You were lucky. We lived for three months in a paper bag in a septic tank. We used to have to get up at six in the morning, clean the paper bag, eat a crust of stale bread, go to work down the mill for fourteen hours a day week in week out, for sixpence a week. When we got home, out Dad would thrash us to sleep with his belt!
Never realised you were from Wolverhampton?

A lot of media sympathy for Everton and also from Villa fans but not from me.
I still remember lack of sympathy when we went down seven years ago from the media and opposition fans and I recall Everton fans being the worst. Dismissing us a cr*p team (true, but so are they now) but also taking the p*ss out of us for comparing ourselves to them and thinking they were bigger than us.
They have got themselves into this mess for running their club atrociously bad and wasting money on players not fit for purpose. They will be very lucky to avoid a points deduction if they are found to have broken FFP rules through years of reckless spending.
Big club like us yes, and sad for them, but given how no one gave a care in the world for us I really couldn't give a f*ck about their current plight.
Other teams revelling in your demise can be looked on as a form of compliment in my opinion. It shows that you’re relevant. The bigger they are, the harder they fall and all that. We took the piss out of Newcastle big style when we sent them down - would we have reserved the same treatment for, say, Southampton?
Fans of other teams taking the piss is part and parcel of football.
Personally, I have no real axe to grind with Everton and reading their forum, there’s an air of resignation around the club like there was with us in our dark times. I’d far rather reserve my energy for the hatred of multiple other teams (Sky 6, SHA etc) before them.

To be fair he’s rarely let us down - he’s a good solid left-back. It’s only this bizarre notion that his weekly salary is more than the GDP of a China that’s held against him.

He’ll lower the average looks of the squad considerably.

How come a number of posts today have been for those who are partially sighted? Unless I’ve accidentally changed some setting on my phone…

Big fan of all of the three signings this window but still and all I feel like it's so apparent when we compare the squad to Newcastle, City, Arsenal etc that as well as being good technical players across the squad also these teams are bigger, stronger, faster etc than ours and it'll show. There were times where it was competitive today and could have gone differently dependent on certain chances but ultimately they were just bullied out there.
You make a fair point, and yet, just a few months ago when we played Newcastle at Villa Park the opposite was true - we bullied them and were first to pretty much everything that day. It’s baffling how things change from game to game.

He’s in incredible shape and for someone his age hasn’t played a huge amount of games in his career. I’m holding out hope that he comes back from this.
But the last few days couldn’t have been more shit, with the injuries to him and Buendia

It’s one game. Same could be said of a few players today. Some perspective is needed

I’m surprised that some posters don’t rate Emi and don’t think he’d be a regular starter for us this season.
Even when he’s not totally on his game he’s an all action, in-your-face terrier of a player, who must be a horrible little shit of a player to play against. His effort and work rate are immense. He brings so much to the team and in my opinion will be a massive loss.
We’re better placed now than we have been for years to manage with the loss of such a key player, but it’s still a huge blow and for me too, it has put a dampener on my pre-season optimism.

FFS. I’m sure there’s a curse on this club.
That’s a devastating blow. -

2 hours ago, Lerner's Driver said:I fully acknowledge the ridiculous, emoji worthy idiocy of what I am about to say, but Andy Bernstein on his Talk Sport show this afternoon was saying that United are looking for another "well known striker" this window, in addition to Hojlund.
He said he couldn't name the player, but showed Darren Bent, his co-host, what he had written down and Bent couldn't believe it. I hope I am wrong and almost certainly am, but stranger things have happened. Couldn't be Ollie, could it?
My strong suspicion here is that he’d drawn a childish picture of a cock and two balls, with some lines for pubes and some jizz spurting out of the end. Hence Darren Bent’s shocked reaction.
That’s what I’d have put on the paper anyway.

Shocking and sad news. Always looked in good shape for his age. By all accounts a decent bloke. RIP
