If he was in a gearbox he would be a "jockey"gear as opposed to a driving gear.

For those that are unfamiliar with gearboxes its a cog that links driving gears/ cogs but does nothing on its own.

Keeping things ticking over so to speak?

I don't want him tweeting pictures of his lower intestines thank you very much.

Don't we see evidence of what is contained in his lower intestines every time he steps on to a football pitch?

I know what some of the critics amongst us say......and to be fair, they are right.

.......but I really want this player to do well for us.

I want all players to do well for us.

Has made more interceptions per game (average) than everyone other than Elphick and Hutton.

What? Hutton has contributed positively to this season? I don't understand this at all.

  5. I don't care what way he passes the ball once he plays well and is making a positive contribution to the team.

Westwood has been a victim of Villa over the last few seasons. He was part of our young and hungry policy (austerity measures). He had spent most of his career playing in League 2. He was signed as a 22 year old while playing in League 1 but had very few appearances at that level. He was then thrust in to the centre of midfield in the Premier League and was tasked with essentially being our main central midfielder. He came from a lower level where fitness pace and technical ability is miles away from the standard of the PL. He should never have been given that responsibility. He should have been integrated in to the team slowly, being allowed to develop the attributes mentioned above. In a better run club he would have been. Who knows how that would have worked out? We'll never know.

Right now he seems to have started the season pretty well, has never given less than his all, is an intelligent footballer and I for one hope he goes on to be a big player for us this season and beyond. If he does or doesn't remains to be seen but with what seems like a better squad around him he'll have more of a chance than he had the last few years.

He's actually made 2 errors in 3 games.

Given the experience RDM has opted for in other areas of the team - I can't see why he has gone for an untested rookie as first choice keeper. Im sure big Tony will soon be on the case and we will either have Bunn or another keeper.

I'm confused as to why suddenly his flicks started going to Villa shirts and he was able to win headers and basically be remotely useful but long may it continue.

Probably because there were actually players around him as opposed to being scared shitless of getting forward....

Remember, though, he started off in the Premier League with a cracking goal, and we all thought he was going to be great. Followed by a whole lot of nothing.

While playing in a struggling team with no real game plan, shit service and the ball being in our half for probably 70% of the match.

Play to his strengths then he will do well. Not saying he is indispensible or anything like it but he has his uses.
