Those training poles look like they have too much movement to be our back line.

Oh that's a training pole...... thought it was Gestede!

Richardson's contract has expired anyway i believe?

We should make sure this is in every thread just in case people miss it.

It's guaranteed to cheer everyone up too in the case of them having a bad day!

Didn't Gayle sign a new deal at Palace only a few months back.

I'd take him no problem, him and Bamford on loan would be an excellent strikerforce for the league with Gestede as back up and Plan B option.

The paper it was signed on is only fit for toilet paper as with all football contracts. Just palace ensuring they get a fee for him.

  4. But what does Di Matteo have to do to make sure that Villa don't follow the example of former Premier League clubs Charlton Athletic and Bolton Wanderers - both of whom will be plying their trade in League One next season? Simple: clear out the foreign under-performers and focus on nurturing the top quality talent at the club.

People may argue that you need experience to navigate the choppy waters of the Championship, but that is not really an option for Aston Villa in their current state. From Jores Okore's refusal to play, to Gabby Agbonlahor's clubbing antics, to Joleon Lescott's wildly inappropriate relegation comments - the big names at the club have proven themselves unworthy both on and off the field.

Injury-hit left-back Jordan Amavi has been linked with Liverpool in the last week (as well as AC Milan, Lyon and Nice), and fans will be hoping that this is the start of a major clear out of foreign stars who just haven't cut the mustard at Villa Park this season.

Stumbled on this today. Has anybody got any idea who this joker is?

I agree with giving youth a chance but just have a read. It'll make you chuckle!!

I heard that in other jobs he tried 4-4-2, 4-3-3, even 4-5-1, and stuck at it, until he found the combination to the club's safe. :)

I should hope that the club's safe has a more secure code than three digits

O'Dowda had as a lot of potential and the raw attributes to become a good player. Wouldn't like to say for certain though. He would (obviously) jump at the chance of joining us ( his words) I'm not high enough up the food chain though to get anything more concrete about him being close to joining us, especially being the summer. Worth a punt for sure !

The Irish journalists are saying that another week training and he probably would have made the squad for the Euro's. Probably would have been worth shot anyway given that McGeady is probably our 'flair player'!

You mean their corpses? The Doctor has already ordered their execution alongside Gabby and Richardson this week.

Their corpses are probably more use than what we've seen throughout the season just gone.

    Premier league title in 2018....

    Well why the hell not!

    LETS DO THIS!

March 2018. Then we can give our some of our U-21's a run out in order to give them some experience for the rest of the season.......

And give Lescott and Richards their first appearance in two years on return from gardening leave!

  9. Just took the quiz on the independent.ie webiste about Ireland at major tournaments and failed miserably....

However, I did learn that Villa have provided the most players to Ireland squads for major tournaments!!:thumb:

I wish him luck. He has a big task ahead, none more so than clearing out players who have had a losing mentality for several years. I hope that Clarke is confirmed as No. 2 as he has excellent experience as a coach and has also managed in the Championship. I'm pleased with this appointment after what he did with WBA, his Chelsea achievements aren't really relevant in our position. The hard work starts now!

They will be in two years after we've set a new record for overall points in the Chamionship and secured the PL title by March 2018. Then we will be looking to see if he can repeat his Champions League heroics!!

Utilised correctly, could be a real asset in the midfield who gets a ton of assists. He needs support and protection though.

I agree. He was usually the only creative player on the pitch for us. Therefore all the opposition had to do was close down Gil's space and muscle him off the ball as the rest of our players didn't pose enough creative threat. One other creative player (Grealish vs Leicester) and he found more space and thus became more effective. IMO

I think Betis would be a good move for him, as would any mid-range Spanish team.  Shame agents don't shut up as I think Gil has never complained about the way he was treated for a long time he was here and tried his best to spark attacks when he played.  Just not really physically up to English football.  Having said that, Di Matteo might rate him and want to keep him.

    This.

    Exactly this!

Why there are agents I will never understand!

Scott Parker??? Maybe 15 years ago! But he is a proper old bastard now and would struggle to run a few yards

We have enough of those already who don't bust a gut!!

He would bust a gut though. Problem is that he would probably do it very easily!!

  14. How will people on here deal with the notoriously difficult Clark/Clarke spelling now?

We won't know who anyone will be referring to....... Ciaran? Steve? Emilia?

    It'll be madness!!!!:(

Yes, takeover in the morning on deadline day and before I'd finished my breakfast bids in for Robinho and Berbatov.

Maybe they just googled Sheikh Mansour and saw within a few minutes that he was worth whatever amount of billions and just said "yep this Sheikh fella is fine"

Maybe Tony's privacy is slowing the process down a bit?

  16. I'd give the job to Keane and give him free rein to clear out the deadwood. Just because I want to see what happens when Gabby tries to take the piss when Roy has no one to hold him back!!

  17. I don't think that he is our biggest problem. He has some good days and some bad days but as far as the culture change goes I'd keep him. He is one of the decent characters in the club and cares about the club too. We could get rid of him and get someone else in but then if we git rid of too many of our own what sort of "culture" does that leave us with?

A bunch of people bought in to the club? That's all well and good when you are Man City and can pay the best in the world to come and play for you but that not where we are.

    Yet!

  18. Hey. I've been a fairly regular visitor to this forum over the years but have now decided to open an account. Been a Villa fan since the mid 90's due to the Irish connection at that time (Gareth Farrelly especially!!!!). Been to Villa Park just the once unfortunately and for the life of me can't explain why!! Been to a few games in London as I used to live there incl. when we narrowly lost to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in 2013..... our young and hungry policy looked so promising then!! Ah well! Looking onwards and upwards now though!
