybe even Rogers instead of Diaby to freshen it up. However, can’t see that either so the damage may be done in the first half before changes are made?

Just to correct you. After the Sheffield game I posted very positively about the performance and in particular Luiz. Its a shame you’ve chosen just my criticism to comment on but as you say better to move on.

I’ve no problem being engaged on site. That’s what a forum is for and I’m certainly not offended. If anything you are the one annoyed! You might feel I’m overreacting or overplaying everything. That’s ok with me too but as far as I can see there’s so much apathy on here which needs to be challenged especially whenever players perform well below standard and when it is challenged posters like you react very badly to it using terms like trolling and so on. Villa’s drop in form hasn’t just been the Chelsea game but several games now which is worrying. I’m not the only one on site stating that but I may be a bit more blunt than some? I make no apology for that. That apathy amongst players and fans alike has maybe also contributed to the term ‘sleeping giant’ which you hear so often attributed to Villa. Roy Keane stated Villa never win anything which is incorrect as Villa have a trophy history but for such a big club Villa haven’t won anything in a very long time and have been relegated! My anger isn’t based just on the Chelsea game but over the last 5-6. Emery doesn’t seem to have a plan B when teams press Villa and that is also worrying. Villa will again be pressed on Sunday by an improving Man U. I sincerely hope Villa triumph and secure a CL place by the end of the season but to do that both manager and team will have to improve recent form.

I couldn’t care less about your comments either to be frank. As clearly stated in my post I don’t know what he has said to the players. My comments were mainly about his post match interviews. For example would you call Ferguson inept? There are times when a manager has to out his team and players for consistently underperforming. That has been evident throughout the history of football. I also felt his decision not to make changes at half time after such a poor first half was scandalous. He then made two substitutions and waited until the 80th minute to make two more when the game was gone. You seem to be adverse to anything critical of the manager or players. That’s fine but more than a little naive. I call it as I see it including Luiz but I won’t stop posting my opinion due to annoying you.

Watched Emery’s post match interview this morning. To tell you the truth I was totally disgusted by it. No real hint of criticism and deflecting the result by saying that Villa are strong in the league. Placement is strong however recent performances (with the exception of Sheffield) have been poor, really poor. I don’t know what he’s been saying to the players in the dressing room but performances aren’t improving. In fact no changes last night after a terrible first half is basically saying to the players carry on what you’re doing which they did. Total apathy which is being repeated in recent performances on the pitch. I’ve also read one or two posts on here suggesting Villa threw the game? I can understand that as the players looked totally disinterested last night with few breaking sweat. For me though Emery needs to start showing the same passion and disgust evident while watching the game last night and throwing several of his players under the media bus. He might then get a reaction. Show the same apathetic nature and performance level against Man U on Sunday it just won’t cut it with me or many other Villa fans!

Unfortunately none of Villa’s starting midfield tonight had pace or physicality. Nor did the four at the back. They were absolutely destroyed by Chelsea’s midfield tonight and I feel Man U will do the same.

No-one knows if Villa are close to breaching FFP. Besides Villa did invest but not really in the first team.

No pace in midfield. No movement off the ball and constantly giving the ball away. I hope Emery doesn’t come out and sugar coat that performance?

That was a **** awful performance. Not one player on the Villa team gave anywhere near 100%. 4 subs should have been made at half time rather than two in the 80th minute. Really poor by the manager. Play that way against Man U and Villa will concede double what they did tonight! Lack of investment in any real quality in the Jan window is already starting to show.

Chelsea have been right up for it while Villa haven’t got out of bed. Never seen Villa dominated like that this season but every Villa player has been awful and that’s being kind. Emery looks furious and rightly so.

Fantastic first half performance by Villa with the usual drop off by a team so far ahead in the second. Thought Luiz’s assists for two of the goals were worth MOTM. However I still feel he needs to perform like this consistently instead of 1-5 games. Want him to dominate Man U next week! Cameo by Iroegbunam was good to see even though he lost possession a few times. Looks comfy on the ball with physicality. All good, now for Chelsea & Man U.
